Thanks a lot, Copernicus.

HA! Now this quote here, THIS shows he is feeling it. He knows. Excuses.

Feel like that scene after the game would crush any of that love for this team in just about anyone. Don’t blame players for not singing, but I could see that whole situation making him say “fuck this”
Ugh... all right in front of OU after their shittiest team in two decades beat us. I hate this

Why would Sam return regardless?
I've never considered it.
Maybe his love for his hometown U is just that great? Maybe this isn't how he wants his Texas career to end? Maybe he's not doing as good as he thought he'd be doing and his draft stock isn't going to be where he'd like it.
Still don't see it, but there are reasons. Just depends on where he's at in his head. Longshot.

I just don't see many guys on this team as irreplaceable. The ones that are are on their way out the door, anyway.
I'd like to keep Bijan and Whitt. Casey. Alfred Collins. Jamison. Jared Wiley. I get disinterested pretty quickly after that. Ossai isn't staying. Sam will either declare or stay.
Not only do we not develop, I'm not sure we get the right guys on campus.
All fair points.

Bama. Saban quit the dolphins and had a job waiting for him in Ttown. Everyone knew Shula was a dead man walking.
I don't mean that. I mean officially. As in Urban is in the building, and Ash/Yurcich is HC on the field.

Now, my opinion on this changes a ton if it's pretty much anyone other than Meyer. If it's him, it's to your advantage to announce it and get him involved asap. If it's not, you play things much differently/more cautiously.
Agree with this part, at least.

Portal works both ways. Urban would make up for it and then some.
Depends on what caliber of player enters the portal from your end.
It seems crazy, but interim HC + Meyer named and recruiting seems like a good option. Has this been done before at any major program?

Let's start with realizing Moore isn't a true outside WR.

Hey guys, we're firing Tom Herman and replacing him with Urban Meyer.
No wait, please, don't everyone rush for the transfer portal at once. Isn't anyone going to stay?I understand I made a mistake trying to be serious here.

there's a word for children that get treated like that
I get that, but college football is full of 'em these days, and a lot of them are pretty good players. A lot of college football is keeping players happy. This isn't a new thing.

Good. Let them think about why they're here.
No. That's some old school shit that used to work. There's a transfer-portal now that gives these kids a far better option than they've ever had. Keep 'em as happy as you can. Let 'em rally around one of the coaches they already know. The boat's gunna rock, but make it rock as little as possible.
Or maybe I'm missing something. I'd be willing to say I'm wrong on this. No problem with that at all.

"Hey Urban, I know you haven't spent one second around these guys, but do you think you could take 53 4-star athletes and maybe beat Kansas and West Vrigina? I know thats asking a lot, since you've only won 3 national titles between two different schools in the last 15 years"
It has nothing to do with how good of a coach Urban Meyer is, or Meyer at all really, and everything to do with a group of 100 young players who don't know the guy you're putting in charge of them mid-season. It'd be a helluv-an emotional time for these kids.

Is there some reason Urban couldn't start next week?
Probably because he hasn't spent one second around this team.

Don’t get overly excited about Herman potentially being gone. Whoever is hired still has to deal with massive cheating by other programs like A&M, and the Big 12 vs SEC, that makes it more difficult to recruit.
Wet Dblanket, chill. -
Have been curious about if Elliott would be open to a jump to the NFL. Maybe not as HC, but OC. Houston will have a position, with a QB he coached when he was co-HC. Then, whoever drafts Lawrence will probably have their positions open.
Wonder what his big plans are for his career... -

So have we officially entered the aggy realm of competitive losses?
Can’t see how you’re missing his point, or is it better for this thread if we just stay mad and not speak logically about the rest of the season? Cos that might work, too. -
Going 11-1 and losing to OU every year is better than going 7-5 and losing to OU every year.
I don’t want to walk all over your quote here, because I completely understand what you’re saying... but this Longhorns team coached by Mack would have destroyed whatever the fuck OU team that was on Saturday. That team is awful.
Tom’s team literally let them bench their starting QB, then UN-bench him so he could then beat you.- 1

Why do that? Unless he has a lifetime winning percentage he's looking to protect, seems him actually coaching gets the process moving even quicker than sitting in the press box.
That’s just not how this works. He hasn’t spent one minute around this team.
-
You forget about the gun-toting hothead he never disciplined that eventually went on to kill 3 people?
Wow you’re right he should be in prisons!!!! -
Well that's exactly what you would be doing. He's left scorched earth wherever he has set foot.
Bring me what he did at Ohio Steak and the scorched earth he left behind right got damn now!
