  1. At Club Foot in the early 80's! 😉 Here is a map of the 2023 downtown street closure permitting from the city events dept link to DT closures I think my main search now is gonna be for the few events taking place on Tuesday. SXSJ used to have an early Tuesday fundraiser that was more country flavored. Mainly it was on Tuesday which meant a LOT fewer folks had the flexibility to attend. But starting to get a little excited. Don't know if you have heard of the Heavy Heavy but they are playing a 2 night gig at C-boys on March 10/11. And since a lot of you guys have a case of the olds, there is daytime show at Antone's on February 25th at 1 pm. Johnny Walker Live! With a reunion of Soul Hat (Black Cat regular) and Patrice Pike's Band which I imagine may have a Sister 7 configuration at some point in the show. But might get some good walk ups.

  3. Yet if you were watching Fox News you were never burdened with the knowledge that the Trump Administration was upset with Trump being a "Pussy Ass Bitch" and got Twitter to take it down. Nor will the Fox News crowd be burdened with twitter changing the rules of account suspension to accommodate Trump's rantings. On Fox News... It was the Libs that were owned! Take that you Pussy Assed Bitches!!! And the cycle continues....
  4. Step One (pun intended) Went to golf Galaxy and came super close to buying a pair of cuatar money makers like the ones below, but the actually burnt orange accent on these new release Pumas versus last years model in the money makers swayed me. There was a little more stability in the pumas as well.
  5. Spent a winter evening when it snowed back in the early 80's pushing folks on the freeway out of an icy patch in a low spot on 1-35 hidden by the guardrail. Now confess are these cabinets ones you stained yourself from Lowes? They look just like my olds ones and were very similar in color as well, I think the stain was shaded bark.
  6. Ha- I used to own a condo in Sunnyvale Villas just up the street.
  7. Luckily I am already limber, but I have always had back issues and flexibility helps there. I went and hit a small bucket yesterday, sucked like shit at first. But once some of it started coming back I closed my foot position a hair and moved back away from the ball, i was striking about 25% really well, the other 50% headed in the right direction down the fairway, and the rest exactly like a guy who hadn't hit a bucket in 10 years. Talked to my buddy and I think he's in on joining Golfintity, at least for a couple months. So I wanted to hit some balls just to make sure my back would not blow out before signing a contract. I'm gonna go try on more shoes today. While I honestly prefer the soft spike shoes for foot grip, the nub cleats will be a lot more comfy walking, which is part of my restart reasoning getting some non-beer cart exercise. I will buy a good pair of waterproof, with soft spikes if I continue to play, and start making tee times without the weather as the primary criteria. The good news is I still can bang down the putts. I was explaining to my wife the horror of the "3 putt" in that usually you are barely missing that second putt. And those 3 inches are the same stroke count as a 260 yard drive. For me it's about improvement and honesty. I'm only playing against myself and pretending I am better than I am because I continually improve my lie is just bullshit. Of course my background is 90's shooters over multi-hundred holes and you don't get to improve your lie with your gamblings buddies. Plus without an honest stroke count why bother to play? But yesterday gave me hope. That 25% of strikes that jumped off the club face, and solid putting gave me hope, but golf is a game of frustration... once you start to get hope! 😉
  8. I don't mind paying good money for shoes at all. That was where I was going to initially focus my shopping. I used to sell shoes as a teen and good shoes are money well spent in nearly every instance. So gotta see what's comfy AND supportive. Plus I know what fits in shoes! Talked to my buddy to go see whats lurking in the discard closet at his dad's place. I need him to get another pair of hand me downs so I can get his current Mizuno's! Love my putter and won't change that, or my wedges. Just thinking a little more forgiveness with a larger face in all likelihood. Hell I need to see if I even have a decent glove anymore. I just realized my old Adidas soccer turf cleats are nearly identical to a lot of today's golf shoes.
  9. So I THINK I am about to start playing again. I have probably played about 3 rounds in the last 10 years, but I'm sure I could step up cold and break 100... as if that's worthy of note. 😉 I only picked up golf at all because my wife's Father had a family reunion built around a morning golf tournament. And I was the young future son-in-law who did play half a round with some 1940's Tommy Armour blades with worn ass grips. I managed to get closest to the pin that day (much to the consternation of my future wife's father who had never taken home a trophy from the tournament). I played for about 4 or 5 years, mainly as simply gambling. Shooting in the high 80's to mid 90's for most of that time, but standing over quite a few multi-hundred dollar putts with our "dots" gambling game. I decided to improve my game after years of giving my buddies a little cash here and there and bought a set of 4 lessons at Golfsmith (dating myself) and I moved my game from mid 90's to consistently mid 80's on the high range and cracking 80 on easier courses more and more. Anyhow my gambling buddies moved away long ago, and I quit playing as I spent nearly a decade coaching two traveling teams. But now I am thinking I am going to get back into it. I am trying to decide my best plan of action, as if I start again, the goal is to be a mid 80's and below shooter. I have decided that after so long a break I am going to start off by buying a package of lessons and allow myself to be coached from scratch. The good news is i know course management so that alone saves me a couple strokes, and I have always been an above average putter. So questions- Keep in mind that I don't want the most expensive or best looking gear (remember the gambling part), but I want function. 1) Golf shoes - What should I buy. Used to mainly buy FootJoy, but now there seem to be so many choices? But I am looking for comfort and walkability. I still have an old pair of sandal soft spikes I used to love but now the comfort level looks to be a lot higher. I am going to probably walk a lot of twilight in the future for exercise, so what should I look for? 2) Lessons - I am seriously contemplating joining a place off 183/620 Golfinity for at least a couple months for a combination of a practice facility and lesson package. i also thought about just getting a package of some lessons at First Tee since I don't belong to a club anymore. But I know lessons and practice took 10 strokes off my game with a willingness to do "what wasn't comfortable" and relearn my swing. This time I figure just start with lessons so that I am practicing good form and technique. Any thoughts on what I should focus on? The Golfinity indoor place would give me both lessons, and daily practice if I can make the time, at a seemingly affordable price point. IF the lessons are solid. 3) Clubs - Ive got some 8 or 10 year old 2021 Tommy Armour 845's, but figure I will buy a new set and get fitted. or a discounted higher quality used set that is close to being truly fitted. My game is not so good where that 1/4 inch is gonna throw me off! I am about to pull out my old crappy stuff and go hit a few balls and the putting green. Then all hope will be lost... 😉 Anyhow give me your thoughts about getting back into the game.
  10. I was telling the wife last night during the speech, that Biden reminds me of a big dicked naked guy in the locker room that keeps walking over to talk. And the GOP was at the tying their shoes stage in the locker room each time Biden walked over.
  11. Dylan is King without a doubt. But one lyric has always struck me as one of the most original and creative ever... "Little old lady got mutilated late last night." Fucking genius. So a tip of the hat to Warren Zevon. I think Tom Petty and Bruce Springsteen are two sides of the same coin. With Springsteen focusing on our struggles, hopes and dreams, while Petty painted pictures of the Americana that are etched into all our audio memories. John Prine is an elegant writer, and probably as much as anyone, was a nurturer of the craft of writing itself within the music community. Lots of other great American writers, but I think these four likely separate themselves above the rest. (excluding Zevon).
  12. What I like is that as much as the GOP whines about the border they simply never actually present bills that could pass. I also like the way the GOP whined incessantly about healthcare and how they had a better plan. A plan that interestingly like the border plan, is a secret plan, never to allowed to be seen by the American public. Now the GOP that spent more money with less results on their deficit creating monster called the 2017 Tax cuts and Jobs plan. Only it didn't produce any more jobs than the economy they inherited. In fact for all the borrowing... they never did create more jobs annually even after falling 560,000 jobs behind the Obama/Biden economy they took the helm of in 2017. Two thirds of that tax cut ended up in the hands of the top couple percent. Who simply did not need it. Now you will not be allowed to see the GOP plan to decimate social security and put more common folks in the poor house... while preserving that tax cut for the wealthy. You see that tax cut that further concentrated more wealth into fewer hands is exactly what the GOP plan is. Helping the average man and woman is just something for slogans, not for legislation. But it's always fun to see the endless delusion of the misinformed here. But hey without disinformation and self delusion a thinking Republican would blow their fucking brains out at their stupidity.
  13. It seems to me the main thing it takes to be Republican is to be afraid of everything, and responsible for nothing.
  14. Democrats fix Economies, Republicans fuck up good ones they are given. Cycle has repeated it for nearly the entirety of our lives. Jimmy Carter handed off an economy on the upswing to Reagan. And Reagan and the GOP spent and borrowed like drunken sailors. Bush got a decent economy, and kept the spending increasing as the economy faltered, but was on recovery as Clinton took office. Economy generally kicked ass under Clinton and the rate of deficit spending actually declining. GWB inherited an economy so strong, he actually inherited a surplus. Which Bush and the GOP quickly squandered with rebate checks rather than bay down any of the debt mostly accumulated with GOP Presidential signatures, Bush doesn't really read his Presidential daily Briefings, and a simple, inexpensive and successful terror operation brings us 9/11. Wholesale spending Giving away huge chunks of wasted security money to states as more largesse, lacking in strategic purpose, deficit spending again explodes under a Republican President. Bush's administrations passion for home ownership and disdain for Regulation spawns housings crises, and additional monies borrowed as shit economy collapsing is handed off to Obama. Obama immediately forced into additional deficit spending trying to fix the mess that was not properly addressed of fixed. After 8 years the strongest economy every handed off to a President was handed off to Donald J Trump. Republicans again spent like Drunken sailors massively increasing the deficit with the usual tax cut falsely labeled "The Tax Cut and Jobs Act," again exponentially exploding deficit spending. Again in a time of relative plenty. In the two years leading up to Trump taking the oath of office the Obama/Biden Administration produced and average of 2.53 million jobs a year. Trump and the GOP producing nothing but debt with their legislation. With jobs falling to 2.03 million the first year, 2.44 million the next year, and 2.03 million ending in January as covid began to rise. Trump hands off a debt laden piece of shit economy to Biden. With the added bonus of a covid disaster and SPECIFIC and PURPOSEFUL obstruction of communication regarding covid and vaccines was also handed off to Biden. Biden humps for two years. Solves the cluster fuck (and it was massive) that was a lack of any actual physical distribution plan for the covid vaccine and has created so many jobs it is mind boggling. Now the GOP it again simply trying to fuck the economy so they can get a shot at 2024. McCarthy and the GOP have no fucking plan at all. their plan is the same as their healthcare plan. Lie like fuck that you have some ideas, and attack, attack, attack anything constructive that could be gained from compromise. They are quite simply non-patriotic whores for power. Nothing more and nothing less. They are devoid af any actual ideas. We will be waiting forever for the GOP Healthcare plan. Just like we will be waiting forever for a budget that truly encompasses what the GOP believes. Because... what they believe the MAJORITY of the country if fucking dead set against. stepping angrily down off soap box. Because everything I said is factual, and I could never get any Trump supporter to admit any of these facts as true... and that's sad.

  16. The thing I hated about the fucking prosecution is they did not paint a proper narrative of the situation. Rittenhouse was so afraid of the threat from the man who had clear advantage and could have easily shot Rittenhouse... But DID NOT! I would have waited until Rittenhouse when through his description of the video and yelled out BOOM! at the point where Rittenhouse was on the ground starting to gather himself. Pointing out that the man who had advantage should have emptied his clip into Rittenhouse. As at that point in time Rittenhouse was the only actual threat. Otherwise how do you explain the "perceived threat" from failing to take advantage of his superior tactical position? I would make Rittenhouse go through the tape again and again, identifying the point at which the man he shot, should have shot him while still in a position of advantage? I could have spent an hour on that. And it would have destroyed his self-defense assertion.

  18. C-Boys is a great but small venue. I think their shows actually cost them money in all honesty. The place was a complete zoo even on Sundays the last couple years. If memory serves me, I think somebody usually reports the venues that have applied for special event noise permits issued for the dates in question. I think that last year was a decent increase in permits from pre-covid but not close to what were being issued in 2019. In fact about 50% less. When the list for "special events" comes out that will give you a good idea of what degree of expansion this year might offer. I always wait anxiously for Jo's SXSJ lineup, but that's usually like 10 days before the event. I did look back at some of the posters and it brought back some good memories. The last thing I did last time I was in continental was buy a last drink from the waitress, get her name while giving a fat tip, and telling her to look for me in March! Being nice early and often is a recipe for getting a drink a LOT more easily when it's packed at Continental.
  19. We have been doing the occasional lamb burgers that have been fantastic. Wife put together her own sauce, mayo, sour cream, lemon, garlic, fresh dill, and we stir a healthy amount of feta into that sauce. Using the ground lamb and arugula (MINUS the stems) as the lettuce. Damn good. But I saw that COSTCO has 2.5 lbs of ground Bison for $20, and I thought why not make a buffalo wing inspired burger. I will get the Buffalo Bill at Hopdoddy occasionally, so it's not my invention or anything, but I did not realize how easy wing sauce is. Just melt some butter, dump in a bunch of crystal hot sauce and add garlic power to taste as you whisk it. Fucking easy! Anyhow here is my Bison, blue cheese, buffalo sauce burger, on a brioche bun.

    F cancer.

First off I am sorry you and you family have to go through this. It's a story that sadly is repeated over and over, maybe someday...Hospice is your friend. They are there to help you and help you care for your loved one. They are a closer evaluator of your father's condition, and can't give you personal comfort and give you good advice. They simply have experience in this arena. While I am NOT a pharmacist but Adivan along with the morphine. It's in the valium family, my FIL recently passed and the addition of this drug helped with the anxiety they experience. Anyhow might ask the doc about some something for his mood? The best you can do for him now is try to make him as comfortable as possible, and lean heavily on hospice. They are both knowledgable and supportive. For my wife even though she is a Pharmacist in long term care their advice was invaluable in helping with choosing a course of action. Thoughts and prayers for your Father and mother, stay strong. I'm just glad your mom is lucky enough to have you around.
  21. I think Acho's ability to unite haters from exact opposite ends of the race issue spectrum is... well... fascinating...
  22. This is the Santos congress. From top to bottom. Basically an entire party and current platform based on fabrication. Heck they guys that decided to borrow more in a time of plenty than any other congress in history when controlled by Republicans and a Republican President now... are concerned about deficits. there is a good reason why Santos is still in Congress. Lies simply do not matter to the GOP. Lies are now part of the basic stock and trade of the GOP. Thus thus lies are no longer something any Republican needs to be concerned with at all. PS- Lindsay Graham is so pissed. He really thought that being filmed, photographed, and interviewed in drag, was something the GOP could never endorse... how wrong he was...
  23. Because without and angry and misinformed population the Republican Party doesn't have a chance... Hell that's why colleges are so fucking dangerous to the GOP. Any sort of critical thinking is a negative. Why do you think folks are so intent on banning books they have never read at local School Board meetings now? The dumb and misinformed are the people that Republicans WANT as the gatekeepers of information and critical thinking. That's fucking sad, that it is so fucking accurate.
  24. The eternal truth the Aggies simply never understand is they simply are NOT a national brand. Doesn't matter if they grossly overpay coaches to get attention. It doesn't matter that they build great facilities. They simply never get over the hill. To be honest A&M was on the cusp of changing their brand at the end of 2020, and even closer after landing a monster class last year that helped buoy the Aggies into a top ranked team in the preseason. Then they lay an egg, and another egg, and another... Then that huge contract that was put in place to draw attention, does draw attention. But for all the wrong reasons. There is a reason that A&M is never taken seriously. They simply never have been able to rise to the occasion. In essence their brand is a joke. That they have proven and reinforced over and over again. The screenshots on this thread are a testament to the Aggie brand being something that is humorous. But god Damn they are fun to fucking laugh at!
