  1. CP3 was great in that fourth quarter. And he has 38 assists and only 2 turnovers this series. I think a 19 to 1 A/T ratio is fairly good, lol. Only about 5 months younger than LeBron. Have to give props for that...
  2. Dang, if only Marquette could have borrowed our entire first half of scoring against VT to add to their total -- they could have won by 2. So close.

    NBA 2021-2022

Fair enough, I guess we'll see what happens. I'm pretty sure more than one NBA team will be interested, but others (I think serious contenders) will likely not be as engaged in the idea. I'm certainly not advocating that it's a slam dunk winner, only that dismissing it outright isn't an intelligent strategy for some NBA teams. The new TV deal is set to start in 2025 - not 2024 when it's likely this issue would be in play - so your point about the same season isn't likely relevant, but I do think it's a factor in long-term planning regardless. We're going to see some players especially staggering contracts and waiting for long-term deals to try and take advantage of that estimated bump. Also, there are other considerations beyond short term financial gain when aligning your plans as a franchise.

    1. The NBA is a completely different animal than it was when Jordan played for the Wizards, and Jordan wasn't going to possibly play with his own child. I think that's an absolutely terrible comparison. If you don't think teams won't seriously consider the financial parameters of signing both of them, I really can't help you. It may or may not work out, but to completely dismiss the possibility before 2024 would be very shortsighted for any NBA executive. The very fact that it is already a narrative two full years before it might even happen speaks volumes about this already. Of course, a lot can happen before then (both to LeBron or Bronny) but it's going to be a real story and stories create financial traction if it triggers a certain way. 2. No more than any other young person -- it's not specific to Bronny, but I don't think it's good for the NBA to push this kid if he doesn't have the talent to stick, regardless of the LeBron angle. 3. I already stated that financial consideration wouldn't be much of a consideration but perhaps you completely missed it. You're speaking in extremes and absolutes when most of this case specific to a unique set of parameters, and nuanced given each particular team and their strategic goals.

    NBA 2021-2022

I'd legitimately be worried an NBA team "uses" Bronny for the exposure/LeBron angle without a real interest long-term. On the other hand, LeBron will likely remain a powerful NBA influence even after retirement (and possibly an owner someday), so there's some risk to a team for treating his son like crap too. I personally (if I owned a team) wouldn't risk looking like things are a sham (meaning they don't view Bronny as a legit prospect) if a majority of reasonable people would infer that is the case. I think the smarter teams would give Bronny every chance to stick on their roster. But he just might not be good enough despite honorable intentions. I don't know enough about Bronny to understand his mental makeup, but I would hope that LeBron as a father would not push his child to do something that isn't realistic to his abilities. Bronny has also trended down a bit from prior rankings as his height and length has not shot up as much as hoped by some...I've heard he's got some great court vision like his dad, but he seems to be more of a combo 1/2 guard than pure point right now.

Still doubtful Bronny is an NBA player, but on the other hand, I would be very comfortable betting that he doesn't get past at worst the second round of the draft. Considering the potential financial windfall and attention for a franchise...it seems like an easy and low risk pick for multiple NBA teams.
  7. Given the entirety of everything in the program right now, no real concerns about any specific regular season loss. We could have played better, but Baylor at their peak is definitely a better team than ours right now. I think we maybe can max out at the Sweet 16 and anything beyond that would be a bonus, but I can see us losing in the first round too. I realistically expect one win in the tourney, maybe two as I think we're about a Top 20ish team. But matchups and the one and done format makes some variance possible as always for the tourney... But it's just a completely different feeling knowing that a specific team in a given year (like right now) has some limitations versus believing the leader of said program is the big limitation. You just have hope for the future, and it's only the first year.

    NBA 2021-2022

I personally hope Philly and Brooklyn meet in the playoffs -- it could be highly entertaining. I'd like to see Simmons lock down Harden completely and on the other side maybe seeing Embiid fouling Simmons in the 4th quarter and having some fun about it, etc. I actually love the trade for Brooklyn if Simmons pans out (ok maybe a big if) because I just felt something was off about their team this year, and I think Curry helps a lot too. There were some really bad coaching and injuries/Kyrie so far, but even so, they didn't feel like a real team to me somehow. Absolute huge ceiling, but I never felt like they were going to get it together and peak when it counted with Harden. I am guessing the Brooklyn front office felt the same thing and made this trade from that perspective. Some fresh blood and the return of KD might be just what was needed to hit their ceiling.
  9. I dislike seeing any talent that can't reach his true potential. He clearly is an amazing talent from his regular season career, but he's too often just small when it really matters. Some people - whether in sports or any walk of life - seem to mentally shrink in high pressure moments of impact/importance. He appears to be one of them from a not so small sample size anymore.
  10. Wow, huge props to Stafford and Kupp there! The Rams tried so hard to lose it, but somehow snatched it at the end.
  11. Any end game situation without at least an end zone attempt/shot is an automatic failure of coaching to me. Any good coach and QB should know with 14 seconds left, what happened was quite possible if you run it as you are counting on the refs to act with the same urgency. (slide earlier, hand the ball directly, don't make that call, etc.)
  12. Very fair to criticize a bad decision, because it was bad. But, I can respect that Saban doesn't fuck around with mistakes sometimes either. How many times have I (and others I am sure) seen a coordinator/assistant here that we knew was shit, but somehow they are still back the following year?
  13. Maybe it's just me but the very fact that people can reasonably debate Baylor and Texas being equal programs in football recently speaks volumes in itself.
  14. Born and raised on Oahu, still have a lot of family there and many friends/contacts working at or connected otherwise to UH Manoa. It's apparently pretty bad. Obviously, this is a low tier program with only one flash in the pan season (Colt Brennan getting the team to play Georgia with a regular undefeated season) and some solid years, but I don't even think the school has the money to easily do a buyout so soon. The team also had some coaching strife internally with Rolovich and other coaches kind of worse than disclosed officially to the public, but this sounds worse from people involved with both situations. (all hearsay but I trust it reasonably)
  15. I remember seeing this one. I think it did a 10x from launch the first 24-48 hours or so, but with BSC tokens, other than a few rare exceptions like Safemoon -- best to just pump and dump quickly for the most part. Throw in 1 BNB presale/launch for decent project, let it go up a bit, get out quick. And to say it's high risk (very high risk) is still an understatement.
  16. I'm a heavy crypto trader and have a number of things set up, but it really helps to have a trusted person or two that can actually understand how to access Metamask/TrustWallet and/or other wallets/storage if anything were to happen to you. You can't really just randomly hide say your seed phrases and wallet(s) info in a safety deposit box without a little more context for someone looking at it later. One of my kids is perfect for direct oversight if needed, as he understands the entire crypto space very well on the defi side at least (Telegram communities/low MC very risky stuff/meme coins/gaming NFTs), even at his age, and he's got a TrustWallet (uses it for Binance Smart Chain based stuff mostly) and Metamask (for ETH based) and is very familiar with the defi space and also the bigger tokens (BTC/ETH/SOL/ADA/ADAX) as well and he's kind of the point person to help my wife if things really went bad, etc. I probably should be doing more actually...
  17. LeBron has done some things I don't like and I've generally not rooted for him very often (definitely not his Miami days, didn't mind him winning the 2016 Cleveland title) (and I have disliked China, Decision, passive aggressive behavior far too often) but I think he could help the program. Just imagine having two of the greatest NBA players of this generation (I doubt many sane and objective NBA fans would argue against LeBron #1 and Durant #2 for the current generation of players) at a Texas game and/or doing more for the program, etc. I think it's worth the risk personally, even though I have doubts about Bronny as a high impact talent even in college...but he's certainly in play as a solid recruit/prospect I think...I don't think it would be a total joke or anything. I definitely don't think Bronny is Tim Tebow/Urban Meyer and the Jags...

    Formula 1 2021

I don't think they would necessarily match in fandom, but I understand what you mean. I get the feeling with my limited exposure to F1 fans on here that I could maybe hide "Name A" and give the exact same facts and instead switch it to "Name B" (a different driver) and some people would spin it completely differently (point out only the negative and minimize the positive opposing viewpoint) or vice versa just because of the bias of which driver is being discussed. And I see this with other sports too of course. But I am enjoying this sport as very much a casual, no rooting interest for anyone really...just enjoying it. Has a season ever been tied before going into a final race?
  19. Maybe someone can pin it somewhere here or elsewhere on the general site too so everyone can easily find it. If you say it might help, I'll definitely take your word for it. (signed)
  20. That didn't take long -- Malachi Nelson already decommitted.
  21. Maybe someone can help me but I'm legitimately curious about a few things: 1) How important was CDC to the SEC stuff? 2) Maybe he wanted Franklin as the coach? Any other backup names? 3) How bad (maybe someone in the know can speak to this more clearly) are our BMDs controlling a hire process versus other schools? Surely this isn't unique to us, but perhaps we simply have bad evaluators at this level? Just out of touch old men that are either a) happy with how things are even if losing because revenue/their personal power/experiences with the program are fine to them or maybe b) just awful at making hiring decisions even though they want to win? I mean, when I read that Sark never overcame a halftime deficit in his entire career, that was a very big metric to me that should have almost been a deal breaker.
  22. Yes, unless Kansas is not the same program it has been for...basically decades. No, rebuilding and losing games to certain teams is fine, but it is not the same as losing to Kansas. Yes, unless Kansas has a reasonable talent gap to the current team that lost.
  23. There is no doubt in my mind that the owners are going to really play hardball for the next CBA, with Simmons as one of the poster children for their strategy. I can even understand owners being annoyed enough at the Harden/AD situations, but at least their contracts were up soon. Simmons is a whole different animal.
