  1. Automatic for sure - No way I want to try left-hand shift for the first time, while getting accustomed to everything else. I actually looked up the measurements of the two cars we were considering... the compact SUV is actually 3 inches more narrow than the compact sedan. Either way, I think I'm going to go for the compact SUV because we are doing the entire trip by car and each of us will have either a backpack or a small carry on bag.
  2. Ok... rental car time. Got the tickets secured. Now doing other logistics and planning. A compact SUV is cheaper than a compact sedan. Is this because no one wants to drive an SUV because of how narrow the roads are and the hedges/stone walls that are common in small towns? I'd prefer to have an SUV for space, but if it's just a bad idea I'll get the compact sedan. I'm not concerned about getting used to driving on the left, it's more about how people have mentioned the narrow roads and how it can be precarious.
  3. I thought the answer was always muledick... RIP old site.
  4. Apostrophe abuse shan't be tolerated.
  5. Jesus, @mchookem quite the scrong post. Spam fried rice... yup, gonna have to give that a shot.
  6. Oh, shit - didn't know O's closed... I swear we went there a couple years ago, but my brother is saying it's been closed longer than that. Such a good dude - went to HS with my uncle. Rancholoma is amazing. I started going there when they first opened and took a few dates during college there back when it was way cheaper than it is now. Love Ranco Pizza and Black Cur. They're always on our list. We have a house on our property, so we'll stay there, but typically the wife and I will do one night out and stay at Rancholoma and leave the kids at the house on their own. Haven't had Bella's before, will have to give it a shot. We are stopping at Mary's in Strawn on our way into town and then New York Hill in Mingus on our way back to IN. Haven't been to Cattle Drive before, but my brother was in Coleman over Thanksgiving and recommended it, so we'll give it a shot. Thanks - appreciate it. Probably a little too far away from Coleman for us, though.
  7. Because it's where our ranch is.
  8. Heading to Coleman for Spring Break and was planning on eating at Smokesmith BBQ (opened by the same people who run Rancholoma, Black Cur, and Rancho Pizzeria). But it seems as though it's closed permanently. Any suggestions for great BBQ out in that area near Coleman? Big O's is a great nostalgic place for our family, but BBQ is just good not great.
  9. Indiana State. Which I put on par with aggy in terms of academic prowess. Which may be selling ISU short.
  10. Nah - maroon carrots are more important that eliminating fire ants.
  11. That's a true "holy shit" video.
  12. Why do you think so? I am cautiously optimistic after watching it. They aren't just copy and pasting material from the Filmation cartoon and mini-comics like StarWars episode 7 was just the same story as 3 with new characters. It gives a new story and background for He-Man, and other than a different looking Roboto and a less cartoonish Spikor, the characters all seem to look pretty close to the toys. And it's not a half-assed version like the Lundgren one that ran out of money and had to sneak onto the studio lot to film the final scenes, borrow props/costumes from other movies, and really look/feel nothing like the Masters of the Universe. Plus in that movie we never get to see much of Eternia because of budget cuts as well. Just in this trailer we get glimpses of TrapJaw, Teela, the Sorceress not just as her person but also as Zoar, BeastMan, Skeletor, Fisto, Man-at-Arms, Ram-Man, Mekaneck, Evilynn, the Collector, Talon Fighter, possibly some of the three towers of Eternia, and not just Grayskull, but Snake Mountain at the end. Plus, we get what the 80s movies never showed us - not just Adam, but Adam transforming into He-Man and yelling "I have the Power!" which the quick image in the trailer of him transforming looked so much like Filmation. Just from what we see, they keep the origins of Marlena Glenn (if you notice it's also his last name on the deskplate) as being from Earth, and the new twist of sending Adam there as a kid to protect him. Then there's the sword he tries to take in the beginning of the trailer - the statue he's trying to pull it from was one of the original mockups for the He-Man character back in the day... oh and the employee of that store - behind her is the Big Jim toy box (which is the toy line that Cringer came from, looked like a normal tiger and they painted him green) just cool little eastereggs like that. And the power sword - as well as Skeletor's havoc staff - look way more like what they ought to compared to the 80s movie. Yes. I am a MOTU nerd. I loved it as a kid, my current youngest son loves it - he plays with his new toys from the last few years which inspired me to begin restoring all my old toys who had rotten rubber bands in their joints or were slightly deteriorating. So yeah, I may be slightly biased, but it looks like it has a chance to me, it looks like lots of thought went into it for fans, and it seems like it's not going to be some half-assed project like the 80s live action movie.
  13. Came here to post this. I was sent the link during my off period at school today. I am a little on the younger end of the MOTU demographic, was born the second year the toys were out... so naturally my HS aged brothers were all about being kids again and playing with the toys with me. I love MOTU. It's the toy and TV franchise of my childhood. I was amped when 5 years ago Mattel brought MOTU back, made a new TV series that picked up where the 80s left off, and then even Netflix reimagined the show and was pretty good. My youngest son has watched all series - 80s, New Adventures, 200x, Revelation/Revolution, and Netflix. He didn't really dig the old Dolph Lundgren movie, so I am glad he gets a new version to experience. I just hope they spend more time in Eternia than the 80s movie did. I just really, really hope this delivers.
  14. This. This is why Shaggy/Surly is the greatest collection of assholes on the planet. My wife and I decided today that this summer in the week that my kids don't have sports (the one before school starts) we are doing an Ireland trip. The first place on the internet I look for advice? Here. And this isn't the only thread. I have pulled up three others and am building a google doc with places, ideas, etc. Not only is this the only post, but just one that made me realize how great the collective knowledge on cooking and travel has benefited me over the years since first joining in 2008. I can't wait. Two of our eight days we will do tourist shit. The rest... we're going off the beaten path with what y'all have shared. Probably spend most of our free days in the south - my wife's college roommate is Irish and lives in Dublin, so we have to do a day there, and then hit the road after that.
  15. Simpletons.
  16. Nicely done. Looks awesome.
  17. Got a sinus infection that knocked me down for a few days, so did not yet. Will have to make the dough tonight and pizza later this week as well.
  18. I smoke it with the seasoning on there.
  19. I've probably posted it before - or maybe someone else here posted it and this is where I got it from, but for the third year in a row I will be doing this Aaron Franklin version of a smoked turkey with a 2.5 day dry brine in the fridge. It's honestly way more flavorful and juicy than a fried turkey or a roasted turkey that was injected. Hell, I've done the 3 different styles of turkey I already mentioned over the last 20 years, plus one more... and honestly the second best way I've done them is the good old Ron Popeil "set it and forget it" rotisserie. A few years ago I got stuck with a brand new one from the 90s in a white elephant gift exchange and decided that year to give it a shot for Christmas dinner... and it was so much better than I ever imagined. If I ever don't have the time or the weather is so bad I can't use the smoker, I will always defer to the rotisserie. The bird is rubbed down and in the fridge now, ready for a Thursday AM smoke with some already made breakfast tacos and Bloody Mary chilling in there as well.
  20. Damn - That tavern style looks amazing. Might make that our meal for Friday next week after Thanksgiving and then leftover turkey and sides on Saturday.
  21. If I am ranking the habanero sauces I have in my fridge right now, L to R. Marie’s still takes the cake.
