  1. I think this is something we can all agree upon.
  2. Agreed. It’s technically part of Indianapolis. Glad they didn’t go by that name.
  3. Lawrence Indiana - not too far from the suburb I live in. I liked how the officers kept speaking English to the Mexican guy who clearly no speak ingles.
  4. In a related topic, last night some asshole tried to enter St. Patrick's Cathedral in NYC with two jugs of gasoline, lighterfluid, and lighters. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/04/17/nyregion/st-patricks-cathedral-marc-lamparello.html

    Lent

Technically Catholics are called to keep their Lenten sacrifice until the Easter season begins, which is after sunset on Saturday, or after Mass if you go that night. The Triduum (Thus-Sat) is also technically its own mini-season on the church calendar.
  6. Chargers old/new look is scrong.
  7. I'll take that bet @Lobo. Sagrada Familia is in the home-stretch. Notre Dame could be a 100 year project.
  8. Rather than try to put it in my words, I copied this from the Diocese of Scranton website that does a good job explaining it... Such a program (self-insurance) demands an increased awareness and responsibility for safety conditions, and the correction of improper, hazardous or unsafe situations. The benefits of such awareness will be a reduction in total claims, and continued savings in the cost of insurance to all parishes and agencies. We maintain very high levels of Self-Insurance Retention. Above these levels, we have purchased various levels of Excess Insurance to cover against large catastrophes. Our program must, therefore, be managed in accordance with the recognized principles and practices of underwriting and claims adjustment that is required under the terms of our excess policies. ADVANTAGES TO EACH PARISH ⦁ All Risk Coverage ⦁ No co-insurance requirement ⦁ All Properties fully protected ⦁ Newly acquired properties automatically insured ⦁ Liability exposures fully protected ⦁ All parishes organizations and activities protected ⦁ Automatic coverage for Parish and Diocesan events ⦁ Favorable costs
  9. In France I am sure it's different since I believe the government technically owns ND. In America most parishes/diocese are self-insured. We had an arson light a shelf of hymnals on fire in the back of our church 6 years ago. The fire was small and contained and only damaged the shelf and the wall between the interior of the church and the lobby... but between cleaning up the smoke damage, replacing carpets with tile, etc etc it took us 2 years to recover from a relatively sequestered fire that only burned for less than 10 mins before the FD arrived. I can only imagine the road ahead for ND and the rebuild.
  10. The anchor that was doing it is now off and I'm switching channels. He was a Catholic and was speaking from the heart. For that hour it was the only topic they covered.
  11. I watch CNN once every 4 years just for shits and giggles. Tonight, it's the only channel on appletv coving this that I can find. And the anchor covering it is doing a bang-up job. I'm pleasantly surprised. It's good. Real good.
  12. It's an hour away just outside Coleman, but goto Rancho Loma for dinner - make reservations. Do it. DO IT. http://rancholoma.com/ They also have vineyards and a pizzeria in Coleman... https://www.ranchopizzeria.com/ https://www.rlv.wine/
  13. While the whole story is tragic, there are going to be some motherfucking tales of heroism with these boys and what they did today. Look forward to hearing them.
  14. Yeah. That can't be right It's not. There are many photos from the parapets at ND looking out (usually with a gargoyle) at how far away the tower is. Looking for one now.
  15. The tower is close to 4 miles away from Notre Dame. That seems shopped.
  16. Such an upgrade. Those are some sharp uniforms.
  17. Manziel was on the Dan Patrick show this morning. Apparently he goes by "John" now - putting the Johnny phase of his life behind him, he said. DP asked him straight up why he was kicked out of the CFL and Manziel spun some stupid ass response, completely dodging the question. Still can't own his mistakes.
