  1. You’re right. But lucky for us Card doesn’t need to run like Sam (or LJH). He can run around avoiding contact and picking up big yards like that little Ewok bastard up north.

Herman doesn’t need his QB to be a tank like Sam (or Cardale), he’s shown he can win with quick twitch guys too.

This 16/17 year old kid hasn't gotten touched by Yancy yet and we're already conceding he'll never weigh more than 185 pounds.

    'Crootin board special.

Again due diligence. Mater Dei players are fleeing California in mass and Texas picks the one, the only, player that wants to stay home.

Hey Bru, it's Drew Mehringer. What's your dream school and where do you see yourself living after football?

    Bru: Southern California.

Mehringer rushes to tell to Herman he has a live one on the line.

How dare the staff work hard at recruiting kids who haven't already said they'd commit to Texas

  3. It's been a while and probably not this awesome but I think I remember ced benson going crazy in the playoffs. Anyone with a better memory?

Believe his soph year ('98) was his coming out party. He went nuts at state vs SA Macarthur, who found out that tuesday or wednesday that they would play at state because Katy, who beat them, reported a UIL violation.

I remember the MacArthur coach saying when they found out they were in the title game their uniforms were en route to the cleaners/storage.

  4. Ian Boyd and others mentioned that the problem with a dominant RB in a RPO based offense is the defense can take the RB out of consideration by committing numbers to the box and forcing QB to the pass option. Happened to Evans yesterday.

The biggest thing I noticed last night was that Duncanville's front whooped North Shore's OL. It really wasn't a numbers game as much as there just wasn't anywhere for Evans to go.

Any team with a great running game buttering their bread is going to draw more numbers in the box. That is not RPO exclusive. Bottom line is you have to move people up front and get some second level blocking going or your RB's only chance is going to be bouncing outside.

    Huge credit to Duncanville's front.

  5. If I were Herman, I would make it clear that the backup QB role is up for grabs. I think Thonpson or Rising would win out and relegate Shane to third, which paves the way for him to become a GA and get into coaching. He simply cant be allowed to let us lose Rising and Thompson by sitting around taking up a spot from a high ceiling guy with average QB play.

This is true. Now, I understood it this year, but going into next season it needs to be open....

....but then do you do the same thing with Roschon as with Cam and Thompson this year? Roschon seems to really love UT, so can't say I expect him to want to bail if Cam rises nopun, but I dunno. Thinking out loud.

  6. Wow.  The way Herman answered the QB question three days ago demonstrates either a surprising ignorance of player discontent or a pretty sorry attempt at message control.

Or a coach's presser where they're gunna say whatever the fuck they want.

  7. He would have been a redshirt freshman next year. By the time he would have been an upperclassman the QB spot would have been his for the taking, especially with the rumours of Casey Thompson looking to leave.

Roschon says "not so fast". Maybe.

  8. Have you done a professional mental evaluation of the kid? Sure, something smells in his recruitment, but I don’t know if it’s him, his trainer, grades, culture fit or whatever. I hope the best for the guy, whichever he chooses. He’s got a lot of potential.

Appears we have a couple of people on here who have done a mental evaluation on him. Impressive.

  9. Does anyone here actually think Shepherd was going to be a good mental evaluation and contribute even if he signed at Texas? His entire value is nothing more than recruiting perception.

Contribute? Yah, sure as shit had some hope he'd contribute if he signed, that's why a lot of us have talked about him on this here recruiting message board. I'd take a chance on that.

  10. It could also be that McIvor was reluctant to paint himself as a dickhead flipping to a school where the head coach may be gone before he ever sees the field 2 weeks before signing day and hosing the school that built their class around him.

I think this is part of the whole point.
