  1. On Howell Mountain, be sure to go to Arkenstone. Really great wine, and a great facility. Have done a tasting at Spring Mountain. Very nice grounds and the old house. If you go, do the Estate Tasting
  2. Ahh — duck fat fries at Goose & Gander
  3. Little mention of the Daniel Craig movies. I really like him as Bond. Quantum of Solace was the worst of the four, but the rest were pretty good (Spectre could have been better, but mainly because I thought Waltz just didn’t do a very good job as Blofeld).
  4. Good one. What’s not to love about a mountain-climbing, art collecting, professor/assassin who reports to an albino Nazi? And George Kennedy thrown in for good measure
  5. Usually it is the final 8, meaning pretty much everyone left at that point is pretty good (though usually 1 or 2 sneak through to that level). By doing it with 12, they guaranteed there were several weak links. Bravo creating unnecessary drama
  6. He’s done so much great stuff I will forgive him for this:
  7. Monterey Aquarium is awesome Eat dinner at Mission Ranch Restaurant in Carmel — Clint Eastwood’s place. Sit outside and enjoy the view
  8. Goldeneye? One of these things is not like the other One of these things just doesn’t belong...
  9. Seeing “The Mule” the other day (and seeing him looking old) made me think about my favorite Eastwood movies. Not the artistic “best” (like Unforgiven, MIllion Dollar Baby, etc), but the ones I will stop and watch every time if I see they are on TV. Using that metric, my top 5 are: 5. Thunderbolt and Lightfoot (young Jeff Bridges was awesome as well) 4. Kelly’s Heroes (Clint, Telly Savalas, Don Rickles, Donald Sutherland, WWII, gold —what more could you ask for?) 3. Dirty Harry (Do you feel lucky, punk?) 2. Outlaw Josey Wales (Dyin’ ain’t much of a livin’, boy) 1. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (really, any of the Man with No Name trilogy, but this one is epic)
  10. We saw it last week. Really liked it —not Eastwood’s top 5, but very good. Hard to see him looking so old, though..,
  11. Yes. But at least for the first 2 years (if not more), we'd have had no QB and the same upper classmen for talent. I don't know what influence Muschamp (and Applewhite starting in early 2008) had on recruiting, so I do agree that maybe they'd have done better.
  12. (sign). FWIW -- the question wasn't intended as a "What would it be like if Kennedy hadn't been assassinated" or "What would it be like if my wine refrigerator was magically stocked with Harlan and Screaming Eagle every day" scenario. Nor is it a defense of Mack in any way, shape or form. I've really wondered if there was a true plan. I also don't think that there was a sunshine and unicorns scenario either way -- the point (which I thought was apparent) was it seemed like the 2010-present scenario was pretty much set in place either way, given the lack of success of the anointed ones, the lack of a QB, and the shape that Mack had put the program in.
  13. You never know until you try... Honestly, if the meat is not freezer-burned it should be OK
  14. Bored while waiting on decent football (by the way, why do they even try to continue with that abomination at the Cotton Bowl?) 1. Was there really a Master Plan in 2009/2010 for Mack to retire (had UT won the national championship)? And, if so, 2. Would it have made any difference with what happened over the next few years? Muschamp has proven to be very mediocre (50-37, and basically 50% in conference with Florida and SC), Major has been anything but stellar (and would have had to deal with “the affair”), there was no QB in the pipeline in hindsight, and the talent overall was less than what people thought. Table talk.
  15. A “Nice Guy” doesn’t cheat on his wife...
  16. Uh, have to agree with Futureman. This thread is about beef ribs (a subset of which would be prime-quality beef ribs), not bone-in prime rib, Sam, Spur and Dr. Fear.
  17. Haven’t tried it but looked up the comparison tests. The Zojirushi has an insulated top, and the tests show it retains the temperature much longer than Yeti as a result.
  18. This pecan pie is easy, and awesome. Chocolate chips wind up forming a layer of chocolate at the bottom of this pie https://www.southernliving.com/recipes/chocolate-bourbon-pecan-pie-recipe
  19. You can also use these to add more searing heat: https://www.grillgrate.com/pellet-grills/
