Gerry just put out an article on flip candidates.  Hudson was the first mentioned - but also mentioned were Will Campbell, Terrance Brooks, Bryce Anderson, Kelvin Banks, and Cameron Williams.

In other words, kids today are no different than those of yesterday/yesteryear; “Show me the $$…like NOW.”
Why would one want to wait until enrolling to get a deal via NIL when they can get paper just to show up at a camp or a game on a “unofficial”?

I’m my mind just not a chicken/egg scenario; the cash must come first. That’s the price of entry.

And TBH, programs are really gunna have to work hard to limit what goes on inside of the program with kids already making $ off of NIL. There are always alums and fans who are gunna wanna fling some cash around for this and that, and who doesn't want more money?

Everybody was pretty excited about everyone of those commits. They weren’t considered misses then. We’ve had a huge development problem for years that has stretched across staffs. I’m hoping we’ve come to the end of this trend. But at this point I find it hard to care about recruit rankings and where this class falls especially since we’ve been beat by enough teams we out recruit over the years.

Wish I could like this post more than once. If the new staff can identify the right guys and coach the shit out of them, that's heads and shoulders above what has been going on at Texas for over a decade. Then the next level can open.

This 100% percent. Burnt Ends is so awesome because it's going to get results AND it serves as a model for other UT alums before we even enter the SEC.

    Heroes. Love you guys.

I want to win so fucking bad.

I'll eventually open another paypal account and fork over the whatever a month for Burnt Ends, maybe try and come up with some bullshit story to prolong the shit my wife's gunna give me when she finds out I'm giving money to college kids.  But we definitely need some badass apparel rolling on here. a $30 cap here, $30 shirt here etc...

    Fong, on Guilbeau.

One of the state's best is closing in on a college decision. And I like where TCU stands at this point in the process.

Port Arthur (Texas) Memorial Top247 cornerback Jaylon Guilbeau has a final three of Texas, TCU and Texas A&M. A former Longhorns verbal, he reopened the process on July 21. The Horned Frogs have been in great shape since then.

On Wednesday afternoon I logged a 247Sports Crystal Ball in favor of Gary Patterson and company.

"TCU is just a school that shows love to me and I know they will develop me and put me in the NFL!" Guilbeau recently told 247Sports. "They're that type of school."

Guilbeau is tabbed by the Top247 as the nation's No. 13 cornerback and No. 88 prospect overall. He has been selected to play in the All-American Bowl following his senior season.

247Sports National Analyst Gabe Brooks is high on the 5-foot-11 1/2, 180-pound Guilbeau.

"Possesses good size and great length for a corner. Adequate height with a plus wingspan (6-2). Two-sport athlete who runs track (400 meters). Consistently stays low in backpedal. Willing to mix it up at the line of scrimmage. Disruptive at the catch point, thanks in part to length. Shows encouraging competitiveness when the ball is in the air. Shows an occasional hitch when redirecting. Willing tackler but needs more bulk to maximize arriving power. Testing and track context suggests there's more meat on the bone regarding top-end speed. Good-sized, instinctive corner with good tools. Projects to high-major level with long-term NFL Draft potential given proper development and increased explosiveness."

TCU has nine commits thus far in 2022 including two other in-state four-stars in receiver DJ Allen and receiver Matthew Golden.

Not a hella hella confident pick and write-up, buuuutt...  We'll see. I can see it being TCU no doubt.

I have a bigger offset, but it leaks like a sieve and is more work than is justified for a single rack of ribs.  Holding temps requires hourly attention so smoking something becomes a chore.  I want something I can set for at least 4+ hours while I get other shit done on a Saturday.

Once you work your WSM you can do that 4 hours and more, even without air temp controllers. Same with that unit Both Tacos is talking about. Once you learn how to set it, you can walk away.

On longer cooks like brisket on my WSM, I can get my temp dialed in then disappear for a few hours. Go fishing, whatever.

But of course I'm going opposite of you and looking to get back into sticks. I mostly hang around the house and backyard all day when I'm smoking anyway.

Which is fine. QBs make mistakes, even really good ones

That's important to remember here. It's one play out of many, in the dude's first start. It'll be okay, no one's saying he had his chance and to throw Card back out there now.

I called for the switch to Casey, and this one play -though I think it's on him- doesn't make me regret that any.

Yea, that’s where I’m at.  It’s really hard to justify the cost of one when the WSM seems to do the same thing for so much less.

I'd get the 22", just 'cos you might regret not having the space when you have a couple of more people over, or if you wanna cook a bit more comfortably. Then later on you can get another 22", or an 18" to accompany it for larger cooks if you want.

But if Both Tacos is selling his Backyard for a good price and it's in decent condition, you'd maybe jump on that. You'll be using nearly the same amount of fuel in that as in a 22" WSM, but it'll cook a whole lot more, and more comfortably.

  9. Does anyone make a small insulated cabinet smoker or is a WSM the better way to go?  I want something that takes up less room on the patio than my offset and can cook for 3-4 people (a single brisket, or a rack of ribs or two, etc) that I don’t have to fight with to keep at temp.

Just get a WSM. Unless you wanna spend 4x+ what a WSM costs, then you can look at Humphrey reverse flow cabinet smokers. They’re good.

and Angilau not quite seeing the inside rusher soon enough. the outside rusher seemed like he was somewhat playing contain on Casey and wasn't crashing hard.

Yah, agree. But I still think that goes along with it just being the right call. Angilau is looking inside and everyone is stuck in traffic, so once the end steps in he makes his decision, then sees the guy coming inside and hesitates before continuing to the end. Things probably go differently there if he chooses the inside guy, no doubt, just not sure if that was his responsibility, as he's probably blocking a zone, and does block the first person into that zone.

not to start this again. I thought the error was with Okafor and Majors. Rice looks to be running a twist being run between the interior DL. Okafor picks up the slant. DL engages Majors and loops. At this point if Okafor passes the DL slanting to Majors, he is free to pick up the looping DL. Jones is slow to pick up the blitz, but I think that was the correct call. That is the only way can see to get a hat on a hat

Okafor and Majors seem to play it correctly, simple down blocks that match up with Angilau's pull. Basically Angilau is pulling into the first hole past guard (Okafor) unless a defender comes off the edge outside of jones, in which Angilau goes to attempt to seal that (most likely?). Jones can come off and get the inside, Bijan can chip the end Jones comes off of. As it goes, Jones ends up crashing the blitzer inside and into Okafor. Had Okafor not been knocked off balance, and Jones blocking the blitzer inside, it's possible Okafor could have come off his guy to at least get a forearm on the looper to slow him down. Then obviously we see Brewer get worked.

BUT, Casey is STILL able to step up, he just takes a half a second too long once he does. In live action he had four seconds before he got popped. I mean even if he's not seeing the play develop off that seam, the left side was clear and bijan would have been open for a check-down. Just the right defensive play called, with just a tick of hesitation on the QB.

There isn’t even pressure if Christian Jones doesn’t get completely manhandled

I've gone over this play a bajillion times, and though I think I can see a mix-up on the line,  I'd still say Casey had plenty of time, and the ball should have been out and not double-pumped.

But going back to the OL part, it's hard to know sometimes. One thing I'm absolutely sure of is that Christian Jones was not manhandled. As the play develops, it becomes clear Jones intentionally comes off his man to picks up a blitzer (who looks to be blitzing run, but picks him up nonetheless). The guy blitzing comes up the gap Angilau is supposed to plug on his pull around that's helping to sell the PA. Once Jones shifts to that, Angilau continues down the line, appearing to focus on the guy Jones turned loose. Then the guy who hits Casey loops around from the right and Angilau is left with a choice. He should have probably grabbed the inside guy (who ends up hitting Casey), since his responsibility was inside to begin with. ORRRR, Jones should have never came off of his man, and let Angilau pick up the blitz, as he IS coming around. But it still doesn't solve the fella looping around from the right, and the fact is that guy is coming far too late. Ball could have been out, but also that defensive play was perfectly timed.

It happened, coach it and get it right.

He hasn’t been high on aggy for a long time, if ever. Assuming bama does what bama does that’s the safe pick. There’s only one way he ends up at Texas. If I had to wager I’d bet we are too late. Best news for us is if he delays his commitment.

I may have overstated it a bit. I do believe a lot of us have known of a Harris/A&M flirtation, and have had our su$picions about what wa$ really going on over there, enough so to be nervous about it.

    Again, though, point taken.

Not a huge fan of this stance he keeps staying on, same answer for Arkansas. I get what he’s saying but I don’t think it’s a bad thing to use a little bulletin board material as a way to get the team hyped up a bit.  let’s not treat OU like it’s any other week.

I can guarantee you that his public stance of not commenting on how much the opponent might hate them isn't why Arkansas got every inch off in their asses. They need to fix the actual reasons why before their new HC is on TV talking about how "they hate us hell yah we'll slap in on the board!"

Works for some coaches and situations, doesn't for others.

It will be very interesting to see how long Sark will stick with Thompson should our offense struggle against them, as it may well might considering the limitations of the line.

I think part of the reason you stick with Thompson is because of the line's inconsistency.
