  1. Sorry about the clearly CR post on the Football Board regarding Farve.  I was drunk, and thought I WAS in the cloakroom.

  2. She was gonna do this, but too complicated for her...
  3. I know it seems silly to cut off voter registration a month before the election, but the last thing the GOP wants is greater voter participation. So the barrier is in place. So if you are not currently registered and desire to exercise your right to vote, today is the cutoff for registration.
  4. I think I can confidently say that OU is 100% down on offense. And 49% down on defense...
  5. Texas brings power Sooner fans start to cower Pain for every hour
  6. Just got back so here's what I saw. Beach is wider and scoured from the storm surge far beyond the normal Port Aransas groomed beached. Wind was still up and the storm surge was still receding. But nice and flat with a 10 mph breeze this AM. Seems to be back to more a traditional off season crowd but slightly more crowded than pre-covid from my observation. Water was clear and the reds are in the surf, as had already likely been reported. I guess the best gauge of the crowd was that we got in about 4 and put our name on the La Playa list. Missed our call, but still got seats on the porch, so the wait list did not fill the restaurant. And it's so nice to have just a couple degrees scrubbed off in the evenings. Anyhow going to boomerang back in a couple days.
  7. Texas 43 WVA - 29 RB Room - 246
  8. Well, she is one of His Judges....
  9. Ahh... the October rate change... makes perfect sense. That's why we used to go. I haven't touched my fishing gear for a couple months (sadly, sadly) but I can almost hear the line sing and that pole cranked over as my fat ass sprints across the sand, as that PVC pole holder starts the move toward the surf. See, Ya soon... and often in October!
  10. Why's it going to be so busy this weekend? Fishing Tourney? The La Playa list comes out right about 4 pm. Seems like they often just take it back inside after they get a list larger than capacity. I tend to go either beef fajitas of a fish special, but they also have an off menu crab stuffed portobello mushroom app that is tasty. They don't always have the shrooms. One thing I discovered last time down was that I can get on the wait list at Virgina's online... Smoked tuna dip.
  11. Well, the fact this hasn't popped back up must mean my, pre-covid dreams have been answered. Port A, is now a non-(normal) tourist area for a brief and fleeting moment. Looking forward to this weekend, and the next few good tides and good weather patterns the next month. And don't any of you other fuckers that are normally not in Port A in October, get any fucking ideas!!!
  12. Brain farts, a lack of killer instinct... and the fucking wildcat...
  13. Texas 46 - Tech 27 WR Yard 191
  14. Hate is reserved for OU because it's a fucking Rivalry. A&M is more a blend of laughter and amusement 90% of the time. Hate just isn't there with them for me. I do now hate on LSU, after the fake fucking cramping to use as Defensive timeouts, and then lying about the A/C. TCU has only kicked us when we are down, so I don't have a level of hate for them yet. Beat us this year, and I am probably there. Tech is a team I have always rooted for except when playing us. But this week they are Tortilla Tossing MoFo's. I have never been to a game in Lubbock.. because... well Lubbock. But they are a feisty lot, and I might dislike them if I traveled there and was "welcomed" with hate. Rice is also a school I always root for, because of academics for the Athletes. Plus the fucking MOB! Only half-time shows I have ever truly anticipated!
  15. Texas 39 -19 with a late 7 points by UTEP as time runs out. But I understand how it might have confused Wahlberg... 😉
  16. 39 -19 with a late 7 points by UTEP as time runs out. We see that the twos are getting better, and are light years ahead of last year. No matter who the QB is there is enough talent to just play sandlot and kick some ass. I really think this game is bigger than a lot of folks think. It's a character game. When the standard truly rises. it's hard not to do well. I do not think we are going to struggle, with the greatest respect to UTSA. I think the kids are starting to buy in, and the talent level is rising. as for QB it's next man up. and Malik is kicking the shit out of his own ass...

  18. This game will be a very good game of evaluating whether indeed we have developed a new and higher standard. If so then we will dominate, and the ability to get reps to depth against a still quality opponent in the second half. OR we will fall victim to listening in how great we are. Well not we... but our players. My belief is that there is now a core group of upperclassmen who have shown the path. It's something coaches want more than anything, but it's something only players can do. Greatness only comes with accountability. And true accountability comes from the guy nest to you, and the shame that comes with being the weakest link. I think we are very close to this place now. With the young talent pushing the physical side of talent, and a new accountability building more and more as leaders demand more of their teammates. This game will let us know whether or not we can play to a new higher standard? As I am fervently hoping. It will be hard not to fall back to some degree emotionally. IF we truly have raised the bar to a higher standard, it will be apparent in the lack of, or the perfection of consistently high levels of error free play. IF we have raised the bar. there will be nearly no starters playing in the 4th quarter, and we will get a glimmer of Malik. Not necessarily because the offense was so potent, but because the defense was relentless. I want to see discipline and consistency. THAT more than anything will let us know if we have indeed raised the bar.
  19. Aggies always make the same fucking coaching mistake. The actually believe other folks WANT their coach... who hasn't won a fucking thing. Francione- well Mack Brown was getting an extension First couple million down the drain Sumlin - we are on the cusp of greatness and although nobody is stepping up to offer as much, I mean 19-6 in the SEC... Let's drop more millions! Jimbo - October 15th of Last year A&M bit off a 10 year no cut $95 million contract with Fisher Jimbo Fisher contract buyout largest EVER! And it's not even close And the Aggies actually wonder why they have a reputation for being stupid?
  20. Texas Cheers and Aggie Tears both bring a smile to my face. But it's especially funny this year where the usual Aggie optimism from beating up the little sisters of the poor in September usually holds on until October. Most importantly I think A&M fans with half a brain see this weekend not unlike the way I do. A changing of the guard, where the reality seems to be that the teams are going in opposite directions. Before this weekend I think you could ask the average Aggie, and they would have been disappointed at a potential pairing in the Bowls with Texas. Now the Idea of a Bowl playing against Texas would be something to be feared. The worm has turned. I also think that Texas seems so much more mentally tough this year. Still time to screw things up, but the overall team play this weekend for the Horns was beyond even the greatest expectations of Texas fans. But in a Tip of the Hat to the Aggies, they are directly responsible for the very first GAMEDAY ever at Appalachian State. News that was made before the $1.5 million check cleared.
  21. I hate to fucking lose the game but we were supposed to get BLOWN OUT! The fact the team did not implode emotionally for a rout after Ewers went down shows a much greater mental toughness than in past years. If you are not ecstatic with the defensive play you must have some sort of prior season memory loss. The one thing I noted most from the first game was just the physical appearance of out DL. More fit, less gut. Just a really, really outstanding game played by the defense. How they don't end up with a safety called by the referees was frustrating, but the played extremely well. Almost winning the game on the last blitz gone awry. The offensive line was able to go much more head to head than I thought they would. Still too young to just line up and stuff the ball down folks throats, but much improved over last year and brimming with youth that will add more and more quality depth. Card performed well, especially considering he was hobbled early on in his day. I think with a little more ability to move each play he would have ended up building more momentum. But alas that was not to be the case. Hopefully his ankle will be better next week, but time to get #3 and #4 some more reps, as Ewers will be out a few weeks at the minimum. It stings to come so close to greatness, but a lot of folks here would have been happy just to not get blown out. I think from the emotional toughness in a game full of adversity and some calls really not going our way shows this team has emotionally stepped forward. I think they proved physically they are a lot farther along than many of us had hoped. It will be very interesting to see what this team looks like at the end of the season! Hook'em!
  22. Texas 41 Bama 39 Ewers 291 Never stop dreaming!
  23. Don't know how many of you guys are blues lovers such as myself, but last year I found a hidden jewel in Ausin. The Eastside Kings Festival. Compared to Austin's other lauded and profitable festivals this event is a throwback to days gone by. IT's never going to be a big deal simply because so many of the participants are in their 70's. But if you love the blues I cannot recommend enough going and checking out the shows this weekend. There are two shows at Antones, but many of the same players can be seen in smaller venues on Eat 12th and Chicon. This "festival" is more a labor of love than an opportunity to profit for the promoters. If you love the blues and would like to see some of the old time players who helped lay the foundation of America's home grown music this is a fun low cost way to see some classic players. The wife and I really enjoyed it last year. We got some great seats at the King Bee on East 12 and watched a succession of great blues performances to our enjoyment. The tickets were $25 for the day, and it was sort of fun to check out the bars on 12th that I don't normally frequent living in NW Austin. Anyhow if you love the blues go see some of the best old blues players you will ever get a chance to see. Hopefully after the Alabama game we ourselves will NOT have the blues, but this is a great way to hear the blues! Like I said, this is likely the least profitable festival in Austin. But it has become one that was easy to enjoy. If you love the blues, do yourself a favor and grab a friend, gal or wife and go check it out if you like the old school blues. Bring hearing protection as in the small venues some of these guys crank it pretty loud. https://www.eastsidekingsfest.com/ I had meant to go prior to covid, and went last year finally. It's not fancy at all, but if you want to see some real blues players and give them some love, this is a little known festival that has grown a little closer to my heart after attending. I haven't looked over the billings very well, but I know there are some jewels in their. Bloodiest Sax caught my eye for example not knowing WTF that is. But I guess I'll find out! Hopefully I am giddy like a mofo Saturday night after a Texas victory over Alabama, but if likely reality plays out at least I can hear the blues as I feel them! 😉
