  1. The point of the discussion was that you can't assume the second contract. Thats was the point.
  2. Maybe GBIII can go straight to Chicago and bypass his first contract. Whatever he decides, I hope it works out for him. Thanks for the info..
  3. How many of those years was his first contract? If Boston was his second contract, its not promising which I think is the point of this discussion, getting to the second contract. If his second contract was before he signed with Boston, then it probably worked out well for him.
  4. I don't disagree but there are no guarantees of a second contract. I read that Jabari Parker, the number 2 pick in the draft a few years ago just signed his second contract with Boston. Supposedly its for 2 years for I think about 2 million. The article didn't give a specific amount. Instead it said something like if he is still on the team in July he gets 100k. If he does this and that, he gets another amount. It didn't sound too too promising but maybe someone saw a specific number. The Williams kid from Arizona who was also a number 2 pick a couple of years earlier was on 5 different teams in 5 years and his second contract was a 10 day contract with Cleveland. Hopefully he signed another one that was better. I agree that you play for a second contract but how you play during your first contract determines a second one. You're right about GB and I hope it works out for him.
  5. Brown needs to come back and develop a game. If he does that and becomes a high draft pick, his contract should make up for the difference from what he would get coming out now if the info that he will be drafted in the second half of the first round is accurate. Also the NBA is full of great athletes but there is no guarantee of a second contract. You want to contribute as quickly as is possible. The G league is certainly an option but starting in the league and staying there is a better one. I hope the young man sees that. Assuming that I am correct in my assessment.
  6. Welcome to the family. Work hard, study hard and play hard and you will have a foundation for a great life.
  7. No problem, we can go over to the Night Hawk Restaurant on the drag instead.
  8. Congrats to a great Longhorn. Get back to Austin as quickly as possible. Hope to see you in August. Best wishes.
  9. Thats going to be tough unless they can get out of the TCU game to schedule a game in Ft Worth..
  10. Thats incredibly weak. I am all for objectivity. There's nothing wrong with that. That was my point. Give the kids a chance to prove if everyone is right or wrong about them. And, I hope that you make it to my age.
  11. I knew that when I posted, your sorry ass would appear in minutes. I am living rent free in your head but there is plenty of space because there isn't anything in there. That game was how long ago? 3.4.5 years ago? I was asked what I thought about that move. I responded and it turned out it was something else. But I realize how desperate you are for a moral victory so congrats. Maybe someone will throw you a parade.
  12. Did you know that the all time assists per game leader for the San Antonio Spurs for a point guard that played at least 200 hundred games had an offer sheet of Providence College before the Big East and the University of Indiana AT Pennsylvania because his brother went there before we offered him. He would have been a 2 star at best. There are kids that everyone wants that never do much and there are kids under the radar that turn out to be amazing additions to their team. Just let them make it campus before writing them off. If they sit at the end of the bench for their entire career, then everyone was right, If they turn out to be major contributors, good for them.
  13. How do you know that those kids were horrible before they even stepped on campus?
  14. That mindless idiot is a big reason why college basketball is as popular as it is today. I understand young people thinking like you do but once upon a time, the hoops landscape was much different.
  15. Welcome to the Longhorn Basketball Family. Study hard. Work hard and life can be wonderful for you and your family.
  16. Correct and not only did some teams get a bye in the first round but some played a game on their home court.
  17. at gregory I and my friend were asked to please be quiet as he was trying to study. we redoubled our volume. sheesh. In fairness to him, there were a couple of games where he was probably good to study. lol
  18. Congrats to the Bears. They have come a long way from the old SWC days playing at the HOT. Great job.
  19. Wally, I met John Wooden I believe at the first game that was played at the Drum. Gregory was sort of a 2 edged sword. We had one game when the paid attendance was 17. Thats right. 17. Wasn't even enough for meal money. Granted the weather was horrible but damn. But when some of those SWC teams and the dirt burglars came to town, that place was packed and the fans were incredible. The best part was that the fans were right on the court literally. When I sat on the bench, my shoes were physically on the court line and I had size 11 shoes.. There were bleachers on the stage when the fans were going crazy, especially during a timeout, the band was blaring and you couldn't hear a word the coaches were saying. One of our best fans was a guy named Marty I think. He would always sit on the first row straddling the half court line and was constantly letting the refs hear it. He was hysterical and I have to believe that the refs would privately tell you that they also thought he was great. I don't know how big Moody is going to be but I hope the fans will be close to the court. Its not the number of fans at a game but the configuration of the gym.
  20. Abe also had sellouts. And we had sellouts at Gregory when the aggy, pigs, dirt burglars and other teams came to town. The crowds were amazing at those games.
