Lol that's very aggy of you. He has the Biletnikoff winner Chase and Terrance Marshall coming back and we are losing our only two reliable targets in Duvernay and CJ. Probably the best 1-2 WR combo in the nation.
Damn. You're right. With CJ and Duvernay out, Ash's defense doesn't stand a chance.

That's all it takes - 9 months with Joe Brady and you too can successfully run the country's most explosive offense. Sure you've still got that 70yr old OC who hasn't done dick without Brady running things - but now he has Brady's playbook. Surely the production will be the same.
Right? I mean, who was Joe Burrow before Joe Burrow came along? And who was Myles Brennan before Myles Brennan came along?

TFB says TE coach will now be in place by the end of the week. No names thrown out
Who are we guessing? Anybody?

Myles Brennan had a year to learn the offense and still has all those WRs. He will likely light up Chris Ash's defense next fall.
A whole year? Well shit we're fucked!

Who gives a fucking shit, Co-DC tag is just something you put on there so he can get an extra bump in his salary.
Yah, no shit. And that's part of the story.

South Carolina fans (other than the top comment) seem glad he’s gone on Reddit. Are we choosing to believe this fanbase or is this one of the ones we don't believe? I'm so confused.

In dark mode I cannot understand how you did this.
I have no clue what the fuck happened. Could be from when I cut and pasted a paragraph before posting. Who the fuck knows.

Says the same group of people that would be ecstatic with Samples was hired.
Now this has some got damn legs. I see a few names here who are shitting on the Valai hire who were hoping Samples would be brought on last year, and if not, brought back this year. Seemed to be all because his father is a well respected coach in the Dallas area, and he'll bring the 'croots
Now, that doesn't make the Valai hire the right hire, or a good one. It just cracks me the every loving fuck up.
My personal opinion on the hire? I've read, and not from any longhorn sources today or yesterday, but from other sources, that he's thought of as a good recruiter, with what little experience he has. That's good if true, and I like that. Now as a coach? I don't give a shit how many videos you show me that show he knows how to run DBs through drills, is he going to be able to coach the guys we have here and get them better for Saturdays? He hasn't shown anything saying he can, obviously.
I know we like to pull this whole "well we're fucking Texas!" card on this thread and others when it comes to hiring coaches, pretending that every blue-blood program or top program in the country only hires the most experienced and pedigreed got damn coaches on the planet at every position down to lunch lady, but that's not accurate. Other top programs in the country have staffs who can identify young coaching talent, who know it when they see it, and they take a chance and the dude balls out mon-fri and has the guys ready for Saturdays. Now the problem with that here in our situation is that there's zero record of Herman ever doing so (minus that close call with our Lawt And Save-yuh Samples), and frankly I'm not sure about Ash as I haven't gone through his whole fucking tree, but I'm gunna guess no just because.
So, for the simple fact that it's not whelming, I could probably say the hire is underwhelming. But like most things I don't know enough about, I'm gunna let this shit sink or swim and call this a non-whelming hire.

In the interest of cheering everybody up, I'll take on Sydney's challenge:
Pros -
-Fud has already cited a solid nickname in Jai Alai
-He's young and black, so this immediately makes the whole staff hip and with it
-He knows the "grab that bag" concept for street agents and seems to really dig it
-Chris Ash really likes him, and Chris Ash knows staff personnel
-He can apparently fog a mirror
-We don't have a visible way, yet, to prove that his on-field charges at Texas will suck
-He's not Drew Mehringer
-He's currently unemployed, so he can start immediately
-He's a squarehead just like his mentor, so you know there's a lot of grey matter being toted around in that fucking rock
-He's never lost to Baylor or Iowa State
-If he's really the unqualified, wet fart of a hire that obvious shit seems to be indicating, he does nothing to offset the growing likelihood that the silver lining to Hermanitard not fixing any of his shit will be that he and his entire fucking roster of half-wits and jugheads will all be taken out to the curb and dropkicked onto the street after they underperform and fail miserably to the tune of a 6-6 regular season in 2020
I don't know, the more I think about it, the more I'm really to starting to like this hire.

The spectrum on here appears to range from "shut the program down" to "see the potential but Texas should be able to do better."
I think when some people #onhere see the latter, what their brain ends up receiving is "this is the best thing I've ever seen bring me Tom's dick!" (though I'll admit some seem to be forever in the "lean positive" group. But I get it. We all see things differently. Kumbaya)

Have only seen good things recruiting-wise regarding Valai. Coaching on the field? Yikes, we'll see.

I’m by no means not knocking Brian’s report, FWIW. I’m just under the impression that this thing is pretty far down the road and Jones has been Herman’s No. 1 guy.
By ALL means, knock the report.

The class is like 80% like this because Rhule goes to the beat of his own drum in evals (a lot of track times and wingspans),
We can argue the percentage, but I think we're both right.

Rhule is looking at his recruiting class and running like hell before he gets stuck with these players
Part of the reason the recruiting class is how it is, is because of the likelihood of Rhule was always going to go the NFL.
Now that it's final, good. (unless that hire a HR)

You can't allow someone to change the standard for how business is conducted. If money is paid, the hand is played. Word gets out that: "if you're good enough, you can fuck over any school you want" or "Georgia can be taken for a ride" and suddenly the school(s) has lost all control of the process.
Georgia is as fucked up and corrupt in the recruiting game right now as anyone except, apparently, ATM and probably soon to be Ole Miss (again), but they can't take a semi-public depantsing from a recruit and their faction, no matter how good the recruit may be. In this situation, putting Zack Evans' head on a spike and parading it around for all of the agents and handlers to see serves as a good cautionary tale with corrupt recruitments going forward.
I expect a Maurice Clarrett-level career arc for Evans. ATM will find a way to get him in. He'll be celebrated by the ignorant non-recruiting CFB media as a recruiting coup for ol'Jimbo and a sure-fire sign that "the sleeping giant has awoken!!!! root toot!! hullabaloo caneck caneck!!! yackety sax!!". They'll do what they can to feed him the rock in 2020 and if he stays healthy, he'll have a great season for an 11-2 team. Everyone will keep telling him how amazing he is until gloriously fucks something up in the offseason through his arrogance and penchant for doing whatever the fuck he wants, irrespective of consequences. He'll then eventually wind up fringing NFL rosters before winding up on a porch in Galena Park or prison. The whole way through all of that, there will be occasional sympathy stories from your Tom Rinaldi types that pop up every year or two.
Got damn the SEC is unreal, if this is the case. Makes sense.
