Lending (Giving) Money to Family
horn4life replied to 40acredropout's topic in Can You Help Me With This?
IF you have the money and she burns you, it will validate a lot of your misgivings and not destroy your finances. But do NOT expect to ever see this money again. The fact she is reaching out to you means you probably are truly a last resort. And to be honest the $1500 probably will not save her, but you would probably give her that money if you knew she were truly going to be out in the streets. If I had it I would likely do it. Though I'll be honest, I want to speak to a person, not reply to a text. I can gauge a lot more from a person's voice and demeanor in decision making. I would likely ask her to give you a call and "let's see what we can do." I would be more likely to ask about what are we actually covering here? And is there any way this amount could actually keep her whole until February. As $1500 isn't that big a pop for 6 months. -
A story about a pathetic man's downfall [34 Felony Convictions]

The one thing you need to remember is that the GOP is an unethical, dishonest, and undemocratic party now. SO... UNDERSTAND. that when Dems do something rightful, moral and legal. The Republicans will use the rightful, moral and legal actions by Democrats to justify their own dishonest, immoral and illegal actions. This is where we are. The GOP as a whole is a clear and present danger to American Democracy. That a party I used to be a member of when Reagan was president has morphed into a party based on complete and total dishonesty on most every issue I can think of is horrifying to me. The fact that they actually believe the lies instead of the truth means we have a large mob that can be convinced of anything, regardless of facts. And that should fucking scare the shit out of every American true patrieot in this country. -
I did nearly 35 minutes os self lobotomization wathing Laura Ingram wrestle a plastic bag. But toward the end she capitulated with "or another candidate..." When referencing Trumps 2024 run. It's gonna be tough for your well educated TOTAL FUCKING DUMB ASS NEIGHBOR to come to reality. Think of 105 in the driveway with the neighbor you never interact with. He expresses his outrage, and hatred of the oppression of the state. And all you notice is his expired by 8 months inspection sticker... And that, the least crazy of any cul-de-sac in America is right now.

The FBI has been instructed to especially look for Crayon. As those are most certainly Trump's personal papers. -
The griddle smelled because it was the first time you used it. Cook a bunch of sausage o (we put sil-pats under our cookware). ... good idea.

Hard to say we are truly in a recession when you are adding like 6 months of Donald Trump jobs production bragging in a single month. Economy is overheated but a lot of this is sthe result of the usual GOP massive deficit creation under Trump and the mind boggling giving away free money to millionaires even if they did not need it as the FIRST financial action of the pandemic. I know a guys whose company never wavered, and did better, he put close to $1.2 million in his pocket, without any need at all. A good analogy now to what the economy is doing is sort of like trying to see Bruce Springsteen and Tickemaster's dynamic pricing. The ticket says $50, but the demand says the ticket is now worth $250. You could say fuck it, but you haven't been to a concert in forever, and you pull the trigger because damnit you want it! Now gasoline is different, but that's largely the result of letting Russia and Saudi Arabia pump like crazy during the prior administration destroying the fracking industry. It was a smart play that made both the Saudi's and Russian's a shit ton of money when the supply tightened after our production went offline. But now the market is adjusting and consumption is being reduced from folks combining errands or other reduction of fuel use. So prices are falling even though production is only marginally increasing. Fuel was the single biggest driver of inflation this past year. And still probably is today even with the price falling it's still a buck more that a year ago. I sort of feel like the folks hurting the most are starting to say no, to those Springsteen tickets. Right now I think we have a decent opportunity to have a very mild recession. The reason I say this, is that I am beginning to see a LOT more inventory on the shelves at retailers. Now that's not going to decrease meat and produce because of the semi-monopoly nature of those industries from the processing side. But retailers and manufacturers are going to move the product on the shelves, and discounting price is how things ultimately are moved off the shelves. OR... layoff and shutdowns if they do not move. I think the supply chain woes will result in too much inventory as things smooth out. Real estate is already soft from interest rates pushing price and price reduction is around the corner if you want to move a house. The dichotomy of rising first time employment filings rising and the employment numbers skyrocketing is interesting to be sure. But folks who had covid check savlngs and seen that money evaporate, so they need work. Some industries are laying off Real Estate related for sure. But retail and hospitality is still desperate for workers. I am also now seeing more sales in the weekly grocery flyers. Where 4 months about only 5 or 6 items were truly "on sale." Fed may pop a full percent, but I am more worried about them overshooting on the rate increases than anything at this point. The lack of a coherent immigration policy also hurts us, especially on food price inflation. But that's another story

Paging Lester Hayes... 😉 -
Unfortunately for my lowly 1978 built ranch a 36 nch too too much space. So I went with a double oven lowly 30 range 😉 So this advice is more if you stay with the 30 inch footprint. You want a double oven range. Simply as you will be able to use the smaller much more efficient oven for most of your cooking. But you will praise the Lord when you host a meal like Thanksgiving or just a big party. Of course my wife wanted duel fuel, so I had to run both Gas line and 220 to the new location of range. I went back and forth on a hood versus a microwave hood, but went for a higher end convection microwave hood instead of just a vent because of economy of space. We rarely use the convection feature but that gives us the potential of 3 ovens when we entertain. And it has come up more than once to use all three. But mainly the double oven range. I will say that I bitched about the electric oven. But it is supposed to hold the temp more accurately for baking, but some of the feature like the "Sabbath Mode" allows you to put something in the oven and have it start and stop while you are gone, or start in middle of night. When you are shopping double oven ranges pay attention to the cubic feet. As you want as large an oven as possible. I would also make sure it has convection, simply as it's great for breads and meats. Gas cooktop is the shit, but if you wanted to go electric the new induction cook tops respond like gas. Good luck but if you don't go with a double oven you will regret it. GE double oven best buy

The problem is really the access point from the attic into the side of the fireplace is petty skinny, and that is really the hitch. The placement of the fireplace in in the interior but only 6 feet from the outside wall so the rafter point would already be skinny. Add the fact the roof is vaulted and its gets skinnier and a real PITA. I was going to actually remove the chimney cap to be able to see to route the lines. I think my access is probably just too fubar, but if I could get the leverage to drill a hole through the brick in the small crawl space then it could probably be done. But trying to fish the pex through might be a bitch (thus the remove the cap paln). My concern would be the connections point coming from any insert to the end of the pex connection. In other words does fireplace Gas insert have enough heat shielding to protect a pex fitting if connected there? I haven't done any research, just one of the questions/concerns. I actually have an electrical outlet in front of the fireplace and I could reroute that to create and electric insert, but gas.... is soo much nicer. And Snowpocolypse...

I think I have way to change the GOP's mind on Abortion. Attach immediate mandatory child support from conception, with criminal incarceration of up to 5 years, for failure to fulfill genetic "father" obligations. Put that on the ballot and let's see the embrace of the old white men on that small level of responsibility for men, when imposing a lifelong burden on a women for the same genetic interaction.

I think the secret sauce to political success this fall is women's freedom via the right to an abortion, simply because of... freedom to make your own decisions. But more importantly I think you need to focus on kids and their transition to adults and the complete at total hypocrisy on the issue. I would be addressing the lack of healthcare for pregnant women but they love a fetus. The horrific and now well of ten year nightmare of the Texas foster care system where the federal government has to sue the state to TRY to keep these kids safe, but they love a fetus. The compete failure of the juvenile justice system from a staffing and moral standpoint, but they love a fetus. The won't keep kids safe safe from angry 18 years olds at school, but they love a fetus. I would turn "but they love a fetus..." into a fucking bumper sticker as often as I would repeat it. And I would WIN!

Most Republican women simply never really thought the men would really be that stupid. Now I am not hanging with blue collar Republicans for the most part who quite honestly tend to be a lot more home and church based than some of the women I speak to. But for some reason they just really never thought access would be completely taken away. They still have the no worries, as my darling daughter will never have to worry about access (note to self: update her passport just in case). But I think emotionally it still made them stop and think for a second. And women have greater sympathy and empathy in general compared to men. I think you are going to see a decline of a fairly substantial nature among suburban women this Fall voting Republican. I thought you would see it, but you never know, and Kansas has kind of affirmed that. The most interesting thing about the result in Kansas? That the polls were pretty close, sort of like a lot of the Senate races this year. And when an issue in a state that has been purple, but more Red than Blue in power slots, breaks 60/40 against the priority issue of the Republican party? That's a damn good thing for our country!

What is important today kids is that in the first test of wills (VOTERS) the abortion issue is exactly what I have been saying it always is. Purely political, and the result minority rule. Minority rule due to the radical gaming of the system to seat three Trump judges with the fewest votes ever for confirmation, nominated by a man who did not receive more votes than his opponent! Now it's time for the GOP to reap what they have sown. Educated people are not stupid, and they know history, and they know that old white racist Republican men making making life decisions for women isn't a good thing. The good news is that I think this is going to be the main issue heading into the fall election simply as women vote more than men, and they are motivated not to lose MORE of their freedoms. It is also important to know that in this instance of trying to eliminate abortion for women in Kansas the GOP again tried to let the MINORITY rule by the timing of the vote. Designed to have the fewest voters possible make the decision. The entire Republican party is build not on a foundation of reduced turnout, and especially producing roadblocks for now-white rural voters as often as possible. But when you piss off the women in your country by having old white racist Elected Republicans mansplaining the need for raped women to carry children to term? You are going to permanently, move educated younger people out of your party's lane. I talk all the time to kids when I am out and about. If politics come up, I say, "If only you little fuckers would get out an vote all the decisions in Texas would not be made by old racist white men..." And then follow up with I know that going to a party, floating the river, or finding some weed ended up being more important last election"... and laugh heartily! They usually laugh too, but I hope the thought imprints. You see... I have a dream. I have a dream where more and more people vote in Texas. And that eventually we can turn away from a minority rule by old racist white men, to a more diverse, better educated, and moderate slate of elected officials. And save our country from the path the aging white racists are plotting for us...

I swear when I was looking at Trump being interviewed the other day I thought it looked like his eyes were more beady than usual. So I figured he had plastic surgery? But then I wondered is there a new "beady eyed" facelift now? Called the Tucker?
