The victim, a 60-year-old Provo resident, remained hospitalized Tuesday but was “stable,” according to police. The man was not part of the protest or counterprotest that had been going on, but was just driving in the area, said Provo Police Sgt. Nisha King.
  2. “Situational awareness demands”? Are you fucking kidding me? For the last 100 years plus, you could drive through Austin on any Saturday night and expect to not be molested by a mob walking through the streets and impeding traffic illegally. Austin is a destination for a lot of people. It could have been any one of us. It could have been me, from out of town and trying to get to where I needed to go. How the fuck would I have expected to encounter an unsanctioned protest march? Sad deal all around, and shouldn’t have happened. But to blame it on the driver for not having “situational awareness” that he shouldn’t have needed in Austin fucking Texas , for God’s sake - unbelievable.
  3. I’m cool with the trade-off of 8 pm west coast starts. Works for me.
  4. Deboned a 6 pound chicken, stuffed with jalapeño cornbread, trussed up, and smoked.
  5. Well, by God. That’s reason enough to burn it down. The horror!
  6. I have a question about “people with pre-existing cardiovascular disease”. Does that include people like me, not overweight but diagnosed with high blood pressure years ago that is being controlled effectively with medication? The high blood pressure runs in my family. I’ve never been able to pin down exactly what “pre-existing cardiovascular disease” means in the context of Covid-19 comorbitities.
  7. I was on a deer lease 20-25 years ago with a guy that killed his wife’s lover a year or two after I left the lease. His name was Chris, can’t remember the last name, had married a very cute gal half his age. I knew he was a bit high strung, so made it a rule to never talk to her around the campfire unless he was close enough to hear the conversation. The way I heard it, his wife was stepping out on him and Chris tracked them to a motel room and shot the paramour dead. Brazoria County, I think. Early ‘90s.
  8. My squirrel body count this year is 11, but those fuckers keep showing up to depredate my tomatoes. I got lazy after taking out 4 of them by late April, but have stepped up my game recently and got 7 in the last week. Tractor Supply traps baited with peanut butter and peanuts are said to be effective But they still keep coming.* * The above was a fictional account of a fictional backyard gardener.
  9. Miss Texas, Miss America, and was a fixture on the NFL Today pregame show from the mid ‘70’s to the mid ‘80’s. And was damn good at it.
  10. “And other aspects of structural racism could contribute to the elevated risk for black Americans.“ Ha ha fucking ha. “Structural racism” Yeah that’s the ticket
  11. I like that. Say it like you mean it, Jordon.
  12. Damn, Neil Armstrong seems like he was pretty smart. A stellar choice to command that first mission to the moon.
  13. SEC, SEC tied a record by having 40 players drafted in the first 3 rounds. aggy had 1 of those, in the 3rd round.
  14. So, where are all of the charts and graphs of the infections and deaths that were a staple of this thread for weeks? I’ve been checking in on this thread for that info for a while because people were doing a good job of updating it, but now I’m not seeing it. Has that info been moved to another thread? If so, could someone please direct me to it?
  15. I have a close friend that is a pharmacist and an older gentleman here in Texas. His pharmacy services many of the patients from an adjacent hospital in a metro suburb. I asked him tonight what he would ask to be treated with if he were to be diagnosed with the Corona. He told me that he would want the Hydroxycloroquine and Azithromycin treatment, based on the prescriptions that he was filling for the doctors in his hospital. I asked about the Hydroxycloroquine and Zinc that I had read that might be the better treatment, and he told me that it was impossible to get Zinc anywhere right now. Your mileage may vary. FWIW
  16. A couple of weeks ago, Dr. Fauci was asked about those types of meds in a press conference. He said that it was an issue that needed to be looked at and that he was hoping to get info from the Italians. From the study results, I - like you - am not sure it can tell us much about causation.
  17. Zork posted this in the No Politics thread, but I thought it needed to be seen here, as the possible effects of ACE inhibitors and ARDs had been discussed earlier. Report post #2790Posted 1 hour ago "Interesting Italy demographics, etc: https://www.epicentro.iss.it/coronavirus/sars-cov-2-decessi-italia go to the link above for the graphs/charts, browser needs to translate." Prior to hospitalization, 28% of COVID-19 positive deceased patients followed ACE inhibitor therapy and 16% Sartani (angiotensin receptor blocker) therapy. As the bold text shows, of the 909 deaths in the study, 28% were on ACE inhibitors and 16% on ARBs before hospitalization.
