    No you didn’t.

Of course there’s more going on when someone doesn’t pick them.

There's more to the story, but we can't go into that right now. Let's just say his cousin Stuckie may not be able to drive him to the next apartment complex parking lot Grill and Burn either.

That is fucking awesome. This woman is seriously going to end up being an ambassador for us for 4 fucking years. I wouldn't be surprised if we end up hiring her at some point.

Word. Someone like this, you wanna keep happy, and keep around your program post-kid playing if you can.

Joe Cook: Herman expands on Jamison’s position change, player’s position preference in recruiting

Every college coach in any sport, Texas head coach Tom Herman included, knows that recruiting is the lifeblood of the program. In order to recruit well, coaches need to often tell players what they want to hear.

Earlier in his recruitment in a since-deleted tweet, Texas freshman D’Shawn Jamison stated he wanted to be used in college like former Michigan Wolverine and current Cleveland Brown Jabrill Peppers. In the early stages of his Texas career, Jamison might get that wish.

In the official 2018 media guide and on the roster on the official athletics website, the class of 2018 member from Houston Lamar is listed as a wide receiver, confirming Inside Texas’ previous reporting. His Twitter profile reads that he is both a wide receiver and a defensive back at Texas, a role similar to that of Peppers.

In his final two seasons in Ann Arbor, Peppers amassed 111 total tackles, 18.5 of them for loss, three sacks and an interception. In addition, he rushed for five touchdowns and averaged 13.1 yards per punt return and 26.8 yards per kick return.

Though Jamison might not work between the tackles, Herman assured him the opportunity to both try and score and prevent scoring.

“He’s going to play both this year,” Herman said Tuesday at Big 12 Media Days. “He’s been working at both throughout the offseason. He’s been doing drills with both the slot receivers and the DBs. We certainly plan to use him on offense, but I think it’s more of a stop-gap.”

Jamison’s high school highlights are full of kick and punt returns for touchdowns, so putting the ball in his hands makes sense. It also makes sense for the Longhorns, as there is a need at the slot receiver position following the departure of Reggie Hemphill-Mapps. Though junior Lil’Jordan Humphrey is set to have a big year, those behind him on the depth chart are unproven.

“We approached D’Shawn and said ‘hey, we’ve got a need for some dynamism at that slot receiver position, and you certainly have it. The DB room is pretty packed this year, not to say that you can’t crack into it, but we’d like for you to at least get some work at slot receiver and see how it goes,’” Herman said. “By all accounts, he’s having a pretty good offseason.”

Being able to bring this account to star prospects on the recruiting trail is a nice feather for Herman to have in his cap. Currently, two of Texas’ top 2019 targets, Bru McCoy of Mater Dei (Calif.) and Makiya Tongue of University Lab (La.), have aspirations of playing a different position than what the Longhorn coaches would prefer them to play at.

According to Herman, he leaves that choice up to the players.

“You come into our program, and you can play whatever you want to play,” Herman said. “You look at the depth chart and say ‘I want to play this,’ and usually it always works itself out.”

Herman noted just because a player is in his preferred position does not mean he is guaranteed playing time. In his example, he said that a player who comes in as a linebacker but who his staff prefers at defensive end will get every opportunity to play linebacker.

“Usually by the second or third week, knock, knock, knock on coach’s door,” Herman said. “‘Hey coach, I’m the fourth string linebacker, I think I could be the second string defensive end. Do you think I could move to defense?’”

Those decisions normally work themselves out, but Herman knows it has to take place organically. As soon as it’s forced, it becomes an issue.

“It’s always the young man’s decision,” Herman said. “If it’s not, you’re not getting a full buy-in.”

Judging by Jamison’s Twitter bio and Inside Texas’ previous reporting, the buy-in, in this case, is there.

E.J. Holland: Texas hits home run with elite DB Lewis Cine on official visit

While the focus of the weekend was on the Heat Wave pool party, Texas did play host to two official visitors. One of them was four-star Trinity Christian Cedar Hill defensive back Lewis Cine, who was blown away with his time on the Forty Acres. “The visit was great,” Cine said. “The city of Austin is out of this world. The UT football staff rolled out the red carpet for me and treated me great. My favorite part was the pool party and chilling with the players. They look out for one another and stick together.”

In typical Texas fashion, the Longhorns made the visit extremely personal and wowed him with a special parting gift that meant a lot to him. “Before I left, I got a great surprise, which was Haitian food,” Cine exclaimed. “Texas was the first school to do that.” As Cine mentioned, he got to hang out with the Texas players and fellow recruits at the pool party. He also had an in-depth tour of the campus and the facilities and met with the Texas coaching staff.

UT safeties coach Craig Naivar has done a tremendous job recruiting Cine over the course of the offseason. Naivar and head coach Tom Herman both made big impressions on him during his visit. “What I like about them is they are players coaches, and they care about their players,” Cine said. “They talked to me about knowing the real and the fake and how straight forward of people they are. They told me what I needed to hear not what I wanted to hear.”

Cine, who moved from Massachusetts to Texas this offseason, was long considered a Penn State lean. However, he recently stated that his recruitment is now wide open. So where do the Longhorns stand after the visit? “They stand very high on my list,” Cine said. “What has me really interested is the alumni base and how large it is.”

Cine originally intended to make a decision in August, but his plans have changed. Now, Cine is going to ‘enjoy the process to the fullest’ and hit more campuses in the fall. At 6-foot-2, 180 pounds, Cine is ranked as the No. 3 safety and No. 48 overall prospect in the country, per 247Sports Composite.

He ended with a paragraph telling us the name of our head coach, last season's record, who we played in a bowl, our coach's contract, last season's record again, and then more history of our coach.

    This article was literally:

    1. A play by play of how a currently meaningless score went up when a player committed to us and who that caused us to jump in a currently meaningless ranking

    2. A full listing of the HS, state, position, rank, and name for each player and how many commits we have after this one

    3. A complete listing of the Big 12 by scores in a currently meaningless ranking

    4. A paragraph detailing the currently meaningless score of the teams ahead and behind us and the most obvious statement ever about how adding good players makes us go up in the currently meaningless ranking and have a few really good players is better than having a couple good players then bread for this currently meaningless ranking. He then tells us the average rating of our class and the star breakdown...which he already gave us in paragraph 2. He then gives us a ranking that is slightly more meaningful at this time.

    5. More useless info about the current state of recruiting in the Big 12 (IN JUNE) as though we give a shit (hell I don't even give a shit about the rest of the Big 12 besides OU on NSD) and then telling us we signed a great class last year as though we don't already know that

    6. A paragraph telling us the name of our head coach, last season's record, who we played in a bowl, our coach's contract, last season's record again, and then more history of our coach.

I can't believe people willingly pay for this.

"Tom Herman, also known as Coach Herman, whose first name happens to be Tom, is coaching this Longhorns team."

We are surging in his recruitment but we need to hit it out of the ballpark on his OV.

Texas seems to be pulling away, but I wouldn't count Penn State out just yet. It's going to be a fight til the end, with Penn State now closing the gap since I started this reply.
