Except "tampering" is defined by the NCAA as contact between coach/institution/booster(?) and player signed or enrolled elsewhere. All you need is a single degree of separation in the form of NIL sponsor, HS coach, uncle, etc. and you are 100% not in violation. It's a stupid distinction without a difference, but as mentioned upthread, the rules suck right now.

But if it's through an uncle or whoever, isn't it still contact?

I can't honestly believe you are worked up about this.

I could give a rats ass what is said in any interview, press release, article, podcast, YouTube video. If you truly want things to change, you should care a lot more about what is shown on the field than what is said in some fucking player's tribune article.

Fuck yes better than the same “this won’t get better overnight”. I’d love to see a team driven to beat bama and meeting up at 7am to get better. Worked for Arkansas who kicked our fucking ass up and down the field becaise they hate us while we continue to not give a fuck about playing certain teams.

There are like three schools in the nation where a kid won't say something like that: Bama; Georgia; Aggy. Bama and Ga because they're already there. Aggy because they think they're there.

    This is stupid.

    Like a mafia hit.

John Calipari identifies a kid in NYC who he likes.  Reaches out to Rick Pitino

Pitino reaches out to Mike Piazza

Piazza figures out that Joe Girardi is this kid's second uncle.

Girardi makes the call and completes the transaction for an ancillary fee.  Then he calls the Mr. Gatti's in Overland Park to make sure Mark Mangino isn't there.

Players are not going to have evidence of tampering.  It’s all facilitated by scum bag agents working with boosters who are signaled from the coaches via an intermediary or intermediaries of intermediaries.

Some might not, but like in the NFL, there are players who want to be heavily involved in their pre-"free agency." Those are the guys who are going to know what went on, and the evidence is simply the details.

Lack of confidence in Sark among the BMDs has been discussed, but to me our NIL activity points to PK much more than Sark. We can put together a giant deal for Arch, who’s still in high school, but we can’t come up with $600k for Mathis or $200k for Barron? To me that’s the money guys saying why throw gold money after bad with a defensive coordinator that’s not going to get results anyway.

We don't know much about the Barron details yet, but with Mathis I don't think that's what they're saying. Adding quality players to your defense will help the team, regardless of what you think about the DC. With Mathis, you're talking about getting into an unexpected last minute bidding war into the $1M+ range for a one year rental who had 4 sacks last season.

I spent most of last night and this morning chasing a rumor that Texas defensive back Jahdae Barron could be headed to the NCAA Transfer Portal in search of a more lucartive NIL deal. We heard last night that it sounded like Barron would stay at Texas, but a source I spoke with today told me it's not dead. We've got an eye on the portal to see if anyone pops up, but names could show up until tomorrow afternoon as long as they were entered before the deadline.

All of this info they get, but they gotta wait until tomorrow afternoon to find out like the rest of us? That's no fun!

Yes...I do realize that. When you are doing full 11 v 11 team stuff that require all 10 coaches, 1st and 2nd team units and the scout team to be involved, you are pretty limited in who and what you can send off to the side to do whatever else.

If creating more lines for individual drills is what is holding us back, then my optimism for the season just increased significantly.

Not to mention that 11 on 11 doesn't mean just 22 kids. Situational substitutions, getting looks at other guys period. There are going to be far more than 22 kids getting in on 11 on 11s. Also, it's important to pay attention to how other kids are coached just as much as the way you are. This is a dumb thing to argue about IMO.

Maybe that plays a factor, but I have a tough time believing the number of practice reps is the reason Ovie Oghoufo couldn't set the edge or why Vernon Broughton stood directly vertical after every snap or why BJ Foster was scared of contact.

You can have only have 22 players on a field when you are doing team drills so not sure what else you are wanting unless you think the tempo is crap and guys are playing grab ass between snaps.

We just had 0 players drafted. It hasn't been going much better before. I can guarantee you it isn't because the whole team isn't actively practicing during 11 on 11s. It's probably also not why kids are wanted to transfer at the last possible minute.
