  1. He's likely toast. They are saying he had said he had tapes showing he wasn't the primary aggressor, but did not turn them over to police. But who would be dumb enough to turn anything over to the police in this sort of situation without talking to your lawyer. So basically it sounds like the relationship wasn't the greatest. She broke his glasses. And he snapped and there seems to be a lot of physical evidence on her body. I guess he didn't choke her to the point of leaving any marks according to Texas Betas post. it will be interesting to see how this plays out. But I am assuming Beard will remember this as the worst decision of his life. And that he will indeed find another job and rehabilitate his coaching career somewhere. I also would not be at all surprised to see the choking aspect of the charges dropped. At least the boys finally got ahead of Rice!
  2. I knew a gal whose picture I saw browsing the December APD mugshots. She had been arrested for domestic violence and something else. Husband was a-hole scum bag and goaded her into a physical altercation. He did this to try and gain some leverage in a soon pending divorce. She went downtown and then all charges were dropped. I imagine that will be the outcome here. Perry Minton his attorney is saying "He is 100% innocent. "He should have never been arrested. The complainant wants him released immediately and all charges dismissed. It is truly inconceivable." It might all just be due to the BBC? The Bitches Be Crazy! Now all guys are assholes as the Flip side of the coin. But the BBC... it is real. Could also be that the officers were like a lot of referees, not Longhorn fans. Could be he lost control completely and she is lying to try and undo the 911 call. Way too early to prejudge anything. But you can keep the BBC pearl of wisdom.;-)
  3. well... Fuck me.... That's not good. I guess we are going to see the coaching prowess of Rodney Terry tonight? Most likely his wife. These things can be nuanced. Seen the scumbag spouse get the arrest, as they played the right carts to instigate it. HOWEVER, Chris Beard is a big guy with a known hot temper. Which can be great for coaching, but not so good when you get arrested. Not a good day for a team that was rising
  4. Just a little before and after on a roast I cooked to celebrate a graduation. Actually overbought and took the whole rib eye roast in the cryopack. But I need to get a bigger roaster! had to cutoff a monster 3-1/2 thick ribeye steak to get the uncooked meat to fit. I went ahead in cut off the ribs prior to cooking, and just tied it all back together with twine to cook. On a small roast I would do the rib work after the fact. But on a 15 pound roast... cut the ribs off first. Also a PSA if you like the pics. Randall's has Choice Ribeye Roasts for $6.99 a pound... until tomorrow Cooked it at 475 for 50 minutes, until it was smoking pretty good. Then shut the oven for a couple hours until the guest were soon to arrive, then finished at 375 until the thermometer hit 120. Turned out a perfect medium rare after resting. I need to get a roast pan that is a bit longer so I can cook the entire 7 ribs at once. I forgot to take a pic of the meat cutting, but it was great. I'll try to remember to take a big of the giant bone in ribeye steak before we devour it.
  5. I actually hope Colorado becomes good again. As I enjoyed playing them when they were good in the early big 12 years. Mainly, I enjoyed my Colorado tailgate parties, as I liked eating Buffalo burgers when they came to town. It will be interesting to see how Sanders fares. I hated him as a Houston fan, and for me his personality is too over the top. But it is a brand for him, and young kids will buy into that swag. You get enough of them and you dan do pretty well. What will be most interesting to me is can he build a TEAM? I thought Sanders was an amazing talent and a shitty teammate. I also think he will feast on the malcontents of the transfer portal, especially those that other coaches view as a character issue. But I will be curious to see how they deal with the adversity that certainly will come. But I do miss those mascot buffalo burgers.
  6. I like how folks that don't want to discuss a topic. In this case the warm embrace of racism that is necessary for the GOP to win elections, want to pretend that other aspects of their "thought process" (regurgitations) are of interest? I guess when you don't really have your own thoughts on something, it is a lot more difficult to defend most anything intellectually. Instead it is sort of necessity to change the subject. Sort of sad really, but perfectly understandable. That's exactly how so many support a party that cannot win without its loyal racist base. Instead the necessary defense is not to discuss, but to should from the hills "WHAT ABOUT..." Because... for some thinking and discussing a subject.. is simply too fucking hard. So... the whatabout defense is pretty much the trademark of the GOP now when asked to discuss much of anything. At least it is as predictable as racists tending to vote Republican, and the Republican party not rejecting those racists because they need the votes. That's sort of the dilemma.. But What About.... (insert regurgitation here)
  7. The last page and half sort of remind me of the huge roast I cooked yesterday. It must suck to try to cut one with a dull knife...
  8. I also think there is honestly a lot of rationalization on the issues, while pretending the underlying issue isn't racism in many instances. Some folks probably honestly believe that they are not racist even thought the party they endorse has shown a special tolerance for racism. A lot of folks I know point to taxes as their reason for voting Republican. But their comments belie perhaps a reason far beyond taxes IMHO.
  9. I don't know if I would go for the snorkel but hell if it's for fishing, let's go where others can't! And maybe a deeper water crossing would be advantageous. That Airstream version is nice, but I would have to change my clothes outside after a day of fishing.
  10. Sportsmobile makes some nice 4x4 ones. https://sportsmobile.com/mercedes-benz-4x4-sprinter/Still want the shit pics!
  11. Hell If I was going to undertake a build, I would probably allocate some money to at the minimum tie in an RV drain connection next to your cleanout. If the land would allow it, I might try to pick a spot for the trailer that specifically would work after the house is done. For larger groups in the future perhaps. Then perhaps (depending ont he price) run a line DOWNHILL from the RV parking spot and ass an RV sewer drain. I had a vision of you attempting the master the dark art with your bucket, and begging you to add least add a RV drain to connect your portable poop tank to. Or promise to at least show us some photos of how much you regret getting shit on yourself! 😉
  12. $10,000... In San Antonio? I'm guessing maybe 1500 of these?
  13. That's the irony. Instead of muting the voices of racism there is a tacit embrace from top to bottom politically in the GOP. The problem is "abstain" means never winning a1st term presidency. When you are taking power with a minority of the vote (Supremes now represent a minority for example) you can't afford to lose anyone. So abstaining is as dangerous as anything to the GOP's national chances. Catch 22 for those old enough to remember the term.
  14. It is a dilemma, that once was pushed to the rear. Just a few years ago Racist jokes told at the country club were always preceded by a fervent look around, a lean forward, and a lowered voice. Now those jokes are told loudly and laughingly by the same folks that whispered the same jokes a few short years ago. But Trump changed all that, only because the GOP simply cannot and will not reject the racists in their party. Trump elevated the racist wing of the party, and danced with the devil when he said "good people on both sides" when referring to Nazis and White Supremacists. Most importantly there was almost no pushback at all from the rest of the party. You see... they know exactly who their most loyal voters are. Now let me be especially clear here. I am not saying that all Republicans are racist. What I am saying is that most racists are Republican, and they are necessary for Republicans to win elected office and certainly to ever have a shot at the Presidency. But the demographics are changing. And the future does not look very bright for a party that is nearly universally white at the Federal level, and whose values are simply not held by the younger generations that are beginning to vote more. The fact that young turnout has increased is a terrible indicator for Republicans. That is what you see the attacks on education, and the "brainwashing and indoctrination" of young college students. As if this silliness is a rationalization for young people turning away from a party that embrace racists as an electoral necessity. Now do I think a lot of the GOP wishes that they did not need the racist vote. But, the fact of the matter is they do. And that fact prevents the GOP from strong rejections of racism. Here is a good snapshot of the Republican reaction to Trump calling Nazis and White Supremacists "good people." I will also say that George W. Bush tried to get the party to lean away from racism. But even Bush needed the racists to win his Presidency with a minority of the votes. So the GOP is simply caught between a rock and a hard place. Denounce the racists and you risk not even achieving the narrow victories in Presidential races. But the voting population is changing and gradually getting younger. This is not to say that the Trump years have not helped spawn more you racists, because I believe that it has. But the problem is still the same, younger people are simply not as racist. The GOP could rid itself of the racist fairly easily simply by universally and strongly denying even a glimmer of support for the racist wing of the party! But what about the upcoming election they muse... So they are stuck. They can't grow their base. They have restricted voting access about as much as they can. They have gerrymandered extremely well in the states they control. And very narrow victories at the national level are still possible without the majority of the vote. But that very narrow window is closing. And I personally don't see how the party can move away from the racist base at this point. I think that the GOP could get back to having a platform and trying to occasionally actually bass legislation that is reasonable and bipartisan. And I see this as honestly the only way for the party to gradually mute the voices of those that clearly are supporters of racism in their party. But unfortunately I see the GOP playing the narrow victory playbook. I guess if there is a complete wipeout in several elections in row voices that denounce racism within the party will grow louder and louder. But right now, young people know that racist vote Republican, and they simply do not want to vote with the racists. Going forward that is going to be a numerical problem for the GOP, and I see no easy escape from what is still a base of necessity for the party. So let us hope that young people keep voting, and that in a few years the GOP can again be a party that at least attempts to become a bigger tent party. Because the current model is eventually going to lead to a dead end. And as a country we are better with strong debate, with an eye toward solutions. But you need two willing partners to come to this end, I fervently hope that the GOP can find a way to tack away from the racist base they cannot currently survive without. I honestly believe that a lot of leaders in the party wish they did not need this base. But moving away from them it is not going to be easy... just look at Majorie Taylor Greene as exhibit A.
  15. Well... somebody needs to pay Trump's share....
  16. I like when news is that... things are exactly the fucking same as they always have been! But those without knowledge of the rules will be outraged when they become aware of the reality of the world around them? Or just the GOP usual... fake outrage? I just wish the GOP could actually solve one mother fucking problem at the Federal Level in our lifetimes. I cannot honestly think of the last meaningful federal legislation passed by the GOP that simply was not a tax cut for the rich.
  17. Buy a great used RV from an older responsible person, as a second buyer would be my advice. The prior owner had every frigging record and receipt, as well as lists for setup and breakdown. Plus they had already found out what was screwed up, and had it repaired. I will also say that one thing that was important to us was a quality bed. Again the prior owners spend like and extra grand for a better bed so it's more like your home bed. What I did was some solid research on a couple models that would satisfy my requirements of being able to stay cool in Summer (for you warm in winter). Then I scoured most of the state on Craigslist, finding the rig in San Antonio. I was in no hurry and was willing to wait for the right deal. It took maybe 6 weeks to find exactly what I wanted at a "deal" price. Sounds like a solid trailer is exactly what you need. Gonna need to find a way to dump your black water tank into your septic, but other than that it should work for you.
  18. The thing that surprised us after getting a trailer was how it became "home" so quickly, compared to our usual condo/hotel stays. It just felt so much more like "home" that it honestly surprised us. I guess it's knowing where all your crap is, but still the feeling was surprising and we both noted it. I will also say that I would NEVER consider buying anything built during covid. RV's are already notorious for crappy construction, during covid you were a potential assembly line employee if you can identify two types of screwdrivers... and that was the "high bar." Anyhow I think a trailer is doable, but you just need to pay good attention to insulation and keeping any water lines from freezing. A heated water intake hose would also be a must in potentially freezing weather. But the idea will work with some solid prep.
  19. I will say this my little Coachmen Freedom Express kicked ass during the snowpocolypse. I bought it specifically because of the Aluminum Frame, adzel siding, and supposed winterization. It was very comfortable, and we did not need to layer up to stay warm. It has a sealed bottom, and I never had to do a black water dump. The Azdel apparently has a higher R factor and the rig has been comfortable from 107 to 26 degrees, even though a lightweight towable. If I were going to park all winter I would probably do some sort of insulated skirt around the bottom. I think the main thing is simply to not let the pipes freeze, especially if you might be gone for extended periods. If you had a big ass propane tank and enough electric to run the fan for the heater, you could make it all winter with unfrozen pipes. I doubt an Airstream is gonna be winterized enough for a real winter, but I could be wrong. And a nearby VRBO is probably a better option unless you are spending. lot of time on the property during the build (which you should be, but that's another thread).
  20. FIFY 😉
  21. Bijan's an odd ball. Not unlike Ricky, in that he may place not as high a value on money as some other might. The other difference is that there is an opportunity to still make millions of dollars AND come back for the record books... and potentially the Heisman. How much extra NIL side money could he make returning as "the favorite" for the Heisman Trophy going into 2023? I could also see Bijan just wanting to have one more year of youth with a senior year at Texas. I think he knows the money is going to be there in amounts larger than he could have imagined as a youngster. But a statue at DKR like Ricky and Earl have? Priceless honestly. So I could see him come back. Remember almost nobody thought Ricky was going to turn down the big bucks and return. He did and it set Texas on the path to an eventual national title. I could imagine Bijan seeing his situation a lot like Ricky's back in 1998, and thinking his Heisman dreams are not yet over. I sure hope so. But either way he is a wonderful example of a teammate and a person, beyond his amazing football talents. If he wasn't such an amazing teammate and person, the conversation about even the potential of returning wouldn't be even a possibility.
  22. Right now I see Elon as A&M in the fall of 2022. Still hopeful after a huge loss, but confused on the path forward after sighing a ridiculously large and bad no cut head coaching contract. Elon is damed no mater what he does. And it all starts with arrogance, and little twitter fingers. They guy has fucked the company up, and hasn't got what I consider any positive press since Musk's purchase. The only thing we know for sure is that Musk is a whore. He is losing money due to his own decision making and is willing to take any revenue stream he can. Which again devalues the platform as more quality people and companies choose elsewhere to spend their time and money. NOW... that the shit is apparent we are beginning to hear the "too much on his plate" scapegoat. Much better to be too busy, than too stupid. Musk is an engineering genius. But twitter wasn't an engineering problem... oops...
  23. Fuck I LOVE this Aggie victory. Because it truly has provided Aggies Hope! And without hope, bone crushing disappointment cannot follow. I'll give up a little lift for the Aggies, with huge gulp of disappointment for LSU, for the future of an October full of WTF and Aggie tears. Hope... will being us sweet Aggie tears.
  24. Just because there is not a lot of opportunity for this quote to be used, but since you mentioned birds... “I spent a lot of money on booze, birds, and fast cars. The rest I just squandered.” ― George Best Since I saw a couple of folks had also been blessed by the helpful information of the Biden Turkey Price Crisis- you can feel free to screenshot this and blow some minds. Or send it to the Turkey Stressed... post to facebook, etc. It's also totally cool to say "I love you!" after trying to insert your does of patriotic reality. In fact i think it's s good idea.
  25. The Supreme court now represents a Minority of the American People. The racist minority to be specific. No longer will racist gerrymandering be even looked at. As "just because redistricting by Republicans always dilutes minority votes with the more racist white rural votes... you cannot judge the outcome for its reality. Because you cannot be certain that an action that repeated causes a racist outcome is racist. You know who I actually think is the biggest racist on the court... Clarence Thomas. He loathes his skin color and likes to pretend that race doesn't exist and that his skin color has nothing to do with HIS success. When in fact he really has a lot in common with Herschel Walker. He was the best choice for a Black Republican to check a racial box. Nothing more, nothing less. It was his skin color rather that was the primary reason for nomination. To think otherwise is silliness. Like Walker... he is "one of the good ones" to use Republican vernacular. The Supreme court will likely move as much decision making as they can to the State houses. As without states being able to gerrymander, the GOP has zero chance of winning in congress with any consistency. Simply as nationally they lose the vote by millions of votes every national election. In fact I we may never again see a Republican elected with the majority of the vote in our lifetimes. Instead the GOP will do what they have done for years. Focus on bringing racism and fear forward in rural areas, to try and win the electoral college with a minority of the vote. It is the only pathway for the GOP currently. The supremes will allow the most extreme race based redistricting to move forward. Because... otherwise there will never be an opportunity for the Minority to pack the Supreme Court. Which is exactly why the Supreme court can look past the actual outcomes of disenfranchising the black and minority vote, and pretend "we have no idea what the intent was..." in redistricting.
