  1. not going to get much better chances than that...
  2. Do we have a culture problem on this team? Fuck if I know. But I bet that applies to most of us on this board. But I do think, if our RS FR QB hadn't had such a shitty day...we wouldn't even have this thread.
  3. why the fuck are they showing grown men feeding each other?
  4. I love that our "struggles" with Iowa State somehow prove that we won't win another game...but their *loss* to Appalachian State has no bearing on how they will do the rest of the year...
  5. LOL. OK, Luigi. Pretty sure the only "recruiting" we'd have to do is make sure he watches a few drives of our offense, compared to Jimbo's...
  6. Let me start by saying that watching the defense on 3rd & 4th down is incredibly frustrating. If you look at points, we're #21 in the country in scoring defense. We've held every opponent other than Tech below their scoring average. And in most cases, we've held them to their lowest or 2nd lowest point total of the year. The biggest outlier was Tech (their 2nd highest scoring game) and now ISU (their 4th highest). But at some point, that inefficiency on 3rd/4th down is going to bite us (again). And I have to believe it is demoralizing for the defense to get a team to 3rd & long, or even 4th & whatever, and then let them convert. Over and over. Like I said...frustrating...
  7. Just finished "Turn the Ship Around" (David Marquet). Fairly quick read, but a great take on how to build an empowered team.
  8. Yes!!! Have some micro-rep for a Trivium reference.
  9. I thought that a business sign that said "Business Name, Est 1900" meant that the business was started *some time* around 1900 (est = estimated). I thought there were some really stupid business owners that didn't know exactly when their business was launched, when the "estimated" date was only a few years in the past.
  10. I think it is great that non-believers want to post in this thread. What a fantastic opportunity to show them that true Christians are loving, kind, and non-judgmental. A relationship with Christ is a deep, personal connection between one person and the savior. But organized religions (Christian and not) have been used for thousands of years, to gain wealth, influence, and power. Sure, they often manage to do some good as well. When people post in here, what they have seen in their encounters with organized religion, they may not be doing so just to be hostile (but this is Surly, after all ). Organizations that proclaim themselves as "good", should absolutely be held accountable when they do "evil". And an organization that proclaims themselves as "good", ought to respond to feedback as an opportunity to improve.
  11. Some of the missile launches are coming from the Black Sea Fleet. I'd sure love to see a few more of them follow the path of the Moscow and get "go-fuck-yourself"-ed.
  12. This is it for me as well. *Someone* is open on every play. The only question is if the QB has the time and/or the mental processing power to find them.
  13. Makes sense, and I was unaware of a lot of those details (makes sense how Russia has made the other occupied territory extremely hostile for anyone that isn't pro-russia). I bow to your (and the collective Surly) knowledge on this one. Given all that, I'm 100% onboard with cutting the water off. Cheers.
  14. Do we think they'll do this? Assuming that much of the civilian population is still pro-Ukrainian...and will soon be part of Ukraine again...I don't know if cutting off the water is the best move. I do wish more of those rail cars were burning, btw...
  15. Same here. Ricky's run was the most amazing moment I've seen in DKR. Nebraska was amazing, Okie State comeback was amazing, Bama this year. Okie State was amazing because we all knew VY would get us back in it. The crowd didn't 'give up'. Bama this year, the overall atmosphere was the best I've seen. But there has been so much added in and around the stadium itself, so the crowd noise was only a part of that.
  16. I think it was more about you saying gender fluidity required a suspension of reality. A rather unsubtle way to say you think you're right, and everyone else is living on another planet.
  17. As a non-regular-church-attending follower of Christ, I'll take a shot at this one. Your first sentence sure feels like you're trying to claim some personal persecution that I don't think is the point of most of this conversation. Your next couple of sentences start with "I know"...but based on some posts earlier in this thread, regarding translations in the bible, I don't know how you can so confidently say you "know" what the bible says about homosexuality. Is homosexuality a sin? I'll admit that, prior to some of these conversations about translations, I would have confidently said "yes". Now, I'm not sure. HOWEVER, I don't spend much time worrying about it, as it isn't on the list of sins that I commit. I don't say that to mean I'm proud of committing sins. I'm simply trying to say that there is a long list of sins, and *all* fall short in the attempt to avoid them. IMO, we should all be focused on the sins we personally commit, and not worry about the sins others commit (assuming they don't include a victim). It always seems strange to me how society picks a subset of sins to get all 'up in arms' about. Lust, envy, pride, etc. are all over our entertainment streams (and a huge part of most of our lives), BUT DID YOU KNOW 2 GUYS ARE LIVING TOGETHER ON THE OTHER SIDE OF TOWN???!!!!!!
  18. TexAgs: Texas is a cesspool because their donors have so much influence. Also TexAgs: WHY WON'T OUR DONORS USER THEIR INFLUENCE TO FIX THIS!!
  19. The problem is, everything you are suggesting essentially happened after Russia annexed Crimea in 2014. Everyone said, 'let him have it', 'it isn't worth fighting over'. A few brave souls pointed out that appeasement rarely works. And now we have Russia attempting to grab more pieces of the same neighbor, sovereign state. I don't think we need any more data points to know how Russia will act going forward. In fact, this time, they've plainly said they feel they have a right to even more land that doesn't belong to them, even past the borders of Ukraine. If there is war with Russia, it will only happen because Russia forced it. They continue to blatantly ignore international law, and continue to dare anyone to try to stop them. FAFO. Fuck Putin.
  20. https://www.amazon.com/Elite-2-Controller-Black-Xbox-One/dp/B07SFKTLZM
  21. I want to say "no", but the elite version controllers we have seem to need a fix (usually for stick drift) every 18-24 mos... The standard controllers are supposed to be more reliable, I hear...
