See how well we know our Republican friends! "Whatabout" is the only defense. Which validates my point, and tells me how much fun I am going to have asking folks about it. "I personally am going to ask every single Republican going forward, what they think about it? Mainly because I want to hear what asinine rationalizations they come up with for to protect their misinformed snowflake psyches." I think I am going to print up some business cards to have some fun with this! HELP ME pick out the response boxes to put on the back!!!So far THANKS to your response check boxes I have so far, I am thinking I need 6 check boxes, plus the rarely used micro check box 1) Clinton 2) Hunter Biden 3) What About 4) General incoherent rationalization 5) Realization (thinking this needs to be teeny tiny box barely legible for this one)

I am just curious on how your "principled," American (flag pin wearing, flying, or bumper sticker), freedom loving neighbor will justify not having ANY fucking calls from Trump in his taxpayer funded home to ANYONE as the insurrection raged. How do you OFFICIALLY as a third branch of government put forth a document with no calls for 7 hours as the riot turned insurrection raged with a straight face? What the fuck is the answer? I sort of think the most common rationalization will be, "Well... how can you say he was doing anything wrong without knowing who he called?" What do you guys think will become popular? I haven't seen Fox today so I don't know what the propaganda tool has decided upon yet, but I personally am going to ask every single Republican going forward, what they think about it? Mainly because I want to hear what asinine rationalizations they come up with for to protect their misinformed snowflake psyches.

I will say this. I do honestly believe that Roberts wants the court to not lose (completely) the respect it has in the past. I think Clarence Thomas' wife has b]put him in a terrible position, that I feel he has no concerns personally about. But Roberts? It will be very interesting to see this play out. Imagine the endless whining and moaning of Republicans had the situation been reversed? Incessant... Not sure what if anything Roberts can do. But it does provide a VERY NICE comparison between the two parties on the upcoming confirmation vote. A bunch of folks attacking a very good candidate, while complete ignoring potential wrongdoing on the court by one of their own. The Dems are still in some trouble, but this is the sort of shit that can motivate voters to the polls. HOPEFULLY. We really do not need any more Pro-Putin Republicans from the Trump side getting into office.
-
Just want to make sure that NOBODY here believes that Thomas will recuse himself on anything. Even considering a principled position, among anyone affiliated with the GOP means you have about a 1/2 percent chance the person in question has ANY principles at all.

You know... It's gotta suck to come out of the Hospital and hear" Friend, how are you feeling?" then see the news cycle.

Yeah I went back and looked at the Costco site and they did have a Traeger listed but it was like a 34 without wifi, and a Traeger 22 for $599 with wifi.
-
Didn't stop GWB from becoming President...
-
THANK YOU! I was looking at a Louisiana Grill when I searched costco for Pellet Grills once I was hitting that $500 mark on a portable. They had what seemed like a decent unit for $599. Only $100 more than the portable... But super nice to hear you like the quality. Louisiana Grills SL 1000 Does not have WiFi though

The Supremes are packed and partisan... .... because that is EXACTLY what Republicans want. Because, It the only way a minority party can have long lasting effect on the majority, in our system.

I think Bill Maher would like to have a word with you on this "New" cancel culture thing... -
The $350 Pit Boss was too small as the hopper was at the back. I was leaning towards the model with the bottle opener, for obvious reasons. I have a feeling that it's gonna be hard to actually go see some of the portables in Austin. I know the capacity is going to be minuscule for the price, but 90% of the time it's just the wife and I. The small Weber we haul works great, but the coastal winds make it a fast and hot burning fire. So it's only for grilling. I definitely need to make sure the sear function is decent on whatever I decide.
-
I like to go to the coast for like a week at a time, in our trailer. I did a Month in Port A last year and having a smoker would be awesome. Plus it's small enough where if I wanted to i could put it in the trailer when we some back to Austin. I plan on doing more beachfront camping this year and if it will fit in my truck bed I will use it more. I have two full size stick smokers at the house so this is just an extra for camping. I would probably fire it up at home sometimes, especially if I upgrade to some sort of wifi unit. I grill/smoke a shit ton at home. Being able to smoke and fish the surf all day sounds like a nice combo to me.

2022 Summer Season: Flavor-Aid (Strength: Prison Wine)
horn4life replied to BurntOrange&White's topic in Football
There are only three real questions for me- 1) Can we play with Alabama? Make it competitive for at least a half? Or does it go dark... 2) Can we cobble together a decent O-line, to give our QB time to something more than run for his life? 3) Will players have stepped up into TRUE leadership roles on the team? I blame a lot of our second half collapses on a lack of team leadership. Especially relating to intensity when we do get ahead. It's not unique to Texas football. Most any team without leaders on the field ratcheting up the pressure when AHEAD is doomed to have the game tighten, with a potential loss as the emotion flows out of the team as the other team emotionally surges mounting a comeback. It's hard for me objectively to say that we will be in a worse position this year than we were last year when the season started. Of course 'Bama stomps a mud hole in us and that emotional #3 looms especially large going forward. So I am cautiously optimistic. Bama will be a big indicator! But damn guys, can't we get just a tiny bit of non-shit flavored kool aid? Maybe only on Sunny weather weekdays for example... 😉 -
OK so I did some cursory research on a portable. But like I said yesterday, I have almost zero knowledge on specifics. Seeing some of you loading up carloads of pellets made me also wonder about the "running cost?" Charcoal isn't especially cheap, and I do load up on sales knowing I will use it eventually so that's not a concern, just is there any rule of thumb regarding pellets per hour, or general hopper needs for length cooking time. My shit would almost all be low and slow over the course of a day at the beach, or floating the river. So for me I m looking at this as something I leave unattended, which sort of makes me nervous, but what's the worst? Unit burns up? Anyhow I found a couple units that seem like they might work. How do you think a higher wind environment will affect temperature control? Pellet Burn rate? It's windy at the coast. Camp Chef Pursuit 20 - $500 Pit Boss 260PSP2 - $350 Pit Boss 260PSP2 - $350 Any other suggestions for me to look at? Or places that might have portables in inventory IN AUSTIN to prod and poke?

I keep debating a pellet grill. I can totally see the advantages. It's basically a crock pot, for BBQ. Set it and forget it.. as George Foreman might say. I will probably break down and buy one in a couple years. I basically do my briskets now with a couple hours on the smoker then wrap and toss into the oven. Simply as overnight coal tending isn't as exciting as it used to be. The ability to cook remotely does have some appeal to me, and the consistency in holding temp is really sort of what green egg is selling. I would say if you already know how to cook with charcoal in a stick burner, and want the convenience, go for a pellet. But I would advise you to still learn the art of making, tending and controlling a fire. Then you can cook on any campground grill/ smoker anywhere and produce a good product. I thought about an electric smoker for the coast, but maybe a smaller pellet grill might be a better spending of my money. Any suggestions on something smaller that I could secure at the coast while I am out fishing?

Mo Brooks (AL) has rising sea levels figured out
horn4life replied to Gil Bang's topic in Cloak Room
By the weekend, Trump will give us video stating he doesn't even know who Mo Brooks is... -
What I like is the story line of "court packing..." When the GOP has already packed the court. When the GOP twice changed the rules to seal space on the court. It's like playing monopoly for years and then all of a sudden one player decides that the old rules and precedents no longer apply. Then they change the rules again the exact opposite of what was their "principled" reasoning, in the first set of changes. So when I hear about how poorly some of the prior nominees were treated... Please... It's also good to remember that there was NO SEARCH FOR TRUTH regarding the allegations against Kavanaugh. The "investigation" was sort of like the one the Aggies did for the Bonfire Tragedy. A predetermined outcome without a search for truth.

I will also say be more honest than you think you should be. I was off the hook crazy when I was young. Very luckily I did not permanently damage my life as I danced along the edges of the cliffs. I saw a LOT, as from time I was 13 or 14 I was hanging with the older kids. While I want to protect them from some of the experiences I saw people go through, I think it's also important to not pretend you were never a kid with poor judgement. Some of the biggest bible thumping parents I know were frigging coke heads (from my perspective) in college. The actually pretend that they were never who they actually were. They need to know that you are human, and that they can come to you when they need help. They may not want to, but when the shit hits the fan, it's better to let me know at the earliest moment than when it's too potentially too late. I have always preached that "Everyone makes mistakes! The Secret is not to make the big ones!" Because of my coaching background I do honestly believe that embracing mistakes as a part of the progression to achievement is especially important. That's why I am mentioning it twice! 😉 As in today's instant gratification society, I think too many kids think of mistakes as some sort of grievous error rather than a learning process. NOBODY is a natural, people are naturally more gifted in some ways than others, but greatness can only be achieved through endless repetitive mistake making. Each mistake brings an adjustment, and improvement. Practice only makes you "perfect" after making uncountable mistakes that drove you to improve. -

I was talking about the physical West Mall. -
I guess I could go and check it out myself, But if I am heading downtown it's for music or food and not the West Mall. But I am just curious if that is still the case? One of the things I always like about UT was that every point of view (no matter how crazy or stupid) was allowed, though not necessarily embraced. I stepped on campus in '79, and with so many smaller organized groups today than then I wondered about the dynamics of the West Mall. This is a topic I have been thinking about a while, because more and more often speakers are shouted down, or organized against to the point where they are "uninvited." One of the very best classes I took at UT was a logic class. The speakers were varied, all were very convinced their point of view was correct, and usually their positions were eloquently presented. The spectrum went from Madeline Murray O'Hair to some General whose name I cannot recall. Listening, ESPECIALLY to a point of view I disagreed with, made me think! It was very interesting to break down the varying arguments and understand where their point of view differed or was flawed, usually based on the basic premises of the argument, and not all the effervescent details of deep thought they presented during their presentations. I still have no problem in engaging in serious (sometimes heated) debate. Usually I end up shutting the arguments down with either a hand shake or a head shake (if you don't know facts). I was mainly just curious about whether the West Mall is still a place where you can voice your opinion freely, even if I personally think it's stupid as shit?

As the father of two daughters, your first goal as a father is to prevent your daughter from becoming known as the blowjob queen! The bad news is the father of the blowjob queen rarely knows... ------ da dum------- The main thing needed to making sure your daughters are secure is really simply to spend a lot of quality time with them. Girls with Daddy issues are looking for one thing, love. And when young they inevitably confuse sexual intimacy with love. But a father spending time with a child lets them know they are loved and that makes them vastly more likely to be confident and secure, and thus happy. My whole thing is get your kid involved in SOMETHING!!!! Because if not they will get involved in something (you probably won't like). Do a cook off, take a hike, fly a kite, rent a canoe, coach a team, support their interests, sports, desires, let them take chances, let them know that ALL IMPROVEMENT come from MISTAKES! I also think that for girls team sports give them a better body image perception. Simply as that everyone's body is not an insta edited selfie. I could just put some cross sear lines on both sides with a hot fire and then move indirect and smother the fire. I would also not likely use a temp gauge, I would take more risk and go by touch simply not to lose any juice. Then rest it, and race it to the table. -

Seen some pretty decent shit so far. Wednesday was fun but sort of dangerous, as the first thing I did was go into a Pearl Stable event where it was open bar. Saw Rosie Flores then the Peterson bros and hammed a few jacks down. By the time I had an old fashioned at Vespaio I was pretty toasted. I would say one of the bands I enjoyed most was Silver Synthetic at SXSJ. Sort of a mix of Eagles, Allman Bros and Beach Boys. They seemed like just some dudes who liked to play music. Joseph a girl trio was also good and likely going places with their Dixie Chick vocals but more of a rock rooting. I ended up missing some of the stuff I wanted to see as usual, but Tomar and the FC's was worth the walk up the street to Lucy's as always. A good local band that puts on a solid show each set. The surprise was my after dinner glimpse of some old school punk from SurfBort at SXSJ. Reminded me of the old Club Foot days, with the unbridled wildness of the show. Wife watched from street as I made a quick move down to the front for the end of the show. Got a great video of the lead singer coming out among the mosh pit/crowd. It's hard for me to tear ass day after day. But went to Hotel Vegas early yesterday hoping to see Yard Act. But instead saw Chief Cleopatra, and about half of Surfbort's set. I actually liked the outdoors stage at Hotel Vegas and will add that to my future rotations. I then spend like 45 minutes trying to get from the east side to Travis Heights which was the usual SXSW nightmare. But I got my usual great parking spot by some miracle, as the streets were packed. I really wanted to see Buffalo Nickel, but then I saw Sue Foley was playing Continental at 4. Ran back out to my car to get my regular glasses and discovered the Kansas Women's basketball team bus had wedged itself into my car and a truck on opposite ends. I guess it was lucky I walked out because I don't know how the fuck they would have gotten that bus out of there had I not been able to move my wife's car and give the guy space to get down the street. So of course I missed the bands I wanted to see. Caught a few minutes of some solid country at CC in Jesse Daniels, and I am not the biggest country guy but there were solid and I would see them again. But made the best of it and ended us watching the most of the Seratones set, and l was super happy I saw Houndmouth! They fucking killed it! I love coming in cold on a band and having them blow me away. I did not do much research on them but knew they have a few semi hits, but they put on a hell of a show and moved into my number one position. if you get a chance go see them, they had a very good set at SXSJ. Now if I can talk the wife into going today I will make it for in a row!

Can I bring pot home from Colorado into Houston?

All I know is that in Texas edibles are like heroin in classification and charges. Vape pens? That little cool gadget is like carrying around 5 lbs of weed. Interesting read on the illegal use of plate scanners by law enforcement.
