Walker did not need to do that. Brutal. Kane off? That’s weird in a game that has a high probability of going to pens.

  3. I kept looking for a premiere date and glad it’s so soon. I’ve read a few books ahead, so pretty pumped. Spook Street (this season) is great. Gotta get enough seasons in before the main cast members get bored.

Love Kane penalties. No dancing, he just runs up and smashes it. Respect to the goalie if you can reach those.
  5. Ok, I have to ask. How did an 11 year old in the year of our Lord 2024 get interested in Encino Man? Is there a Pauly Shore comeback I wasn’t aware of?
  6. Had nothing to watch the other night so popped on The Nice Guys again. What a fun movie. Crowe and Gosling are great and it’s so well written. I really wish it would have done better so Shane Black would get more shots like this.

What year was this in the A&M yearbook? 1986?
  8. I do find it funny the instead of a Tesla, he is looking at a VW. You know, the original and literal Nazi car.
  9. “And if a former president’s official acts are routinely subjected to scrutiny in criminal prosecutions, “the independence of the executive branch” may be significantly undermined.” I’m sorry. Didn’t they just destroy the independence of the executive branch? Or is the Executive Branch just the President now?
  10. I haven't gotten into Season 3 yet, but I have been rewatching 2. The Fishes/Forks duo, as well as the finale have been discussed to death (deservedly so), but the two in between are really good too ("I wear suits now"). I had forgotten how much goes on in those and how well it brings us down and sets the stage for the finale. Just really top notch writing and season building.
  11. https://www.history.com/news/why-the-star-spangled-banner-is-played-at-sporting-events Apparently WWI. I've stopped being into that too since it's just performative nonsense to me. I'll go through the motions, but I prefer to be somewhere else (bathroom, walking the concourse, etc) when it's being sung. I just find it strange. Why not do it before movies? Plays? They do it before my 7 year old's swim meets for some reason. They have cute kids do it, so I guess it's a performance for them, but I don't need to perform as well. I actually just asked my 7 year old about the pledge of allegiance and she had no idea what I was talking about. She goes to an Episcopal school, so depending on your views, that can have its' own cult aspects. I have been pleased with signs that they use a very progressive and welcoming version of Christianity. Interesting variation on the usual Church vs State argument though.
  12. We should just trash the whole pledge of allegiance. Looking back, that’s some creepy, cult shit.
  13. I saw it in theaters a bit back and enjoyed it. Nothing fancy, just a fun movie. Dudes rock. It didn’t do great here, but I hoped it did well enough in the UK to be a success. I saw it had $0 and apparently Amazon had rights in the UK, so no box office there. Sucks that they didn’t put it in theaters. Hopefully Amazon paid up big to offset it.
  14. We were all in the car yesterday and my 4 year old said, “Mommy, I just saw one of those ugly cars”. He meant the CyberTruck. Raising them right in this house.

David Simon: a legend, forever and always
  16. I don’t think the Fincher one tanked. I just looked and it had a $90m budget and made $102m in US and $232m worldwide. For a 2.5 hour pitch black movie, that’s really good. I imagine Fincher wasn’t interested and they couldn’t pull it together like someone said earlier.
  17. Who the hell were they bidding against?
  18. DeNiro and him sparring. Doesn’t get much better. Then William Baldwin just wasting everyone’s time.

  20. I know I have mentioned this movie on this thread before. It's one of my favorite "fuck it, nothing is on, I'll just watch this" movie. The diner scene and the hotel room scene are so great (for very different reasons).
  21. Ask a pro-lifer if they want to raise taxes to be sure every child has enough food. It’s pro-birth, not pro-life.
  22. What is going on with Macron? Some snap election? Seems bad?
  23. So, when are we just straight up allowed to own rocket launchers?
  24. I don’t know why people insist on fucking up good things. It’s exhausting.
  25. I'm dubious but hopeful. If Sony puts in money where it is needed and stays out of the way, could be good. Big companies aren't known for that though. Best case is probably that it's such a small part of their film business that no one really pays attention to it and it can just do its' thing.
