I think “I’m in hydraulics” might start being my answer in all kinds of situations, not even relating to this board. I feel like I’ve just received a gift.

"Really not sure about Card's measurables."

"Card will grow fine you pervert stop looking at kids' bodies"

    "Wrong person I'm in hydraulics"?

  3. Sorry, late to the party but gonna share a few thoughts anyway.
Sources. The sources that everyone has right now for this entire Demas story are :: Hamm, Brauninger, and EJ.
So, what you have is FWK (who wasn't even there) talking to Hamm and Brauninger (both delusional even by Aggy standards) and a current Horn player and/or 2020 recruit talking to EJ, who knows NOTHING. Ever.
There is no world in which Tom Herman gets up during a recruiting event, attended by folks like the Lindbergs/Parrs/Evans and talks about Aggy for anything outside of an off-handed quip or joke. None. There is a clear and defined message during all of these events and Herman and Chang deliver that message to their staff before the day and then it is the be all end all. Everyone is to be on message at all times. Right now, that message is clearly "Texas is built to win titles. We are built to physically dominate our opponents."  Corollary to this is stuff like see our record vs. the SEC in recent bowls, as well as our conference record vs. the SEC. etc
The key thing that shows me that this was a complete delusional construct was the discussion that Demas "almost left". That is Penthouse Forums bullshit and straight from the Aggy dream scenarios booklet. Let's imagine this playing out ...   Demas who is now living with Hunter Dunn. The same Dunn family who love UT and want their son to be offered by Texas, he got so butthurt by jabs about Aggy and the SEC - from Tom Herman in a room FULL of kids from multiple classes AND their parents - that he was going to up and by God leave before he said anything more about his beloved Army and College Dadgum Station? WHOOOOOOOOOOOOP! Give me a fucking break.

Told by an idiot, all full of sound and fury and signifying nothing. Demas isn't coming to Texas (Bama would be my guess) but this entire story from this weekend is nonsense and fabricated bullshit.

Exactly. Like I said, this story gets out there regardless of what Demas thought about the visit or what he had to say about it. That's the risk you take fucking with kids in the circle of Aggy Power Couple FWB and Hamm. Hammwork.
  4. Not sure if you can call this a full setup, but Jimbo and FWB definitely knew the Demas visit was an excellent spin opportunity before it ever happened. You can't expect a coach in Herman's situation, and the players like Sam not to mention their victories over the SEC, and take a jab or two at A and Them. That's business, not even negative recruiting. So no matter what Demas came back and said to FWB if he even were to say anything at all, this story would have happened.

All of that out of the way, not a whole lot Herman and co can do about FWB right now. Gotta play out the Shep recruitment, and hell, maybe even Demas. But for sure Shep. After that, just put it out you're not dealing with FWB recruits. There aren't that many of them in the Demas, hell SHEP class of athlete anyway. That'll put a dent into what FWB benefits from it, with Aggy not having to compete with UT for FWB's kids.

FWB becomes less important to aggy without UT kids in play, then you flip FWB. And he can be FWK again.

    Or not. Whatever.

  5. This right here is a throw that the vast majority of NFL QBs cannot do. Off one leg, on the run, 50+ yards. It is effortless. There’s others, but he has an elite arm. I hate Ou too, but he has the goods from a throwing standpoint.

I agree that Murray has a good arm, but you can't compare a deep throw made after a five yard sprint in the direction you're throwing off one leg springing the ball forward (not one leg backing up) to being in the pocket and darting a 15 yard pass out to the sideline before the corner recovers or safety jumps the route. There is a difference in those types of arm strengths. That was basically the equivalent of a javelin throw, torque, momentum and thrust in basically the target direction.

  6. Obviously no one on this coaching staff can go any type of negative on Shep or FWK. Bad business, bad look, all of that. But I'd be lying if I wasn't hoping for D'Gabriel Floyd to light that shit up right now. I imagine he's not liking this recruitment/commitment.

42 second mark. He outruns the coverage but the pass is underthrown so the db gets a decent hit on him while he's in the air. He shows great balance keeping his feet as he lands. But the best part is that he could have outrun everybody to the goal line but instead decides to slow down in order to get a shot in on the defender and stiff-arm bodyslams him into the ground.

Yah, the play at the 42 second mark is probably my favorite play from him this year. Vs. Wimberley, who knocked them out of the playoffs the year before. That game was about payback, and Jordan normally wouldn't do something like that, but he and the whole team wanted that revenge bad.

I’m just playing devil’s advocate here but say we bring him in for the one year rental and he plays a lot of snaps and rotates with wilbon for about 85% of the defensive snaps and coburn gets butthurt and decides to transfer?  doomed.

right on damn cue, from TFB:

"***Also asked about Rice grad transfer DT, Zach Abercrumbia. I get the sense Texas likes him but with the transfer portal changing the game a bit, they have to obviously be conscious of their current younger players like Coburn and Ojomo."

At this point is it possible to know who the protected one is and block them? Especially if it gets annoying like you said.

If you block them they can still be replied to by the person you're originally talking with, or additional people you follow/talk to/don't mind talking to. Those tweets will still show up.

You just gotta mute the conversation at that point, or ask to be removed from the conversation and hope they do.

What does going private mean? I don't do twitter

He can follow whoever he wants, read their tweets if they're not private (protected), but you can't read his unless he approves you after you follow him.

It's understandable why some do it, but also annoying AF when people "protected" who follow you but you don't follow them get into one of your conversations with multiple people and start responding to others and you have no clue WTF is going on because you can't see what they're responding to.

I'll also add, if I'm not mistaken, that if you followed him before, you can probably still read his tweets though he hasn't approved you. I know it's been that way with some of my follow, who'll all of the sudden go protected but I can still read them, and I don't believe they'd approved me personally.

I guess I'll be fine if he sticks and we take the Shepherd lottery ticket, but if we kill it in 2020 recruiting and miss out on a great prospect due to having one less guy we can sign in that class and Shepherd flames out, it would definitely suck, and that scenario is about 10 times more likely than Shepherd panning out.

Yah, of course that'd suck. But not sure the staff really thinks that way, or many staffs. If they want the guy, they want the guy. They knew of character concerns before they offered, I'm sure.

I'm not too concerned with the flakiness we've seen since he verbal'd, no matter how fucking annoying it is. I don't think the guy has a good structure around him, then of course you have FWK, whatever you think about him. When he's on campus, head down going to work, no more worrying about everybody wanting him etc..., that's where it really begins.

EDIT: I know this is a little strange for Surly, but I do understand people who just want him to sign elsewhere because they think he's too much of a character concern, and too much of a risk or whatever. That's just not my opinion.

Put me in the ‘ I want Shepherd in this class’ camp

    Same.

I mean, I won't be too asshurt about it if he goes elsewhere, but I'd rather have him than not. See what he can become and if he flops, ok. Whatever. Won't be the first time.

The back-peddling if he signs on with the good guys is going to be *asstronomical

    *Yes, ass.

So Card and Parr will be our main recruiters....not bad at all.

Parr needs to come on here and learn the proper Stanford smack dialog to talk to these other OLs.

Hey Parr, start with this one: "See that Little fucker? Yah, he went to Stanford and sucks now ttyl #cloUT2020"
