  1. Maybe you need a reminder of where you stand in order of the U of Texas basketball program. KD,TJ,PJ and 500 Basketball lettermen>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>greggym>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>a gazzilion light years>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>little derka. You are absolutely no one special. Only you think you are. You're not a member of the T Association, a former letterman and you don't get invited to former lettermen reunions.. And you are different than those kids you mentioned because their Dads were part of the Texas Basketball Team and Family and you're not. Big deal, you know some former players. You have no clue what it like to bust your ass every day in practice. You have no clue of the sacrifices that we made. You have no idea what its like to lose a hard fought game at the buzzer. You have no idea what its like to be on the team bus heading to the game and you're lost in your thoughts. You have no idea what its like to get final instructions in the locker room moments before the game, in the huddle during a game or after the game. You have no idea what its like sitting at an airport waiting to go back to Austin after a hard fought loss, getting back to Austin at 230 AM after a 4 hour bus ride and you have to be at class in less than 6 hours. You have no idea what its like to have to study for finals on the road 2 days before you have to take one.You have no idea what its like to be the only 13 students on campus during Christmas break. You have no idea what its like to take a 6 hour plane flight and 30 minutes after landing back in Austin, you're taking a mid term final for 40% of your grade. You have no idea what its like to have to be at the gym for an early Sunday morning practice. You have no idea what its like to bust you're ass in practice, go eat dinner than have to study 3-4 hours just to keep up with the rest of the class. You have no idea what its like to be a conference champion and the hard work and dedication it takes to accomplish that and you have no idea what it takes to be a teammate. And I haven't even started. Get over yourself. You're the only one that thinks that you're important. And btw, I knew Coach Barnes a lot better than you.
  2. If you are a student, alum or fan of the University of Texas, you root for Texas first. If you prefer to root for another coach, go to their board and do so.
  3. But he was old enough to see Herman and non power 5 school UH beat the crap out of Jimbo and the mighty FSU tomahawks. Its great to be under Kate!
  4. Maybe they should focus on becoming relevant on the field for the first time in 20 years and worry less about meaningless recruiting stats.
  5. Your roundtable doesn't work because you're stacking the deck. Ask some of the players who didn't like Barnes for their opinions. What you have yet to understand is that everyone besides you is allowed to have an opinion and if it differs from you, that doesn't make you right and them wrong.
  6. I always wish our former coaches the best.
  7. I need to find one of those. My little rescue turns 13 this year and I need to get her ready for her Bark Mitzvah.
  8. And don't you forget...G-D chose me. He didn't choose you so you better be nice to me. Or...
  9. Unfortunately for you, I am the one who decides who gets into our tribe. The good news is that I can be bribed.
  10. When he swung his elbows, they were well above my head.
  11. The Chief
  12. I agree but there is one difference. He doesn't have the Alabama defense behind him. At Bama, he knew that the opposing team probably wouldn't get to 20 points. Now its a different ballgame and he may be faced with more pressure situations than he's used to.
  13. Best post ever!!!!
  14. I love this but I am more of an Earth Wind and Fire guy so get to work.
  15. I like this. Are you the Indian, er, Native American or the Police Officer?.
  16. Correct. I try to show a little bit of courtesy to the recruits and players. I also say Coach Smart and Coach Barnes almost always. It is my thing and its no big deal.
  17. Thanks for making my point. You think that the number of reps someone has actually means anything. Most of the time, it doesn't.
  18. Wrong, the difference is that I have an understanding of recruiting and you're a fucking idiot. You have no clue about this young man other than what is regurgitated on this board. You have no clue about recruiting other than what you read here. You're fooling yourself into thinking that you know far more than you actually do.
  19. Let's cut this young man some slack. 99% of posters here have no idea what its like to be recruited. Coaches who are for the most part good salesmen are trying to convince a 17 year old that he needs to come to their school. This young man like most recruits is being pulled in many different ways. Some may care about the young man and some may not. Maybe this young man has some character issues. So did every one of us when we were 17. We have kids in college that screw up. Maybe he doesn't have a solid support system at home like most of us did. This young man could turn out to be a lottery pick or could be a bench warmer for his entire career. No one knows until he has a chance to prove himself. If he comes to Texas great. If he choses another school wish him well.
  20. You're right. My bad.
  21. You don't know that and probably neither does anyone else. This is a young man who is 17 and being pulled in different directions by grown ups. Maybe he doesn't have a good support system like many kids so. Maybe his school doesn't have great resources to give him extra academic support like many schools do. We have had kids suspended. Are they flakes? You have had kids in college and the pros that have committed crimes. Is this kid that bad. Why is he a drama queen. Because he hasn't picked our school yet? Some kids honestly don't know what to do. This may be the young man's first major life decision and all of this is new to him. Why don't we give this young man a chance. Regardless of where he goes, lets see if college works. Lets see what he does when he has a support system. Lets see what happens when he has academic support and lets see what happens when he is around teammates and coaches that will give him a hug when appropriate and will kick his ass when he needs it. Having said that, if you or anyone else actually knows the young man well, I will defer to you.
  22. I disagree. Maybe the family hasn't been interested in college football until their son started getting recruited. Now its a new situation to them.
  23. Mac, for those of us on the computer, anywhere we can go? Thanks.
