  1. Wow sort of surprised so many wanted to pass on all the costs. But maybe that is the only way to get the stupid to wise up?
  2. I opted for a 25% starting point with my vote. But I do agree that premium surcharges might be the most effective as a more gentle carrot. Ny biggest problem of the displacement of those who need treatment for the usual maladies and TRUE emergencies. A slow and steady steam of the stupid into the emergency room is simply not a cost effective model. So there are real costs involved that oftentimes are going to be picked up by the taxpayers simply do to stupidity. I was surprised to see so many say pass all the costs through, but I get the frustration.
  3. There are basically two ways to change behavior. The carrot and the stick. We have for over a year been trying to convince folks to be smart and protect themselves and help our country get back to normal. I think now it's time for the stick. So what is your opinion? Time to start passing on some of the costs as an incentie to get a FREE SHOT?

  5. Ran into my buddy the other day, and he asked me if I knew the Council Member. I laughed and said, "Yeah, her handle was "FitLump" on the BBS i frequent." Well apparently she was stalking the poor guy. His wife I think texted her to knock it off, and then she starting calling him from another number. He's getting a divorce anyhow, but he was like WTF a stalker. I guess she's low hanging fruit, or just really loves low hanging fruit, if you get my drift.
  6. I don't have a real problem with Neal Young pulling his music but I wish Rogan would just change for the better. Rogan knows his audience, and overall they aren't that bright, IMHO. He is trying to make money, spotify is trying to make money, Neal Young said, "I may lose money, but damn somebody needs to bring attention to this bullshit." Funny that the right wing snowflakes that while more mightily than a bitter North wind, think that "this" sort of cancel culture is bad. I personally don't like cancel culture much at all, but allowing people to vote with their pocketbooks? Spotify should have seemly told Rogan he needed to better vet his covid related guests and be certain he was not endangering his audience with mis-information. Rogan could have given his mea culpa and then it all could have gone away. The problem is that nothing at all was ever going to happen, unless money became involved for Spotify. Rogan has his deal, and this shit will likely make a good portion of his audience even more loyal IMHO. Everyone wants the money and nobody wants accountability. Maybe if you don't want content accountability, you shouldn't get the money?
  7. Dude! In Texas that's the only sort of infrastructure you can get.... without a toll....
  8. The depth and breadth of the stupidity of the anti-vax (nearly all trumpers) folks used to be mind boggling. But the reality for these folks is they are so emotionally invested in lies they believe that the TRUTH cannot be allowed to creep in. This is simply darwinism. Where for the first time political choice is a factor where the "failure to adapt" is a mental rather than natural selection. I wonder if the slow and steady march of the unvaccinated into hospitals will eventually come with a big additional financial burden for the unvaccinated? Seems like some of the costs of the stupidity, should begin to get passed onto the stupid, at some point.
  9. You really can't blame the GOP, since the tilted hard towards a more reliable racist base, this sort of Gerrymandering is their best bet. I wonder what the GOP majority would look like if they had the same districts as they did 20 years ago?
  10. Strangely I can remember a time long, long ago when the GOP often relied on factual information in decision making, and did not wholesale and embrace lies as a means of day to day rationalization for a myriad of uninformed political positions. Rogan is EXACTLY what a lot of males in the country want, and escape from reality. Joe Rogan is likely going to weather this, unless a couple more big names start hopping in with Neal Young. Even then Rogan will have a huge audience, because a large swath our our country WANTS to be misinformed. Because the misinformation, reinforced the misinformed opinions they already hold. Same as Fox News, lies don't matter, dollars matter. I wish the GOP as a collective was better informed. THE GOP is simply a minority race identity party. If you doubt this statement? I will give this as my evidence -- Unless you are 60 you haven't voted in an election where a first term Republican President actually received more votes than their Democratic opponent.
  11. The Bottom line on Kavanaugh is that the ALLEGATIONS, were not at all investigated by the FBI. There simply was no search for truth. But fuck, without lies is there even a GOP anymore?

  13. I'll be honest I am an old guty that tells filthy jokes and make suggestive comments all the time, that ARE FUNNY! The poor old pathetic bastards who are making pointed suggestive remarks to bartenders or waitresses, are simply fucking assholes. Assholes that simply never were very good at the pickup game, and generally did not kick ass in the single sexual game. To me it is more of a continuation of a lifetime of sexual failure... generation after generation of women have been subjected to it. I was grabbing a drink yesterday afternoon and the old timer next to me (even more old timer than me) told the gal cleaning wiping down the table behind us that she "would look bettter with a smile on your face." I turned laughing and said something along the lines of, "You should have just slapped the shit out of him!" and that indeed did bring a big grin to her face. Don't be the creepy leering old guy that thinks the cute waitress wants or needs your banter. They don't. I do give a lot of female and male service workers advice. But they are asking me, not me endlessly giving them unwanted advice. The service industry is a tough one, long term for family and relationship success. Over time more often than not the hours and temptation lead to strained personal relationships. Some folks can pull it off, but in general I would tell most any person working in the service industry to find some other job long term. Simply as they will be happier.
  14. I think that EVERYONE should spend at least some time in the service industry. Sort of like I think everybody should go to some college. Imply as the more exposure you have to your fellow man whose circumstances may be different than your own makes you a more well rounded and usually more compassionate person. It always pisses me off when folks are just screwing over the waiter, waitress or bartender. It's things you likely would never notice if you had not been in the service industry. Basically the problem I think with the service industry is that there is a certain segment of our society that simply wants to fuck people over. And to me that's not only sad for the person receiving the abuse, but for the person dishing it out. As their life must honestly suck. As how hard is it to be nice. I will also say that if you are nice to people, take time to learn their names if you go some place regularly, you will nearly always come out far, far ahead than any bitchiness might get you. Plus how much more enjoyable is your dining experience when you are nice to people? Now if you can't give me decent service, and can't to keep talking to the other employee while my water glass remains empty for half the meal, I might short your tip. Servers like this usually do not survive long, thankfully. Just be nice and I think your service is nearly always better. And if you have been in the service industry you tend to be nicer and tip better, is my life's experience. I think the service industry is evolving and things like health care and vacation are eventually going to be more the norm than the exception. Simply as successful owners will want to retain rather than retrain quality employees.
  15. Meatloaf was... well a Meatloaf. Paradise by the Dashboard Light is a classic. Young Love at its finest with a dose of reality... "waiting for the end of time." Hope he actually did get vaxxed and boosted, but sounds like maybe not. Still a tip of the hat to the 'Loaf.
  16. Unfortunately the staff of hospitals bears the blunt of the blow from the determination of the unvaccinated to remain a health liability. There is no changing of minds on this. So yes, Hospitals are forced to use covid positive people to try and help care for other covid positive patients. Because... the surge in hospital occupancy ( the vast majority of which are unvaccinated) is simply a never ending line of the determined. What will be interesting to see is how rural America where vaccination rates are much lower, and access to hospital care is considerably less per capita, fares statistically. The sad thing is that most of these hospitalizations are simply due to making uninformed choices. In states that refused medicaid dollars for their citizenry, there has been an across the board reduction in rural hospital access over the last decade or so. This will also play into who even has access to a hospital to potentially be admitted into. The great news is if you have been vaccinated and boosted, you are dramatically less likely to become severely ill and need hospitalization. Because you followed science...
  17. Yeah I was looking at some of the offerings at REI last week. I think I was looking at a bonfire pit. I was trying to decide if it was worth lugging around, or not. Good news is my kid works at REI so I can get a decent discount.
  18. The main thing for me would be to scope out the site without my trailer in tow. PINS is also not at compact as say the always groomed Port A. This time of year for PINS you might try camping on the laguna side, at the Bird Island Basin. Especially if you want to fly fish out your back door. Then you can zip out to the PINS beach, and fish multiple cuts in your truck. Or Malaquite beach has spots that back up to the beach, but no hookups. I would also have your concerns about turning around a big rig, and that would make me pretty conservative in my decision making on picking out a spot. I would also be VERY aware of the tides. As today for example the tides are so low you can see every cut in the first sandbar. So you might also wake up to a high tide getting higher that could block you in. https://www.seagullcondos.com/live-surf-cam/?ref=portaransastex
  19. I would say PINS. Simply as the storm that took out the Bob Hall Pier also opened up the width of the beach considerably. I would probably do one day in one of the parks nearby to fill up and sanitize the freshwater tanks overnight, then flush everything and refill for boondocking. This would also allow me to drive/fish PINS and figure out where I felt comfortable parking my trailer on the beach. Also shorter drive... Just winterized my rig last weekend after using in the driveway as a temp covid camper. My adding a disconnect to the battery for storage actually surprised me in that the battery still had a pretty darn good charge on it. Ran the lights and heater for more than a day after a short tow, and I forgot to turn on the Breaker for the 30 amp at the house. The lack of battery power caused the heater to click repeatedly and not kicking on... Luckily I dug into the unit as one of the vents had come loose. Before I realized it was my own stupidity not turning on the breaker leaving the trailer on only battery power. I suggest if you take your trailer much off road that you buy some of the silver AC tape and secure the half turn vent attachments (if you have vented heat). Mine was hanging loose as there was a slight twist to the vent tube that torqued it off after some bouncing around. So the vent was exhausting through the intake. and every one of the connections leaked like a sieve. A little silver tape allowed both security and greater efficiency. I jalso ust bought another propane tank from COSTCO with a gauge on it, and filled up all my tanks. In anticipation of another ERCOT screw up, Snowpocolypse. Trailer saved our ass last year!
  20. Actually as I got notified this thread was revived. I think we can safely say that much of our country (the GOP) has been " Aggieized." To the rest of the civilized world ... "From the outside you can't understand it, and from the inside you can't explain it." In fact is that It is now impossible to be smart, and care about this country more than the Republican party and get through a GOP primary.
  21. Why is it that Republicans and Fox report the slimmest of possibilities as "news?" PHLaggie at least tells us right up front that his news is sheer speculation when the term "if this is true...." I look back at the 2010 elections when the GOP ran on "death panels" (which never ever were a possibility nor ever existed.") That Obama who went to church every week was really a muslim, and Trump was a Christian, because he never went to church... based on what? Skin color? Now the GOP has again ginned up the misinformation machine with their latest self created lie, Critical Race Theory. No let's be clear here CRT does exist, at the college level in as something that could be discussed. BUT NOT AS PART OF ANY FUCKING CURRICULUM. What this is about is again ginning up the racism that so permeates the Republican party. As I often say, not all Republicans are racist, but the vast majority of Racist are Republican. I understand why the GOP prefers to focus on lies, as if they focus on facts, it's a losing battle for a minority party. And yes the GOP is a minority party. But they can win narrow electoral victories in Presidential races while losing the Popular vote by millions. In fact unless you are 60+ years old you have never, ever participated in an election where a Republican Presidential candidate has won a first term election with the majority of the voters approval. The last Republican President to win a first term with the popular vote.......... Ronald fucking Reagan. That is why the GOP want fewer folks participating in Democracy, and they want small groups (of nearly exclusively old white men) in State governments to choose Electors rather then the voters choosing them. Sad the GOP is a party based on lies, and CRT is just another in a long line of misinformation, gobbled up by Republicans. Because... it's race based...
  22. Actually, I would love to coach again. Went out to T&C to see the semis of a Lonestar tournament last weekend. I do not miss hearing the fucking dumb ass parents on the sidelines thinking they are assistant coaches, that is, as always, an easy observation. It would be really fun to take a young U9-U10 team and turn them into bad asses. Or better yet ,help some younger coach to that, and take all the glory. THANK YOU for COACHING!!!
  23. Just use any decent recipe you want, and put a roach on the wall next to you as you eat it... 😉
