  1. I was a big fan of Beltran when he was playing for the Astros, both times If he said the Astros’ title was tainted, he is a hypocrite and a piece of shit, taking no responsibility. He is the one that instigated all of the bullshit, and everyone knows it. Unbelievable how the New York press gives him a pass, with no blowback. Edit to say: I didn’t hear what he said, maybe he took responsibility. But I doubt it.
  2. Astros are still the Yankees’ daddy.
  3. This really belongs in the @Steel Shankthread, but here is some gravy that I made last week from pan drippings. Had leftover mashed potatoes and gravy from fried backstrap pan drippings the night before, the next day fried up a burger patty, patty went on top of the potatoes, then covered in the gravy. This is the proper gravy for homemade CFS, IMO. It slammed. And is very easy to do. How the fuck did Brat get into my photos and turn them sideways? FML
  4. The IRS has their collective heads up their asses. No telling what you are going to hear from them. For example, my wife died in early 2021, and later I filed our 2020 taxes jointly as I’d done for many years, and which was perfectly legal and correct to do. Couple of months later I get a letter from the IRS, “Hey, you filed a joint return with a person whose SSN belonged to a someone that is deceased.” Well, no shit, assholes. Can’t you look at your records and see that we’ve filed together for the last 25 fucking years? I had to fill out forms explaining why I filed that way and I included a copy of the death certificate. Got a refund a few months later. This year tax season rolls around, I file jointly for the last time - as is my right - and a few weeks later get the exact same letter as last year. They couldn’t be bothered to update the file last year. So I have to fill out the same bullshit forms and send another copy of the death certificate. Sorry to hijack your thread, but this is all to say that the IRS doesn’t know what the fuck they are doing, and your friend is probably going to have find a competent attorney that can walk the IRS through exactly how he did everything correctly. It is disgusting just how bad that organization is. Good luck to your co-worker.
  5. Yeah, and most importantly, he should be someone that elicits ground balls. Fuck the fly balls in that bandbox. Edit to say: I like it when our routine fly balls turn into home runs.
  6. I admit I haven’t watched softball Texas Gameday all year. But, csb, years ago when our daughter had just started playing softball, I read in the Chronicle a story of a great high school pitcher that was dominating everyone at Cy Springs HS and she was pitching that night. We lived in Cy Fair, so I loaded up the family to go watch her pitch. Cat was incredible, hard to describe how she dominated those girls. Been a big fan ever since.
  7. Cat is really, really good on the pregame. Texas Gameday. LHN
  8. Over/under on this game is currently at 16 according to a friend that bets this stuff. Give me the over.
  9. Yeah, he made it 250 miles in 3 weeks. If he’d had a bunch of help, I’d have to believe that he would have been long gone by now.
  10. Hinckley released? That’s insane. Guess we won’t be getting that True Detective season 4 after all.
  11. Doesn’t sound like you were a bad teammate to Ace.
  12. OK, that’s just straight up you knew what was going to happen. That’s not some bullshit voodoo “I figured it out from context clues” stuff. Feel free to PM me the rest of the season’s plot points so that I don’t have to wait around to watch it all.
  13. Ha ha. It didn’t work for Jack Nicholson.
  14. That’s what I finally did. This was back in Feb 2021, still the OG Covid strain I think. Kept treating intermittent low grade fever with Tylenol and aspirin, and it kept coming back every day. Fever was my worst symptom. Read somewhere that your body needed to fight it off by itself, so on the 7th day said “fuck it” and didn’t take anything for the fever. Got up to 101.7 that day for the first time, but when it broke a couple of hours later, it was over. Felt like a million bucks the next morning. That was it. Of course, this doesn’t in any way constitute medical advice. Your mileage may vary.
  15. An equitable fix should have nothing to do with the owner of the vehicle being liable for dick in the situation described above. I mean, goddamn, I go to my local JiffyLube, hand the keys over, dumbass gooses it and kills coworker, and I’m liable? Yes, @crash_davis, what the fuck is wrong with America? I’m coming around to the view of Shakespeare’s Dick the Butcher in Henry VI. Surly legal eagles excluded, of course.
  16. You’re goddamn right. If this ain’t Texas, I’ll kiss your ass
  17. As a teenager, I was pissed when Preston Gomez pinch hit for Don Wilson in the bottom of the 8th while Wilson was pitching a no hitter. In September. 1974. Wasn’t the first time Gomez did that to one of his pitchers. https://www.nytimes.com/1974/09/05/archives/gomez-again-lifts-pitcher-in-nohitter-astros-wilson-removed-during.html Edit to add: Would have been his 3rd no-hitter
  18. This is awesome. Damn near ten minutes of a fake American Greed episode that gives an overview of the first five seasons. Incredibly well done.
