  1. DIdnt realize Jack Ryan’s had closed, but haven’t been to court in Tyler since pre-COVID, which now makes me hungry for the Four Meat Plate at Stanley’s. Rick’s on the Square — been there for lunch, but not dinner. Food was pretty good.
  2. Need to toss the fork. Never stab meat while cooking.
  3. I have seen them off and on at HEB and at Salt & Time in Austin
  4. The Kingsman movie (The King’s Man) is a prequel (takes place around World War I time period). There will be a true Kingsman 3, but it hasn’t even started filming
  5. Depends on what you are looking for. Telluride is a great place, and you can’t go wrong. Been there many times in winter and summer. Durango is also nice, but typically more crowded. It is cheaper. Stayed there a few years ago, then again in late summer this year at an area about 20 min north of town. Will be staying in Telluride and the same area north of Durango in May. Durango will be cheaper to stay. If that’s not an issue, I’d go with T-ride just because it is so incredibly scenic. It will also be a little cooler (generally). Good restaurants. Free Gondola to take you to and from Mountain Village. You can stay in town or on the mountain, ad you can drive over to Durango if you want to check it out or go there to ride the train. You can get to Mesa Verde National Park from either (Indian cave dwellings). You can also drive over to Moab and go to Arches National Monument in about the same time from either.
  6. No issues on screw tops. They were trying to show you could make a quality wine and use a screw top. At the time, they said if they could sell the higher-end estate cab with screw top they'd try it. I think the only issue is that there isn't a lot of long-term info on how it affects aging. Not an issue on something like the Two Old Dogs, as it's a nice PnP
  7. I don't think I've had any in Austin, at least that I can recall. More of a New Mexico thing for the green, and Colorado for the red posole.
  8. You can have all of my share
  9. That is a nice “second” wine. They were really into trying to establish that a screw-top wine (like this) could be good. Had the pleasure of sitting out on the patio and tasting at the Herb Lamb vineyard a few years ago. The estate cab is really ice, and you can still find some bottles.. Sad part is that his widow, Jennifer Lamb, decided to stop the label and lease the incredible vineyard to Thomas River Brown. Not a fan of his wines. Great for her though, and it had to be a drain trying to keep the vineyard and wine production going. She sold the Two Old Dogs label to another winery, and they are producing under that label (after the 2016 vintage), though form different vines.
  10. David Phinney sold it years ago to Huneeus, who then sold it to Constellation, who now makes a bazillion bottles of it.
  11. A nod’s as good as a wink to a blind bat
  12. I’ve never timed it, but has anyone noticed if there is any difference in the line times between places where they slice and plate while you are at the counter v. The places where you order and they bring it to your table (Like Stanley's, Guess, Miller’s, etc)? Wonder if it makes any difference. Also, have not eaten at one in years (and not itching to go back), but there are some places that could learn about line management (though not food) from Rudy’s.
  13. Didn’t know he’d opened a restaurant
  14. Yes. Made lots of pork Chile verde over the years. This was actually the first time I tried it with beef. A Homesick Texan recipe, and it was very good.
  15. This is Surly. Bitch early, bitch loud, bitch late. And no one gets the benefit of the doubt
  16. Saban to Sark: “Because I like you, I will allow you to take Banks, Flood and Milwee. However, the price is you have to take Stoops”
  17. Article says they are moving the bar (which as I recall takes a chunk out of the middle) to the back, which I assume will create more seating. I’m guessing they will end redo the kitchen (gotta have room to make the Sunset sauce ;)). Apart from that you got me
  18. Deleted post due to brain failure
  19. Was wondering how it would be after they fired Erales. My guess is it will be fine in the short term because the sous chef and line cooks can replicate the dishes, but they will need to find someone that can innovate for the long term
  20. Except when he can’t show up to coach because he’s coked out and penny less..
