  1. ...painful loss...we just don't have enough talent to overcome our poor strategies. Our talent will rise up at times and win games, but we can also lose to literally anybody on a given night too.
  2. I'm with you here a lot even though I think Wilt is easily a Top 10 player of all-time, but probably not in my Top 3-4. I think it is very difficult to compare eras so easily, but one thing you can try and do is compare amongst peers, and I have hard time having him so easily over Russell as it's very debatable to me either way depending on what one believes is most important in defining greatness and/or "better" in one's eyes. I have no problem saying that in my opinion MJ is the best of his era and LeBron of this era, but much harder with me for Wilt/Russell.
  3. Totally agree logically but in 20 years casual fans will not even consider this much at all but more observant NBA people (by far a much much smaller minority) will understand this fact.
  4. Wow Nevada losing big and then Kansas too in a milder surprise to me.
  5. If the offensive line was better, I'd believe they can win it all as this is a really good team. I think they have this game today as my confidence in Watson in big games is exceptionally high.
  6. Celtics are just hot and shooting a lot of 3s and I think they are probably at 40% or so. Just one of those nights...Boston has better talent so if they play well it's a tough ask on the road for a young team.
  7. The hope in my mind long-term is when Alabama is visiting us in 2022, we will be a program that is ready to fight them with fairly equal talent across the board. Build towards that type of consistency over the next few years as 4-5 straight recruiting classes start to cycle some depth all around.
  8. Texas has not yet learned how to play strong after gaining a decent lead. They also have at times played down to their competition a little too much. I have mild concerns about the trenches and maybe depth at a few positions, but with a healthy Sam and generally good health, I think this will be a pretty good team. I would say Top 10 should be a very realistic goal, and getting a playoff slot would likely take a little luck in avoiding a bad loss and/or winning a game that should have been lost but for some breaks.
  9. That's a big loss for the aggies, I am most happy so far about Brown at OU leaving, he is just so disruptive for defensive game planning.
  10. I think the skill demands of an average NBA player just to run their normal sets now are higher than they were a generation ago, especially at a position like center. I am confident the top players of any era being born today would fare just fine as naturally their skills/development would match this era more closely, but I think average player in the NBA now is much better than the average player a generation ago.
  11. That KD out of bounds missed call would be all anyone was talking about if Harden missed. The NBA should consider itself lucky to have dodged a small bullet versus this happening for example with these same teams in Game 7 of the WCF. They can't miss a call like that in a seven game series this summer. They just can't allow that to happen and need to have a proactive solution to avoid this scenario.
  12. It took about a week longer or so than I expected. Shocker. Such a talented team, but I have some skepticism on their playoff prospects this year, especially if they run into Boston.
  13. I had Giannis basically all season as the MVP so far, but I definitely right now have changed my thoughts, it's Harden right now for me. Wow.
  14. Harden. Is. Not. Human. Wow. He's carrying so much load right now and just straight up dominating. Very impressed, and the refs tonight are probably relived because that missed OB call was really horrific at a bad time. Great game overall.
  15. Examples like Watson and Anderson are huge for the program going forward as you can see the instant impact and fantastic experience that is possible for future grad recruits at Texas. Great way to upgrade for a year especially when you have promising young players on the depth chart that maybe are not quite ready for another year.
  16. Doncic and Derrick Rose second! Wow. They are both playing well, but surprising to see Doncic ahead of Durant/AD and Rose ahead Harden/Westbrook.
  17. Maybe unpopular opinion, but I think Colin can improve his draft stock more than LJH by coming back as LJH's main concern is probably top end speed and he can't really improve on that as much as Colin can improve on his perceived NFL weaknesses. I still hope LJH comes back though as he could be an incredibly dominant WR next year in college football.
  18. That's a pretty good team. I'd tweak slightly for today's game: PG - Magic Johnson SG - MJ SF - LeBron James PF - Bird (really tough to not include Duncan) C - Kareem (very very tough to not seriously consider Hakeem)
  19. I don't consider it indefensible either, Bird was a spectacular player. If you consider Bird a SF (he would more likely be a PF today) I would easily have him at # 2 behind LeBron. I have Durant at # 3 all-time at that position, and he's a superior scorer to both Bird and LeBron, but Bird's passing (very elite like LeBron) and rebounding were fantastic too and Bird was no slouch at scoring obviously. I wonder how Bird would fare (at least offensively) in today's game.
  20. I am skeptical that Buzz would be a great hire versus maybe just solid to good, but I definitely think he would be better than Shaka.
  21. Let's hear from Zach Smith on this game!
  22. That's how you gamble with intelligence against a strong opponent. Nice.
  23. A nice 7:41 drive with points - even a FG - is ok with me for this drive.
  24. Unless there is something very personal emotionally impacting his life outside of basketball, I fear you are right.
  25. I can see some good coaches out there for sure to hire, but both "big" (I think we would both likely agree on most coaches that meet this criteria) and good is a much smaller list. I am very curious what direction they go but I think they will step it up much like USC should but haven't yet in football.
