  1. Yes, some cities saw a rise in (for example) homicide rates during covid with some going up 30%. Austin went up 100% Crime is going "down" this year when compared to Garza's other worst years but still significantly higher than before he took office.
  2. Over 75 experienced prosecutors left the Travis County District Attorney's Office between 2021 and February 2024 source google A1. Travis County has largely relied upon the DA’s office to act on cases within 90 days. But when Garza took office in 2021, he all but disbanded that unit and assigned the duty to trial court attorneys who are already busy with settings and trials. https://www.kvue.com/article/news/investigations/defenders/missed-deadlines/jose-garza-missed-indictment-deadlines-update/269-51412436-b9a6-491a-94b0-974779e7106c I believe his last primary opponent had also left the DAs office after Garza took over.
  3. AUSTIN (KXAN) — The charge toward a 21-year-old man who was accused of organizing a street takeover in Austin in July 2023 was dismissed. This comes after he was convicted in an assault case that happened later that year, according to Travis County court documents. The street takeover occurred at the intersection of South Lamar Boulevard and Barton Springs Road on July 29, 2023. Court records showed the breakdown of messages exchanged between the organizer, Jacobi Patrick Erickson, and another person in the days leading up to the events in Austin. https://www.kxan.com/news/local/austin/charge-dismissed-against-austin-street-takeover-suspect-after-seperate-conviction/amp/ Greg Casar’s Austin legacy Neighbors concerned after students find used needles on Joslin Elementary playground https://www.kvue.com/article/news/local/neighbors-concerned-used-needles-joslin-elementary-playground/269-5b4f9e57-4498-4185-ac0a-a19aa87819ca#voc7kc1y3imvhfpcjwnal42ehkfh2irx

  10. looked like they were wrestling in a YMCA hall, and according to stories the victim is a Vet who joined the wrestling to help with his PTSD. I doubt he was counting on a lucrative career. Someone said earlier, a fully trained MMA fighter knows more than most just how dangerous what he did to a fully defenseless unconscious person is. He tried to kill him and should be charged as such. Will be a miracle if the victim doesn't have brain damage. It's attempted murder
  11. New NETFLIX UI on apple TV. They have gone to the large boxes that take up half the screen basically making browsing impossible/enraging. Fits a total of 4 movies on the screen to choose from
  12. If they designated him to the practice squad any team that claims him would be guaranteeing a roster spot for the season correct?
  13. Murder a 24 year old in the club and get deferred adjudication lmao Don't worry, Garza said he is now not allowed downtown between 9pm and 6am At least he is forced to reimburse the family for the funeral https://www.kxan.com/news/austin-club-shooting-man-receives-deferred-adjudication/ AUSTIN (KXAN) — A man was given deferred adjudication after accepting a plea deal in July. According to Travis County court documents, 26-year-old Adriean Dewayne Benn pleaded guilty to murder; however, he was sentenced for a second-degree manslaughter charge. The charge was related to the death of 24-year-old Jorian Donte Hardeway, who was shot at a downtown Austin nightclub on March 14, 2021. Court documents said, in addition to the five years of deferred adjudication, Benn must also complete 200 community service hours. He is also not allowed to possess firearms. Benn must also participate in an anger management program, and he is no longer allowed in the downtown Austin area between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. Benn must also pay $6,500 in restitution.

  17. Just caught up. There is a really good season in there split up into two solid ones. The biggest disappointment in regards to character development for me is the restaurant itself. It was a main character that grew and evolved through season 1&2 but has been frozen since S3E1 while repeating other themes.
  18. No homicides in DC for the last 7 days seems like a good thing.
