The timing expectation provided around this premise is absurd. Sarkisian didn't know he had the job until roughly NYD. Then outreach might begin in earnest, while balancing CFbP needs for 12 days. How much time, given all of that and whenever he spoke to Hughes, is Hughes supposed to have had to have his "3 or 4 guys" fucking sewn up, packed, moved, and in-territory recruiting and gladhanding? It's 1/25.

I'd maybe expect a quicker turn around if we had just hired a sitting HC, who had a staff loyal to him, and who could at the very least swap out personnell quickly and seamlessly.... if not the whole department. But we're talking about an assistant who coached through the last minute possible, who doesn't have his own recruiting staff, and hasn't been an HC in a significant amount of years. I think we might be expecting too much for wanting it to be so seamless, though I can understand the benefits of it.

To add, it seems there's a bit of a hiccup in information on exactly how many were let go and who, and if it was before being replaced etc... There may have been enough in place for the more "behind the scenes" communications to have continued some.

There's just a lot of stuff going on that we don't see, and it doesn't include things like twitter likes and DMs. These guys did all the grunt work staying connected with coaches and trainers, and there's all kinds of events going on in Texas where Texas doesn't have any presence at all that they could, although to be fair I'm not sure what of that hasn't been put on hold due to Covid.

    All fair and true.

Also, I laugh in fucking general at the notion that there's just One Time to retool a recruiting staff. Or a coaching staff. They're something that should always be improving upon. Keep everyone, add staff, and let the guy you hire to head it figure out whos talented and who he wants to cut . There's no fucking rule that says he has to have a complete staff in place for support on February 1st or he doesn't get to have a complete staff at all.

You're right there, and I've considered that since making that suggestion. I get that. Doesn't need to be immediate.

Then i'd argue you're not looking and listening hard enough. Did the myriad of posts talking about how difficult the 2022 recruiting landscape is going be just not register with you?

Obviously I understand this, but I'm not sure the way in which Sark is going about reshaping the recruiting department helps or hurts it that much, because like you said:

recruiting was dead in the water because Herman was dead in the water and everyone knew it

Some players, good ones, didn't hear shit form Texas for three weeks. Maybe hiring your new head of recruiting to retool everything as one of the last hires on your staff was a bad idea, particularly when players aren't hearing shit

And this I have already disagreed with. There were enough pieces left to continue reaching out to recruits, and we know that they have been. They've been being re-offering kids etc... for well over a week now. Honestly, am I missing something on that (I'm being dead serious, because I see there's been activity)?

But I do agree, a seamless transition is always preferred. Won't argue with that.

But I'm also not going to sit here and behave akin to some "Trust the Coach, if he says Mike Stoops is the guy then what the fuck do you know?" bullshit, intellectually lazy, football board fucking stupidity either.

This isn't about trusting the coach for me, this is about trusting my eyes, and my eyes show me that recruiting is ass right now. There is not better time to overhaul it, and I don't expect it to be done on a snap.

And we're pretending as if he took the entire recruiting staff and department and threw it out as soon as his plane landed, and here a few weeks later is just now getting back around to it. There were/are still pieces left in place, enough to bridge the gap as things are being finalized. And from the looks and sounds of it, it hasn't yet appeared to have created any recruitment issues.

But I've been wrong before, so...

I mean, these hires shouldn't just be slapped together. This a long term deal, I would rather well thought out hires without the Herman stink on them than to churn through these guys year over year. I also fail to see how a back office support staff is going to make a single difference with these prospects that we are currently targeting. These guys are there to help find and evaluate the talent, they aren't talking to guys like LJ Johnson nor making a difference between us and aggy. You can pretty much just read this board and know who needs to be contacted currently. 2022 signing day is pretty fucking far away, I think we can give Sark a couple days for this

If you can improve the positions/department, you don't wait a whole fucking year. Recruiting is 365.

One of Sark’s first orders of business was to bring in one of the original Alabama Saban personnel guys in Drew Hughes. Sark plans to build out a personnel and recruiting department similar to the one Nick Saban has at Alabama.

When coach Herman got to Texas he beefed up the recruiting but from what we are told Sark is going to expand it even more.

You may see a “front office” twice the size of the previous one. In fact, I’m told that Texas plans to hire not one, but two directors of high school relations.

So, for those of you who have asked if there will be some high school coaches hired, I think that is certainly a possible. Texas is going to pay the personnel guys enough that they will be able to attract quite a bit of talent. From what I’ve heard, the salary increases for guys in the office sound pretty significant.

--SuperK literally said he doesn't know if his source is legit---its like Nahlin saying he knows the DC but can't share it yet but it's awesome.....If his source is Stoops as has been reported, then he is reporting it without actually believing it...otherwise why the need for the "Not sure if true" statement.

--The only actual report was some hack in bama who is regarded to some extent as being linked to Stoops and has supposedly inaccurately floated his name in the past for jobs.

--Every other report parroted this jackwagon and was heavily cached in terms of "we are hearing", "we expect", "reportedly", etc.  Not one single twit in the sports media business except this tool none of us had heard from before last night could find any confirmation?  The squid, rapgamelarry, bevoboulevard, and ceddyb would like a word with him.

--The only actual reporting on this from the Texas side was a mild tweet from B. Davis and FCB that Sark had told them Stoops wasn't going to be the coach....

--Let me remind you that Bohls and Golden basically declared Jihad on CDC 2 weeks ago.  If you actually believe those 2 wouldn't have gotten wind of this, or gotten the info on what happened and used it to smear CDC......you are kidding yourselves.

If I am to remain consistent, then I for sure follow this. After it had gone on a couple of hours last night I had mentioned that I wanted further confirmation. Same as I have been with other reports (specifically from AAS).

But there was a lot of smoke prior around Sark and Stoops. Also some around CDC and Stoops prior to last night and this morning, so I wouldn't doubt it if they had tried to at least give him a test.

either way crisis avoided. I won't throw out all of the nailing the fuck out of the staff up to this point to one possible fuckup, as big as it may be, but I'm far more on alert than I was, I admit.

So I typically like your posts, but I do have a question....

You literally posted on the recruiting board at the same time that all this hit the fan....yet you were radio silent until 14 minutes ago and now you know everything that went down and everyone else who spent time trying to figure out how Sark could put together the rest of the staff and then lump Mike Stoops on that the end and rationalize all this was posting...........and now you are going to come and criticize people trying to figure out what the hell was going on while you said jack squat.

If this was happening as you present....it would have been nice to have some confirmation that it was rather then absolutely nothing from you on the matter.

That is some Nahlin level 9.95 posting there my friend.

Look I like your posts typically but literally there was 1 report out there reporting this was happening and everyone else who reported it was literally parroted the twit in Alabama who Bama fans claim is Mike Stoop's mouth piece.

Seems much more likely to me that the shit was just never happening to start with.

If that's the case, unfortunately the alternative is fact now. CDC and Sark went in on Stoops. Suggesting anything else will lead to a 1,000 word reply of name-calling.

Maybe Stoops told TFB that the other options have backed out and Sark had checked back in with them and they ran with it as there were no other options and floated Stoops... Then Oregon hired DeRuteyer and Tosh is back avaliable

It appears Stoops has been TFB's source for a lot of this stuff, so I wouldn't doubt if Stoops was talking to some others.

still betting he is here as an analyst - he has had a couple of choices to clearly say he isn't hiring him at all

edit: Super K now saying it was blocked last night so maybe not

This does make it interesting if Sark was told "no" from the beginning on Stoops, and just thought he'd go ahead and do it anyway.
