so from what little I understand about SEC recruiting, sending the bagmen for recruits in your own state is fine, but when you start outbidding the hometown team for out of state recruits you start ruffling feathers. would this behavior get aggy in trouble with the other sec teams? or does no one care because it's MSU?

You probably just have to be extra careful in enemy territory. And Enemy territory doesn't really have to mean "in some other school's state." But for sure the general area of that other university. You don't wanna go into the Baton Rouge area paying a garage to fix (insert 4* athlete)'s momma's car if you're Arky. There's no one around there who's not LSU. You'd have to get a bit more creative. But you're gunna know who's in your network, or very easy to find out.

I'm fairly certain you meant to say "He'll shoot up the rankings after he commits to the 'sips because BOMC. Daddy98 watched the tape and it's clear media bullshit."

That's precisely what he meant to say. You nailed this.

And lmao at Mookie.  How did he get involved?  I thought he was going to commit to Illinois and be irrelevant for the next 4 years.

Mookie was name dropped by some UT asshat on twitter. Not sure he was even @'d. He either searched his name or was alerted to the blast and replied. Zach's looking for allies, so hits him up.

  4. Hopefully Sam and Co rent a van on the way back from Brucation and drop by Bijan Robinson's house. Get back to ATX, get some boosters on it and get this kid bagged the fuck up. That's where I'm at after reading this Zach Evanshit show

I saw some Mookie stuff earlier on the ole twitter.com. I think Evans is still talking about UT players. Mookie had an interaction with a UT fan (probably after a name search/snitch, he wasn't @d).

He thinks 6 figs is $100K, but forgot that $999K is also 6 figs.

And that I also used "comfortably"-6-figures.

But tbh, from what I understand of bag-men, you can work one or two recruits for cheaper than you'd think. You're not working them all.

I'm in. How much does one "bag" cost? Think recruits will take dave n busters player cards? Cause I am light on cash at the moment

Accidentally put this on the Bru McCoy thread, but the discussion is mostly happening here:

I've tested out the concept of doing what it takes to land prized recruits in conversations with the regime, so to speak. They're delusional. They don't believe or understand that the basketball program has been doing what it needs to do on the recruiting front for two decades. They also believe there is some sort of moral high ground that has value to the alumni base because "we don't want to be in the headlines for the wrong reasons". They're living in fantasyland that anyone gives a shit - the NCAA, the Big 12, the media, the fans.

My view is that Herman is too competitive to just give up on the blue chips because we therefore get to perch up on moral high ground, and he's too narcissistic to think that he's missing on recruits because of any failure on his own part. When he hits that psychological intersection after losing to pieces of shit like Georgia on the recruiting front repeatedly, he'll walk down the hall to the basketball area and compare notes with Shaka Smart and build from there. That's the hope.

For those who hope differently, I guess I have to ask why you're stuck in a bygone era? The recruiting landscape today involves paying players to come to your school, and there isn't anyone walking around that seems to care about that outside of Michigan, Notre Dame, Texas, Wisconsin and the other academically-acclaimed schools not named Duke, Florida, USC and North Carolina.

That's it. This hyped me. One of you comfortably-6-figure sons a bitches get me a bag. Uncle Bag's gunna get this shit.

no new info. Just says Ringo is trending Georgia and Texas needs to address the Evans quote with other recruits

were presented with the same situation last year with Wilson. Should be familiar territory.

And that's precisely why beating ou and winning the big 12 is step 1. All the other shit is noise. That may seem like an oversimplification but it's the truth as I see it.

    Beat ou=win conference=possible playoff berth=program exposure=change in perception=draft picks=high profile recruits coming here

These things are all correlated and to me the answer lies nowhere other than beating ou and winning the conference. Everything else falls into place after that.

    Yah, word.

For what it's worth I think the "win and all our problems go away" is an oversimplication and a halcyon view on things.

But OU has won the Big 12 six times this decade, has made the playoffs thrice, and also has the other ancillary stuff in their favor as well (individual awards, draft picks, etc.). The idea that we're just as close as OU in the eyes of recruits isn't going to fly yet.

Yah, but when you're talking "national championships", I think that's different than winning a big 12 title then getting your ass kicked in the playoffs. That's what I'm getting at. Sure, if you're down to UT vs. OU, OU has all of that. But when you're talking "Natties", don't show me a list with Bamas and Ohio States, then LSU and OU and expect me to buy that.

I mean we are still getting top 5 recruiting classes. Eventually that has got to help us get somebody in the NFL.

Oh it should for sure But until it does, on paper UT isn't producing early in the draft. It's not a lie on the surface.

The fact that the Georgia shit is working when we literally just beat them shows that this SEC shit is ingrained in these kids heads. The only thing that’s gonna change that is playoff appearances and 1st round draft picks, even beating LSU won’t matter if it doesn’t come with those two things.

what bugs me about that idea is that IMO we're just as close as Oklahoma.

As I've said, the difference is the draft/NFL. They're (OU) not on the list because they're that much more of a title contender, they're on the list because they've had offensive players taken #1 overall the past two drafts, and three offensive players taken in the top 38 this year. Two OL in the top 100 picks this year. A tackle in the top 100 last year, + TE. That's what a kid like Evans wants to see.
