  1. First of all, a cancer patient - depending on the medical facts/situation - most likely has a different time/risk factor versus a healthy child taking vaccines so the decision would be a very different set of variables and isn't a very meaningful comparison/argument. Number two, it has been shown time and time again that "rigorous trials" on numerous medical products are often unable to provide a reliable safety profile without some time in the market. Hot dogs and choking accidents are irrelevant as a comparison to the decision being considered with those specific facts/variables. Same with slipping in bathtubs, getting hit by lightning, etc. I don't worry about emboldening anyone else, it's my children and there are always alternative vaccines that have been on the market for years that are just fine that have a more proven track record. If I am concerned with herd immunity in a neighborhood, I would just leave.
  2. The only thing that might give me pause is having my children take a product that is brand new to the market.
  3. KD is right to complain (especially Strauss he's a hack) but I think he gets it kind of bad because the press knows he's sensitive and they even want the "news" of KD blowing up. They know if they keep pushing him he can't take it and just ignore it after a while like some other NBA players.
  4. I like it as it frees up 25 million minus Jackson's 3.2 for next year, but I don't remember a trade being announced while the player was maybe in the game before.
  5. I've met her over a half dozen times personally mostly at charity golf tournaments and at military functions/ base courses and lots of people from Hawaii can share stories about her. She is VERY ambitious and even over ten years ago many assumed she would win U.S. House or Senate, then run for President to try and get a VP slot and then move up from there. Her father Mike is a state Senator who famously had a non-profit that was pretty much anti-gay along with the push for a traditional marriage constitutional amendment but he's more recently been very influential in banning certain chemicals/pesticides in environmental legislation including a very big law on specific things in sunscreens (a big deal in Hawaii). A Democrat with military experience is a very strong candidate for Hawaii which is very liberal with certain governmental policies but also has blends of social conservatism, religious support and military support much more than say a typical liberal bastion in Massachusetts.
  6. Yeah. I think you nailed it.
  7. That list is definitely my top 9 as well in a different order here and there, and I'd have Shaq tenth. I think KD will end up kind of close but not in the Top ten (11-15) and I think Curry could crack the Top 15 or so. My Mount Rushmore four would be MJ, LeBron, Kareem, and Russell.
  8. I'm a Mavs homer to the end but I agree with you too.
  9. Oh that's insulting, there is a difference between a lowball offer and a non-serious one. I think that is the latter. You need to open with three young assets and one FRP with the realization you probably have to give up a little bit above that to have a chance.
  10. Having tried it, I think the controls are better than Destiny and the verticality is pretty good, but overall it feels like another looter shooter and not so much a typical Bioware game, which of course they have been clear about for a while. Either you like this kind of game or you don't, and I like this kind of game for a bit as the novelty of the world/mechanics are new, but it can't last forever as too much grinding burns me out and I usually move on to something else at some point. If they nail a great story which makes the world more immersive, it might have more lasting power for me.
  11. Guys like KP don't come around often. There is some risk to the Mavs if KP truly stays, but you take that risk if you are confident in your organization and culture. I think Doncic obviously would be the major factor to helping KP stay long-term. It looks at first glance like a really bad trade for the Knicks, but they really didn't have any real leverage to keep KP and then you add the injury on top of it, so the trade value was lower than one might think for his talent. Surely they will go for KD/Kyrie/AD but Dolan hasn't exactly endeared himself to most NBA players as a great owner so it should be an interesting summer...again. (but Fizdale I think helps)
  12. I brought this up once before, but I still wonder if these studies are carefully considering 1) full-time and part-time worker changes and 2) benefit costs as part of overall payroll expenses for companies versus just looking at job slots/hours only because I still am seeing now more than once (although you can't really pull this off easily with some types of jobs) companies that have adjusted with almost the exact same total hours overall in their workforce, but they now have more overall workers at part-time versus full-time to offset the wage increases with lower benefit costs. So on paper you would see that company with basically no real change in hours worked but deeper down in the details you would see less FT employees overall.
  13. I think Warren intellectually - especially in debates - would eviscerate Trump but I have doubts she is dynamic enough to have the charisma and messaging to inspire people emotionally like a few other candidates might in 2020. I personally in my mind anyway can watch Beto or Kamala for only two minutes and instantly in my gut feel they just have the type of energy and passion to drive real emotion out of people even though their actual messaging might not be as in depth or intelligent as Warren. It's not just an age thing either because I think Bernie Sanders also has that in a way Hillary did not in 2016 although Hillary obviously still won the nomination so charisma is not everything. Trump partially won in my mind because he can draw real emotion out of people and that drives turnout, energy, and I think it's more important than real substance in some ways which says a lot about America. When you compared him to say the very intelligent but not charismatic Jeb Bush or the too robotic Rubio, it's not shocking to me that Trump won. I thought that was a major flaw with Romney too. Truth be told also is that Warren would be over 70 running for President, and I think that's a negative too. I think Warren has a winner in trying to promote her anti-billionaire crusade but if she gets painted as a one trick pony only identified with that issue, that might be bad for her. If she makes it to the general election, I think she could bring up more of her Oklahoma middle class childhood and that she was a Republican in the past to appeal to independents. She badly would need a young VP candidate that could shore up her weaknesses, and for this Beto might be a strong candidate and it likely makes Republicans have to devote some energy and money to protect Texas. I rarely care much about debates but would really enjoy seeing her on Trump one on one.
  14. I would be shocked also if NO cooperates with the Lakers right now. Consider the football team and what just happened and what team just beat them and where some of the refs are from supposedly. The owner of the Saints is the same as the Pelicans, and how could they sell to that city another beatdown like that without a surefire star coming back from LA which can't happen with their current roster?
  15. I think he just wants a max deal from Golden State.
  16. I think NO would be nuts to trade him so soon as I think the market won't depress at all this summer but you never know I suppose. I'm not as high on Tatum and Brown as many are, but they certainly are a good foundation for a Boston trade offer. If I'm New Orleans I would rather have the # 1 pick in the draft over any other young player in the league right now that is a likely trade candidate. The only way the market depresses this summer much is if Anthony Davis says outright that he won't sign anywhere but LA and even that might not depress his value that much. The Lakers need to offer everything they can now and hope NO bites, and that means basically everyone on the roster being available. The Lakers could never do this of course, but I'd move even LeBron for Davis given their ages. If I'm New Orleans, at minimum I'd want Ball, Hart, Kuzma, Zubac, Bonga, and good picks. I'd also want the Lakers to take on bad salary in return to help rebuild, and that's probably a nonstarter as then the Lakers likely can't add a third star. The Knicks will go all out because they dream of pairing him with Kyrie and feel they could get him to sign if AD is on their roster.
  17. This might be a very chaotic situation and a lot depends on what Paul/AD announce publicly versus privately and when. The Knicks and Lakers will be the most aggressive to move now before Boston can be a player but I think the Pelicans would be wise to go much more for lots of picks versus most of their young players. Maybe involve third teams. The most shocking rumor (I don't believe this for a second) I actually heard from someone actually working in the league is that Kyrie wants to go to LA if AD does and Kyrie reaching out to LeBron was greatly influenced by AD not LeBron.
  18. Every little bit helps. Mater Dei is football royalty, and Westlake (definitely parallels with our own Westlake in Austin obviously) is one of the top high schools in the state and it's a Valley school. Mayfair (Adimora's school) is no slouch with some of their academics, but it's in a very different part of L.A. and having some diversity from the region helps with specific kids that grew up there, etc.
  19. I'm actually a little impressed that a recruit with that much hype doesn't really hype his numerous awards on his profile right away. Plus the team award.
  20. Awesome. I've actually gotten along pretty well with LSU fans compared to other SEC schools. This should be a fun series.
  21. Underrated issue. Plus, you'd have to build the wall in back of the river (the US side) presumably so how are they going to manage this resource for landowners that rely on it?
  22. I think you will be ok but of course you never know in a single game elimination tourney. I actually think Barnes has improved as a coach since his time at Texas.
  23. Yeah, that was fun. Steph now is basically up to 3rd in most MVP professional odds behind 1) Harden and 2) Giannis and if I was voting today, I'd go those three in that exact order right now too but the top two are still way ahead for me as of now.
