  1. If you are referring to the one on Hudson Bend, yes, it is looking really worn (more so than before). That said, had some really good Migas with chorizo from there last week (takeout, of course)
  2. One (or two, counting the go-for-it decision) play did not decide this game. What decided it was only being able to put up 17 points. Defense wasn't great, but when you limit the other team to 20 you should win with the weapons this offense has.
  3. 1. Buy larger than what you need now. You will be surprised at how fast it fills up, especially if you are filling it with anything other than standard-size cabernet bottles 2. Don't get a dual-zone. It limits your flexibility, and wine should be stored at 55-ish degrees whether red or white. You can pull the wine to chill in the refrigerator.
  4. I like Dak, but he was underwhelming. 25/39, 266, 1 TD. That stat line will not cut it this year.
  5. We really don’t post much in this board about second wines, but there are some really great values in “second” wines. I’ll start with a few: Pott Napa Valley Spottswoode Lyndenhurst M. Etain Turnbull White Label La Croix de Beaucaillou
  6. FYI — the batter itself is not spicy in hot chicken. There is some spice added to the flour and milk (just as you would for most fried chicken recipes), but the real heat is added after the frying process.
  7. Carne Guisada, to welcome the cooler weather
  8. The one in Bee Cave (at the Shops at the Galleria, across 71 from the Galleria) shut down in early 2019. It was in the end space that was originally a Waterloo Ice House.
  9. Pics in San Fran area look like a scene from “Night of the Comet”
  10. Tonight’s offering: The Vineyardist 2012. If you haven’t tried The Vineyardist, you should. Small production Diamond Mountain. They make 3 cabs, all very limited. It sells out through allocations, though you can find it on the secondary market
  11. Looks great, but did you really have to leave the price tag on the Krug? Don’t be that guy...
  12. Those are very specific ratings. Are you a figure skating judge?
  13. Interstellar was on point today. Pork belly burnt ends along with the usual suspects:
  14. So I just saw that Micklethwait is opening his trailer back up finally. Kerlin is still closed. I understand the issues COVID has caused, but why in the world have these guys stayed closed when other bbq places (and lots on on-bbq places) have been able to open —- especially trailers that were set up for takeout to begin with?

    BBQ

Agree on Opie's . It's All Good. Tried It's All Good a couple of times, and the brisket had the steamed look/taste
  16. Agree, except wrap in butcher paper instead of foil. Less “steaming” effect and better bark results
  17. Looks good. Where’s the money shot?
  18. Well, except the pellets are made with (1) wood, and (2) very small amounts of soybean oil. But feel free to muse on things you don’t know anything about.
  19. I’ve tried Weikels a couple of times on the drive between Austin and Houston. It really is not as good as Hruska’s
  20. The issue at Czech Stop is parking. Slovacek’s has better parking, but gets really crowded, but has really good ground sausage. Village Bakery downtown is also good.
  21. Hruska’s is always great. That said, I really like the style that they offer at places in West with the ground smoked sausage.
