although I'd make the case that a prospect flirting with other teams a day after signing is something worth getting butthurt over

Not saying it's nothing to get butthurt over, but I'd like to think coaches, especially by gawd SEC coaches out there in a conference that plays the recruiting game like no other, aren't going to let that be the "YOU KNOW WHAT, FUCK IT! FUCK THIS GUY!"

Pretty sure the Georgia coaches got pissed off when they found out he was still contacting other teams after he sent in his LOI

So Smart and Co are gunna get butthurt and just let the guy go? With that much talent, they'll deal with the guy talking to other teams. What you don't deal with is yet another serious fuck-up. Or grades.

One of the reasons things broke down so often is because the recievers couldn't get any separation and get open, including CJ.  After giving them more than ample time he'd just habe to say fuck it and fling a prayer.

Eh, sometimes. Sam reminds me of NFL Deshaun Watson a bit. He doesn't see things sometimes, then will get too jumpy in the pocket, or leave it all together.

I'm curious to see if Yurcich's influence can cause us to be less reliant on specific positions/players and better at attacking each defense's weaknesses from week to week.

    Same, almost mentioned this.

Also forgot to mention that, outside of which receivers happen to be targeted more within Herman's scheme (as you mentioned), it's also not odd and kind of a no-brainer that two seniors who could have gone pro the year before lead a team in receptions by quite a large margin.

CJ had a slightly disappointing career in my eyes, but still a unique talent. I don't think he projects well at the next level, he doesn't separate from DB's at all. Duvernay was a John Harris level pleasant surprise this year. The guy is stellar and should make someone very happy as a slot receiver.

With Eagles, Smith, and Marcus Washington coming back, I feel like our receiving core will be pretty damn salty next year and possibly more productive across the board. I would love to see Eagles become the new James Washington.

It's not really about what CJ can do at the next level, or even his amount of athleticism and his production in college, but he was the guy Sam felt confident in when everything broke down, and he'd make a lot of the tough catches where his radius came into play. In almost half the games, he had 6 more receptions than the third leading receiver on the team (Eagles with 32).

Then you have Duvernay with 106 catches. Adding to that CJ's 38, that was darn close to half of the team's total receptions (just over 300 total, including Sam's 2).

I don't think the talent coming back and up is an issue, but looking over this year's production can lead some to question, because Sam and the offense leaned on CJ and Duvernay quite a bit. But I imagine the younger guys step up.

That begs the question. I don't live in Texas but do your aggy friends and coworkers have a similar complex, and say things like "sip troll" and "BDF" etc? Or this dumbfuckery confined to Texags?

Out of the few I know in real life, most are not as serious as what we see on Texags, but there are some.

  7. This is why I love the 9.95 business. I talked to Zach. He told me something. I can’t tell you. But more coming.

"I spoke with Zach, he told me Kirby Smart is the coach at Georgia, but that's really all I feel at liberty to say right now. Will let you know more as you hear it."

And that one game just so happens to be our most important game every year.

Then hopefully our play-calling and QB'ing can all improve, because it wasn't all on the o-line.

We gave up 9 sacks to OU

    Yah, I watched the game.

That's 1/3 of the season's total sacks in one game, but you gotta love "What about that one time!" Guy when you point out something isn't ass.

    Texas O line isn't deficient.

Plus the inexperience at WR has nothing to do with talent. Smith and Eagles have plenty, but the rest of the lot is talented enough to have an impact, experience or not.

Shouldn't need to read our OL and WR groups in the same sentence as LB, when speaking of talent.

  11. I don't understand how any college football fan would be against an 8 team playoff. I mean, you don't have to be for it, but why the hell do you care so much to be against it? If 4-8 are just gunna get their asses kicked anyway, hell, welcome to any sport's playoff system.  It'd be a hell of a lot better than the top four teams sitting around another week to make it three whole weeks without a game, which can't be good. Give 'em a warm-up.

And no one start with the "over-saturation" shit. Maybe that'd matter in the NBA, or NFL, but in college football, 4-8 are going to be on your TV in a bowl game regardless, so why not make it mean at least a little more?

and his reputation as a recruiter is drastically overrated

I remember a *little bit of hype about him #onhere around the time he was brought on, but ya, he probably is a bit overrated and it appears we can do a lot better there.

    *I said "a lot" pre-EDIT, but I'm probably misremembering.
