  1. Wow — that’s crazy
  2. Our Italy/France trip in April canceled of course. Hoping for October, but that is being very optimistic. For now, booked a house with great views in Angel Fire. Driving up in late June for 8 nights. Will bring most of our food and booze, and enjoy cool weather.
  3. I thought it was the pickles
  4. Lower Heaven
  5. He’ll be taunting Lumpy and telling an angel what a lovely gown she is wearing
  6. I’ve been trying to figure out his strategy, or maybe lack of one? On one hand, he seems indifferent and just foes what he feels like. Clearly he know the “game” from his past appearances. So he either is just on a lark, or he’s just been sticking to cooking good food, making sure he stays in, and waiting to get to the finals where he really can just do what he wants.
  7. Awesome. Here is a pic from their Facebook page. Tastes like a Frito Pie. The pic in my post above is the Jalapeño popper sausage — cheese, jalapeño, ground bacon
  8. Everything they do is solid, down to the smoked scalloped potatoes. Their Frito Pie sausage is outstanding; unfortunately they were out today
  9. Well, hopefully they will actually get Hispanic actors, instead of having Robert Loggia, F. Murray Abraham, Pacino, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, Paul Shenar, etc. play Cubans...
  10. Grabbed Interstellar today
  11. What place?
  12. This is it. I smoke the sausage as opposed to cooking it in a skillet and omitted the tomatoes. I also mixed it up the night before to let the flavors meld and let the mixture soak into the bread. Took it out of the refrigerator an hour before cooking https://www.thespruceeats.com/spicy-breakfast-casserole-3051879
  13. I like cheese in sausage. What I don't like is when it gets overcooked, and just runs everywhere
  14. Add Interstellar Frito Pie sausage and Jalapeno Popper sausage
  15. Austin is a little deficient on wine shops. You can find some interesting things at Twin at times, but the prices are jacked up considerably. I agree that Austin Wine Merchant has a good selection for European wines. Domestic selection is OK, and priced liked Twin. So here’s a secret: the H-E-B in Lakeway has a stupid wine selection, especially for domestic cabs (some high end wines that are difficult to find, along with a great selection of more affordable wines). Think Vine Hill Ranch, Memento Mori, etc. Lots of good non-cabs as well. Central Market on Lamar also carries a good wine selection. Prices at both are better than Twin. If you go to Total Wine, check the wines in the refrigerated section up front.
  16. I’e tried debating with you before. It’s like debating with my daughter when she was thirteen. Difference is it was worth the effort to engage with her.
  17. Agree. Have a reservation for our anniversary late this month. Will wait to see whether we actually go.
  18. Mother’s Day, Quarantine style Chicken and waffles (Cook’s Illustrated yeasted waffle recipe is the best IMO), Andouille breakfast casserole, Cheddar biscuits with chorizo gravy French 76 Texas Sheet Cake
  19. I’ve looked at that before — so it works?
  20. Patiently waiting for the decant
  21. Unless they are the jalapeno polenta croutons that Stephen Pyles makes:
