  1. Makes sense, and I was unaware of a lot of those details (makes sense how Russia has made the other occupied territory extremely hostile for anyone that isn't pro-russia). I bow to your (and the collective Surly) knowledge on this one. Given all that, I'm 100% onboard with cutting the water off. Cheers.
  2. Do we think they'll do this? Assuming that much of the civilian population is still pro-Ukrainian...and will soon be part of Ukraine again...I don't know if cutting off the water is the best move. I do wish more of those rail cars were burning, btw...
  3. Glorious start to this morning.
  4. Same here. Ricky's run was the most amazing moment I've seen in DKR. Nebraska was amazing, Okie State comeback was amazing, Bama this year. Okie State was amazing because we all knew VY would get us back in it. The crowd didn't 'give up'. Bama this year, the overall atmosphere was the best I've seen. But there has been so much added in and around the stadium itself, so the crowd noise was only a part of that.
  5. I think it was more about you saying gender fluidity required a suspension of reality. A rather unsubtle way to say you think you're right, and everyone else is living on another planet.
  6. As a non-regular-church-attending follower of Christ, I'll take a shot at this one. Your first sentence sure feels like you're trying to claim some personal persecution that I don't think is the point of most of this conversation. Your next couple of sentences start with "I know"...but based on some posts earlier in this thread, regarding translations in the bible, I don't know how you can so confidently say you "know" what the bible says about homosexuality. Is homosexuality a sin? I'll admit that, prior to some of these conversations about translations, I would have confidently said "yes". Now, I'm not sure. HOWEVER, I don't spend much time worrying about it, as it isn't on the list of sins that I commit. I don't say that to mean I'm proud of committing sins. I'm simply trying to say that there is a long list of sins, and *all* fall short in the attempt to avoid them. IMO, we should all be focused on the sins we personally commit, and not worry about the sins others commit (assuming they don't include a victim). It always seems strange to me how society picks a subset of sins to get all 'up in arms' about. Lust, envy, pride, etc. are all over our entertainment streams (and a huge part of most of our lives), BUT DID YOU KNOW 2 GUYS ARE LIVING TOGETHER ON THE OTHER SIDE OF TOWN???!!!!!!
  7. TexAgs: Texas is a cesspool because their donors have so much influence. Also TexAgs: WHY WON'T OUR DONORS USER THEIR INFLUENCE TO FIX THIS!!
  8. The problem is, everything you are suggesting essentially happened after Russia annexed Crimea in 2014. Everyone said, 'let him have it', 'it isn't worth fighting over'. A few brave souls pointed out that appeasement rarely works. And now we have Russia attempting to grab more pieces of the same neighbor, sovereign state. I don't think we need any more data points to know how Russia will act going forward. In fact, this time, they've plainly said they feel they have a right to even more land that doesn't belong to them, even past the borders of Ukraine. If there is war with Russia, it will only happen because Russia forced it. They continue to blatantly ignore international law, and continue to dare anyone to try to stop them. FAFO. Fuck Putin.

  10. I want to say "no", but the elite version controllers we have seem to need a fix (usually for stick drift) every 18-24 mos... The standard controllers are supposed to be more reliable, I hear...
  11. i've taken a couple of elite controllers to Game Republik in Austin, with good results. but, for a regular controller, I'd agree - it may be cheaper to just buy a new one. *shrug*
  12. I have a recteq 700 and added a bullseye this past year for similar reasons (burgers, fajitas, steak searing). The addition of the bullseye allowed me to finally let go of the gas grill. - it will get *damn* hot - it is not as 'hands off' as the 700. I'm finding I have to clean out the firepot more frequently to ensure a quick startup/heatup. - i have a small cast iron sear plate that I use on it for steaks, but I'm strongly considering this replacement: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XSB48CH/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_6?smid=A31XRSPLDNVTCO&th=1 Overall, I do love the Bullseye...just have to accept that the higher temp means a little more maintenance (keeping the firepot clean).
  13. Well the weirdness is all true. But the "7 out of 8 medal of honor recipients" part is bullshit...
  14. All Male Cheerleaders?
  15. Ended up at the south end of bevo blvd at a friend’s tailgate. Hope to catch you guys for celebration post-game! Hook ‘em!!!!
  16. Hoping to swing by...probably before...maybe after...
  17. Holy crap...I certainly had high hopes for Tuchel...but it looks like the Chelsea tradition (of moving on quickly from underperforming coaches) continues...
  18. Some days I love Surly...some days, i get exactly what I should expect...
  19. Starting research for our retirement property (a few acres in the hill country), and recently took a tour of a nearby barndominium that was pretty impressive inside. We had not previously really considered them. Any surly-ites living in a barndo or have any thoughts?
  20. Fofana in. ~$75M fee, 7 yr contract. https://www.espn.com/soccer/soccer-transfers/story/4716428/chelsea-sign-wesley-fofana-on-seven-year-contract-from-leicester-city
  21. Triggered. Also: let's "do a quick sync" and "double-click on that" to make sure our "resources are aligned" and working towards our "organizational objectives". [edit]: just grow a pair and say you don't agree or understand and you want to discuss it.
  22. Don't "reply all", unless the whole group really needs to see your damn reply.
  23. +1 for Goodnotes. Also, get a paperlike screen protector.
  24. The only thing this guy says that is based in fact, is that there is a lot of pressure on the shoulders of the starting QB for Texas. Oh, and also, Quinn is not Patrick Mahomes. The rest is a lot of assumption and misinterpreting statements. And fuck off with that USC shit on the wall. To semi-quote Will Smith..."keep my team's name out yo mouth".
