  1. Again - If Republicans care so much about Children why is our Foster care system so abysmal? I mean there are armies of folks who love children so much they will stand all day and yell and scream and reach heavenward to save the child potentially being aborted. You want to have a good laugh. Stop one day at one of the protest lines and ask to meet their foster or adopted children. You see it's a lot easier to make a political issue about something that DOES NOT PERSONALLY AFFECT YOUR LIFE, than take responsibility and raise of take care of the ACTUAL CHILDREN you profess to care so much about PRIOR TO BIRTH. Basically the difference between Republican Christianity and actual Christianity, is that so much of the focus is on others. Others that need to conform their their "Christian" beliefs on things like abortion, gay marriage, black marrying whites (may or may not be a settled issue according to this Supreme Court), or what the parents of trans kids are doing. Never is it reflective, or broadly designed to help any group. For Republicans religion is mostly from my experience about judging others...
  2. One of the things I have never understood, and that has bothered me since where bought the house 20 years ago was no gas to the fireplace. It is especially annoying since the fireplace is in the middle of the house with only clean out under the log rack. So we don't use it. 20 years ago I did some research and it was too cumbersome. But now with the flexible gas pex and an insert I might just be able to make it work. A lot of the gas line after the fact into the old firebox made me nervous about screwing something up. had to requild the firebox because it was cracked and failed brick when I bought the house. So the brick work doesn't concern me much. Especially if I am putting an insert into the spot. Another reason I am thinking about this was the snowpocolype. If I put a natural gas unit in the existing fireplace enclosure I would not only be able to enjoy seeing a fire, but it might keep me from freezing in a future winter. So anybody done a fireplace insert install? Anyone run any Yellow Pex themselves? Seems like not that difficult a project. But that's what we all say before we are cussing our asses off! 😉
  3. Pass the jizz jar one minute... ... then white suit saying open your mouth... Ewe....
  4. If I was Beto, I would be running shit tons of Ads about the Texas Foster care system, and how the "lover of life and children" has abdicated his responsibility the the foster children in our care. Summer if for defining you opponent. The abortion outrage opens up an opportunity to point out the LIE of giving an actual crap about children or abortion beyond politics. The reality is that if Abbott were a parent, the children in his care would be taken by the state for their safety. Lots of documentation of the negligence toward the Children in Abbott's care."From bad to worse," U.S. Judge deplores Texas Foster care conditions ALSO- Don't feed the troll who prefers endless low percentage hypotheticals to every day realities. It's a waste of fucking time.
  5. I think that after we beat A&M folks will do it. I think it will likely the the only time, after that first victory. As I agree it's a stupid fucking chant. But it's stupid fucking chant the Aggies have adopted. And if I were a betting man, I am going to say that this is the one time the fan base breaks it out.
  6. I just thought of this. It's gonna be funny as fucking hell to hear Texas fans chant S..E..C... after we beat their asses at DKR. Stupid Aggies have been cheering the SEC, the way a water boy cheers on their high school team. They are just happy to be associated with the team. S..E...C... Then all the facilities hopes and prayers, then you realize their biggest event is at some fucking apartment pool. Fuck my high school graduation party my neighbor and I threw was 5 kegs and an open bar. And I think we were more than 10 kegs at our last Big Pool party at Spring Branch Pool long ago. Then I think of a apartment pool in College Station as a "huge event" and I guess... it's about like a couple parties I threw as an 18year old.
  7. All the advice above is pretty good. Usually overflow drain is someplace visible. Like near back door, or in front of kitchen window where you are more likely to see it. If your installation is new you should have an overflow cutoff sensor that cuts the power to the A/C. when the pan fills up in the attic. Basically the cutoff is so you get off your ass and go up and check why you are sweating... rather than figure out how to replace ceiling sheet rock and soggy moldy insulation. Always good to put some bleach down the drain pipe once a year as a precaution. If your drains are clogging it's hair a lot of the time. And that's something that you just have to stay on top of if it's a reoccurring problem.
  8. Finally answering a question for Texas fans since this little old lady began her search so long ago... It's all coming to Texas, and gorging on pancakes...
  9. Well ...welcome the fuck aboard! The secret is to have fun... but not too much fun! Get a degree, use your connections, and this scholarship and education will change your life.
  10. What you want to know is exactly what was purposefully deleted. Communication between and from Secret Service Agents during this period. I wonder how many of the insiders were going to help the President with the Coup? Were any of the members within the Secret Service assigned to Mike Pence supportive of the overthrow of the government? Since there are no limits to what a sociopath will do, I would have expected the assassination of Pelosi, Pence or another prominent Elected official. Then Donald Trump would have finally gotten up from his dining table and watching the coup unfold. He would have taken action. And declared martial law. Your Republican Neighbors today would still be more concerned about books in schools, but Joe Biden is in Prison. Your Republican neighbors would insist to you that The President had no choice but to enforce martial law, and he told us that he really won. "Did you hear Pelosi's husband got a DWI." Apparently the new Federal Congressional Oversight Police Force has taken over the investigation, and a special federal task force has been formed to investigate the matter and determine appropriate sentencing. You Republican neighbor will explain to you that the new streamlined court system where citizens no longer have to be bothered with jury duty is so much better. It's a lot easier to let government experts make decisions about guild or innocence, rather than uninformed citizens. And on and on and on.... Your Republican neighbor will tell you that everything is just fine. In fact after two years of operation of the new Federal Congressional Oversight Police Force the power has shifted enough in Congress that a new law has passed that allow President Trump to choose any replacements for Congress persons convicted by the Federal Congressional Oversight Police Force. A year after this change, the newly solidly Republican Congress with nearly 1/4 now hand picked by President Trump a new piece of legislation is put forth. Where the Presidential term limit is changed to 20 years, it is passed along party lines. Joe Biden dies in Prison... Your Republican neighbor explains to you that things have never been better in America. Just look at the Polling by the Presidential Media Supervisory Council's report silly!!!
  11. One opportunity lost was at the 180 minute mark, was to tell the American public that Trump had his thumb up his ass for TWO FUCKING SOCCER GAMES! Or in American.... an eternity! I'm a soccer guy, but that would have been a great sound bite, that all can understand.
  12. Dark horn4life says: Kill neighbor, BBQ neighbor. Use BBQ to attract neighbor. Kill neighbor, BBQ neighbor. Use BBQ to attract....
  13. oops.... Well welcome the fuck on board anyhow. And thanks for committing early!
  14. Just wanted to bounce this back up. While it's been a thrill ride since Arch came on board, I think it's important to note the first guy to hop on board. Even more importantly the fact Dylan Spencer in one of the big dogs on D that we are desperate for here on the 40 acres. Your commitment in March seems so long ago now. So thanks Dylan for being the first man in the boat! You have to be smiling now even more at the decision you made looking at all the talent that is coming in with you. Work hard, get an education while you work hard physically, and let these next 4 years change the path of not only your life, but the lives of those closest to you. Hook'em! And thanks for being first.
  15. Yeah I still remember my bitch Sister refusing to let me watch the glory of Gilligan's Island on the color TV, because she had already started watching Mr. Rogers in black and white... on the fucking color TV!
  16. Well since the GOP wants to take our legal system for women's freedom to the early 1920's they should do the same for weed. As it was legal until 1916...Of course marijuana was made illegal because of fears of... you guessed it... Mexican citizens. According to history.comWhy the US made Marijuana illegal? Fear of Mexican Immigrants
  17. Well did you think Republicans could form a national policy without a 3% foundation of proven success! Arm the teachers, more mental health! Even though we go out of our way to cut it at every opportunity. The fact we can't even prevent unstable kids who can't even be trusted to buy a beer a weapon so lethal it leaves more than 350 armed police officers staying down the hallway for safety. I have no problem having folks kill other killers. But allowing the folks that really want to kill a lot of people and have more firepower than the police they will encounter, are embraced with bloody hands by the GOP after these events. Simply as you can't get even perfectly reasonable gun legislation on background checks passed. Freedom for the mentally unbalanced to buy AR15's their senior year of high school is what is important. And yes I am certain that Fox News heavily covered the 3% scenario. While perhaps a lot of other media sources may have indeed have a lot more focus on the 97% scenario.
  18. After seeing the Matador Club my mind horrifically jumped to "Elephant Walk Club..."
  19. Hell just add the Secret Service to the Department of Justice and the Supreme Court to the list of institutions Trump corrupted... With the gleeful participation of Republicans who actually believed they were doing the will of God, or trying to save the white race, or whatever other tin hat shit the Secret Service agents protecting Trump believed.
  20. 376 members of law enforcement responded to the Uvalde School shooting. It wasn't numbers, it wasn't equipment, it wasn't leadership. It was officers that knew what an assault rifle can do, and they did not want to be shot. Nothing more, nothing less.
  21. So how many billions has Abbott taken away for his pet border issue unfunded boondoggle? Basically all GOP planning is the same... under normal circumstances... things should hold together. What about unusual circumstances? Who could every anticipate that anything out of the normal could every happen. ERCOT planning at it's finest. Of course, what is especially interesting to an ACTUAL fiscal conservative like myself is how much money Abbott can redirect to protect us from brown skinned people desperate for work (far and away the majority). Estimates are all we have, because Republicans are really, really bad about being fiscally accountable. But to me a billion dollars to create an un-legislated slush fund is bullshit. Not matter who is in office. I for one would like accurate accounting on Abbott's diversion of funds.
  22. The problem with Austin is no matter how many folks leave their is an endless army wanting to come to Austin. And it's not ending anytime soon. Real Estate is pulling back because of interest rates that's for certain. And yeah if you are working a 9-5 type job, your commute is likely hell. If you don't, and your schedule is flexible? Austin is still pretty nice. But with the annual increase in taxes I am going to need the income of a part time job just to cover that nut in 10 years. But if I were a local kid, the price of housing would freak me out. So that would mean a move. I honestly think that Corpus may be the next boom town simply as affordability is there. Only thing is it's extremely conservative, and thus not as funky and innovative. If you could transplant a shit ton of former Austinites there you might be able to get something going. For me I am probably gonna want to be within a couple hours of Houston or Austin so that may be a later life option, with lower property taxes. Now it's possible I could convince everyone to move to Colorado. It's the one of the few places compatible with my SIL's Petroleum Engineer degree, but that would be a miracle. So I guess I'll be here sweating my balls off, reading your tales for years... 😉
  23. I was also going to say this. At 51, you still have a ton of life ahead of you. I would very, very seriously also look at a passion you have, that you might be able to monetize. Again the fact you have some lead time creates a golden opportunity potentially out of an unsettling situation. The great thing about this route is that you would be willing to sacrifice to build something that is your baby. It also would mean that when you are 61 you would not potentially have a similar posting that is even more unsettling a decade from now. Again time is your friend. This sort of hits close to home as my wife's company is going to have to lay off some folks due to losing a large account. Probably not her, but it made us go through some of the worst case scenarios. We have had difficulties before, and we have always landed on our feet (luckily). But we also cobbled together a home life for our younger kids by both working part time and giving up some sizable cash to make sure one of us was always there for them as elementary school kids. Seeing them today as adults made that investment worth it. Though surely we would have a lot more retirement dollars had we said fuck it, slam them in after school care, and let's bank. In other words take this opportunity to not only look for another job, but for a life evaluation. Most folks simply want to cover their bills comfortably and not hate the means of doing that. Look for the unusual opportunity that might be the north star of the rest of your life. Maybe create a job you can't be removed from? While only a fool would say it's not scary to face losing your job at 51, you just might look back a year or two from now saying, this ended up allowing you a path you never could have imagined had this "disaster" not happened? Again good luck! PS - if you are thinking about self-employment, try to purchase any immediate need assets or leases while you still have a W-2. Then set up the company as a corp so it can create you a W-2. Probably not the route you will pursue, but you are crazy if you don't contemplate having control of your own destiny. Hell you could start a yard cutting service that specializes in putting up Christmas lights and have something going by the time you get laid off, and at least have cash flowing. Not a dream job. but a piece of a financial puzzle that could give you independence. Anyhow thought it worth at least thinking about.
