    Beto 2020

I really don't know on Beto. He seems like a high risk high reward kind of gamble. He's got the kind of charisma that could absolutely generate electric momentum if things break right, but he could also get killed by the very tough Democratic machine/primary process in which you really do need to at times be ready to go negative and even be proactive in attacking and going for the proverbial kill as needed.

I think this is interesting, but I'm not as keen on the idea that the five other justices in this scenario already on the Court can't participate in nominating anyone else (that opens up in the five slots) which makes it almost seem as if it is a different tier of Supreme Court Justice. I think any justice should have the same rights as any other except with some specific tasks delegated to the Chief Justice.
  3. Yeah, there is a reason they want Bogut right now. The most alarming thing in this beyond Cousins is Green's defensive rating which confirms what most eyeballs know this year -- he is not the same player he has been the last few years. That and their weakened bench gives (a little) hope to other contenders, but you still feel like they can turn on a switch and play much better as we have seen on a number of prior championship teams.
  4. I'm probably in the minority on this, but if I was a coach personally looking for a job, I'd want to go to the school with extremely high expectations and pressure. I would want and would believe I would thrive under that pressure, but I do think logically most coaches would rate a potential Sweet Sixteen (reasonable to shoot for this every year and if you get lucky with being hot/good matchups in the brackets or a magical roster/chemistry here and there some years you make a deep run) program with lower initial expectations as a plus for sure.
  5. I think they should do exactly that and play him until the first break or so in the first and third quarters and otherwise let him play when Durant and/or Steph rests starting the 2nd/4th quarters. Depends on the opponent/matchups but I don't like him much against say Houston except to prevent Capela from dominating the boards and getting easy flashes.
  6. Yeah, showing flashes of a higher ceiling with quality wins probably helps more than the harm of being extremely inconsistent game to game overall.
  7. Their ceiling is still incredibly high, they just don't appear to be together mentally but maybe a game like this jumpstarts them going forward. Also Hayward -- I wonder if he has played a better first half this season. I've only seen about 4-6 Celtic games so maybe Celtic fans that have watched him much more can correct me.
  8. Everyone is going to attack him on the pick and roll relentlessly during the playoffs. Especially Houston, OKC, and Sacramento (if they make it).
  9. I think Houston at 3 or 6 is better than 4 or 5 for that very reason.
  10. You might be right especially right now. Maybe that changes in the later years of his contract.
  11. Zo is a very good defensive player especially for his age. I think he has great defensive potential long-term. He also has elite court vision that cannot be taught very easily and I think he makes the game easier for other players and that's great for a point guard. He's got some positives for sure going forward. Unfortunately, his ability to convert in the paint and free throw line is so absurdly bad that right now he is an offensive liability to the extreme. I think this can be fixed somewhat as he ages into his prime, but the biggest concern to me about Lonzo is his leadership ability as a point guard and to a smaller extent his motor. I am legitimately concerned if he has the mental fortitude and mindset to be a leader.
  12. You don't need to take the LSAT, you understand the law enough to graduate law school.
  13. At what point do these monetization strategies backfire? Or have younger people accepted they'll need to spend hundreds of dollars on AAA games? You've seen some pushback, most notably on Battlefront (EA Star Wars game) which I believe had a material impact on that game and other releases. You are now seeing developers be more sneaky and/or tweaking their loot boxes to only cosmetics or waiting until the game is out and then adding more stuff after reviews have been out. But, the mobile market making so much money on microtransactions has absolutely impacted the console/PC game market now as the money is too good due to the small but very impactful "whales" that spend tens of thousands of dollars (and yes some absolutely do spend that kind of money) on this stuff. Then you have a lot more people just spending 5-20 dollars here and there that adds up too.
  14. I just wish I could see Texas play oh say three different games and then see three tweaked (read: actually different) game plans in how they run their sets, etc. There is an obvious coaching reason - besides just bad shooting but of course that doesn't help - there were only three assists last game. Just have to wait it out and hope change is coming down the road...
  15. The trade situation and injuries killed the Lakers but you wonder if they were really as good as their early 20-14 record indicated. They were really good defensively early on, and that has completely disappeared now. They probably should just play LeBron about 20 minutes a game and shut it down basically for next year. I don't think we are going to see "best player in the NBA" LeBron ever again but there is no reason he couldn't emulate a great Magic Johnson type role with less scoring because he could easily play as an elite point guard on offense even as he declines due to his basketball IQ, court vision, and passing ability which are all less reliant on his physical gifts.
  16. Nm. Looked it up. 2nd Round (54th pick). Yeah, here are his combine numbers: Pre-draft measurables Ht Wt 40-yard dash 10-yd split 20-yd split 20-ss 3-cone Vert jump Broad 6 ft 1 in (1.85 m) 216 lb (98 kg) 4.71 s 1.61 s 2.77 s 4.33 s 7.35 s 33 1⁄2 in (0.85 m) 9 ft 6 in (2.
  17. It seems random to me as I see everything mixed up but who knows as my sample size is nothing like the number of games some play daily. I personally don't think it appears to have skill based matchmaking although the pre-made teams with friends you see (or streamers) sometimes are crazy good. I also had a guy on my team once with I think around 1700 kills only days after it came out and I just had to laugh out loud (maybe curse too heh as time is valuable) figuring out how much time he had to spare in general for life even if he was pretty good. I'd guess I have played about 40 games total over two weeks here and there give or take ten or so either direction, mostly using Wraith. My youngest says I am pretty good for "win ratio" but that's very misleading as the majority of wins I have been carried by superior players. I've tried Wingman and am fine with the full upgrades but otherwise my aim stinks. I'm pretty good with the Spitfire and R-301 medium and close range and that G something sniper gun long range and suck at most everything else especially shotguns. Pretty sure I'll burn out as this kind of game normally isn't my thing (like story based much more) but so far it's been fun and I've had some free time at the right time too. I am very curious how it stacks up against Fortnite in six months, the EA stock was taking a huge dive recently but this game has popped it back up, but now Anthem might drop it again as apparently it's early reviews are not so great (haven't tried yet, not really a looter shooter type very much).
  18. I got in a game two days ago with this kid that was probably 12ish and he proceeded to kill 21 people on his own with dual Wingman pistols and the other two of us got three kills each, heh. He was using the robot character and jump grappling everywhere above and around us but he was even pinging specific spots for us to get good shot angles as he drew them out for us while he was still doing everything else. I was actually impressed just how quickly he was processing all this information and relaying it verbally and with pings all at once while of course also fighting and destroying everyone around us. Of course he then told us he was much better with another character (the female solider). In a month or two this game is probably beyond my ability to even keep up reasonably as the skill level continues to increase and I've even won about 10 games and it's not even close how to how good some of these kids are right now. I've never liked any other BR game but this one I have enjoyed so far.
  19. Yeah, I know a few people in this camp too. A few I know in particular are very liberal generally on almost everything and support things like all gay marriage rights from the beginning and transgenders in the military and such and are not even religious in the slightest but they value all life as very sacred and are against the death penalty and abortion on their own moral principles. This issue trumps (sorry) everything else for them even though I would say for 90% of things they are definitely Democratic in my eyes.
  20. Wow, that was eye opening for me as I am not too familiar with how TABC operates. I am a small partner in two liquor establishments in another state and that state also has a liquor commission, but there the way to survive there is to basically "donate" heavily to the fire and police departments with their charity balls/fundraisers/tournaments/dinners etc (extended families of these two areas co-mingled HEAVILY with extended family members as liquor agents) and even help sponsor specific high school sports programs. (again, heavy concentration of these three departments from similar neighborhoods/extended families). Do larger establishments in Austin have any ability to politically stave off pressure/problems as needed or it is a complete clusterfuck?
  21. None necessarily -- except maybe actually winning the 2020 election. Which I personally believe considering the older candidates out there.
  22. Just a quick final thought. The main thing I am trying to say at the end is that let's say you have Vaccine A with a ten plus year track record and SAE rate/safety record in general you can identify specifically for that drug versus Vaccine B which is the hot new thing according to your Doctor A (also you don't know if that doctor is specifically connected to Company A or is literally just trying to flirt/sex up with Pharm Sales Rep A to push this thing so hard) but it has no established safety profile in the market, only clinical trials. I take A absent information that A is now somehow bad/useless. Most patients don't specifically question their doctors on medical drugs/information/products in general, and I think you should research anything you put into your body.
  23. Interesting read and they put in some work. It's definitely more a vision statement than anything else, but later they could put together a strategic plan to try and attack specific vision goals as needed, etc.
  24. Now THAT would be a very difficult question to answer as very precise data isn't as easy to come as one might expect, especially on a macro level. This is probably one way to get started but it would require some parsing of different databases I would think. https://www.fda.gov/Drugs/GuidanceComplianceRegulatoryInformation/Surveillance/AdverseDrugEffects/ucm082193.htm This is also too old but one example of SAE rates in clinical trials, some other countries frankly are better at this (more strict protocols for safety) than the United States too. If you look at the one graph with specifically vaccines it appears the expected SAE rate is very good for by expectation medical trials. Whether you think a 3% rate or the expected norm of a 10% SAE rate being reasonable in that specific example is not for me to say of course. http://www.appliedclinicaltrialsonline.com/sae-rates-clinical-trials
  25. I'm kind of with you on this, but I would add that it matters to me a little in that you may have another situation down the road with another person that I feel more sympathetic towards being denied this right.
