  1. Thanks for confirming the food is bad. I ate there only a few times back in the early 90's when I worked in the area, and thought the food was bland and lacked taste. I can only imagine how bad it is now if it has indeed declined over the past 20 years. I never made to the Arlington location so I have no idea about their food, so I will defer to you. I'm not a restaurant snob in any way, but in my experience, no Mexican food joint owned by non-Hispanics has ever really been good, just average at best. I may be wrong about that, but none come to mind.
  2. I've always felt they have some of the worst Mexican food in Fort Worth, and after reading names of the owners, I now know why. IMO this place is for tourists, or people too scared to go the Northside to eat authentic stuff.
  3. Thanks. Plus the weather looks horrible too. Going to be fun.
  4. A cheap seat at the game? You do know it's game 2 of the NBA Western Conference Semi-Finals right? If you do happen to snag "cheap" seats, check out Chris Mullin doing the Warriors pre-game TV show in Thrive City outside Chase.
  5. My two cents. I was there a few months ago for the first time since the pandemic. I was all over the city, took public transportation everywhere, and never felt unsafe. Aside from the Tenderloin, and Civic Center and mid-Market, I saw very few homeless, and no one ever bothered us. Also, I personally did not see any pee or poop on the sidewalks. That said, there are a few weird characters walking around, but that's what makes The City unique. I was more shocked by the number of places that have closed or have limited business hours, so plan accordingly.
  6. I'm going next week. Any seaweed issues currently?
  7. You might be exempt if you've been summoned in the past 2 years.
  8. Any idea when his place on S. Main is opening up?
  9. This location has plenty of parking.
  10. Really misjudged that Scooter's drive thru.
  11. Interesting that the Combo#1 ($5.70) is more expensive than the items sold separately (3.15+1.25+1.00=$5.40), if I'm reading the menu correctly. I know, I have way too much free time today!
  12. You are obviously under the age of 40, or have no regard for your life or for those around you. Ha!
  13. This is exactly what I've been doing lately! At our Central Market, skirt is about the same price as prime Top Sirloin per pound, but much more flavorful. Everything else is just too expensive. Once I get home, I marinate in olive oil, fresh lime juice, garlic, salt, pepper, Worcestershire, soy sauce and cilantro. Great tasting steak at a fraction of the price!
  14. I had been a couple of times and they weren't kidding about the garlic. I believe it was cash only too.
  15. U of A basketball game?
  16. How disappointing. I thought I might give their breakfast a shot. Those biscuits looked good.
  17. I hit Hurtado two weeks ago. First of all, I'm no BBQ snob, and I love when places live up to the hype, but I have to say this place was very underwhelming. Wife and I showed up at 10:30 as previously suggested, but there was really no line, just a few people still ordering breakfast. We went ahead and paid anyway and waited for the magical 11:00am hour to get our food. We got brisket and ribs only, with a side of beans and mac and cheese. No sausage since they said it wasn't ready yet. Really? The lean brisket was too dry and way over peppery for me, while the ribs tasted like they were left over from the previous day. Beans had a lot of chili powder, think Railhead, but the mac and cheese was really good. Without prompting, my wife said she didn't think the brisket was up to par either. I know I should go back and give them another try, but with too many other close options such as dependable Brix and Panther, why take the chance. Hopefully your experience will be better as I know every restaurant has a bad day now and then.
  18. No not yet. I'm going to wait until I have some time on a weekday and get there around 10:30. Have you done the burger too?
  19. How many on average are ahead of you at 10:30?
  20. Is Gusto's inside that new small hotel over there? Its a food truck that sits in the alley behind the hotel that you can access via the patio. There's a very small waiting next to the truck, or you can wait on the patio or in the bar. After you order they tell you when to check back, or sometimes they just come find you.
