  1. The finale last night was great.  They had a lot to cover and they did a great job.  They changed some of the pieces around at the end from the book, but got to the same place.   Still one of the better series on TV and very reliably so.

One thing I wish they did from the book was :

    Spoiler

In the show, they just made Harkness's crew out to be a mindless kill squad.  In the book, they are funded by MI:5 (hence the Cartwright connection and how they had the dead body ID's) and are used to test the reaction to terrorist attacks.  So, for instance, they would put something in the drinking water of a town that wasn't poisonous but noticeable and see if they could do it and what the reaction would be.  Of course, they started getting insubordinate and the government stopped funding them.  The payment to get River's mom out was the last payment and negotiation.  The Westacres bombing happened when one of the crew broke and took a test and made it real.

Not a huge deal, but I just thought it would have made the makeup of the group more interesting than just "bad guys".

  2. It’s my wife and I’s 10th anniversary and we had planned a trip to London. We had to cancel early this week for health reasons but snagged a bungalow at Hotel Saint Cecelia for the weekend. We’d rather be in London but it’s been great.

We had drinks at Garage (I love this place) and dinner at Pecan St Cafe on Friday. We went to our daughter’s soccer game Sat morning (I’m the coach) and then hung at the hotel all afternoon before Mattie’s for dinner last night.

It’s remarkable how St Cecilia and Mattie’s are in the middle of town and still feel miles away. Both are very special places.

  3. As an Aubrey Plaza enthusiast, I went and saw My Old Ass.  It was really good.  She's not in it much, but Maisy Stella was fantastic.  She's a great screen presence and I hope she acts more, as I think she's a singer that has just been on Nashville.  She's got a few things lined up, so hope it works out.  Due to personal matters, it was really affecting for me.  I was crying like a baby by the end.  It probably won't be as affective on you guys, but it's still a great story about growing up and looking forward to the adventure of adulthood, wherever it takes you.

Saw Almost Famous (2000) for the first time after hearing it was great and a cult classic to watch for many, many years.

    It was pretty cool.

My favorite movie.  I thought it was fine when I first saw it, but it is one of the most rewatchable movies ever.  It gets better with time.  So many great scenes.

  4. Harris hit Trump with his own game, the handshake crush. Same thing Macron did to him, but this time, it was by a woman. That's why he was so rattled right out of the gate. Fucking hilarious and brilliant all at the same time.

Still shots show it a little more clearly.
