  1. When Anna Hall came on during the opening ceremonies, my wife just said “ I don’t even understand that bone structure.” That gave me some leeway to gawk at her and her sister. My love for Sydney was established 3 years ago so we already had an understanding there.
  2. How involved was Lyles in the practices? Maybe his drop out effected things too.
  3. That was nasty. That look over was great.
  4. Rebound. Christ.
  5. Can you explain to us what repachage means? Obviously, I know that it means but for the other idiots on here.
  6. Is it just me, or has Snoop's schtick run its' course?
  7. I came in late to the broadcast on Saturday and honestly wondered if he was on the team or a Make-A-Wish kid celebrating with the team. Legend.
  8. I figure we can do indoor and beach in here, but feel free to split if needed. The background of the Beach Volleyball court is incredible. Paris doing it right so far. Looking forward to seeing what Chase Buddinger can do in beach and the tight shorts in women’s indoor.
  9. Ha, this was me. When I was in my late 20’s, my mom called me randomly and she was laughing. She said, “do you remember why I wouldn’t let you watch the Simpsons? This show is hilarious.” Next Christmas, she bought me seasons 1 and 2 on DVD. Too late, mom.
  10. That’s Lee Corso on the left side of couch behind him.
  11. I may have been overstating the "REALLY" there, but the use of "faggots" and "dyke" stood out. It was actually played pretty progressively for the time, though. They poked fun but nothing about homosexuality being wrong or any of that nonsense.
  12. I went on a bit of a tear last week: Slap Shot - Regrettably the first time I had seen it, even though I heard about it for years. Some of it REALLY doesn't age well, but still a lot of fun. The Hansons were obviously the best part, but overall really enjoyed the rest too. Paul Newman was just a king. Miller's Crossing - Saw this year's ago and kind of shrugged my shoulders, but it felt like it was more of a me thing. I went to Alamo Village to see it and it was a me thing. This movie was so good and had that Cohen brother thing where they inject enough silliness to lighten a dark drama and make it fun. Gabrielle Byrne held up as the focus (he should have had a better career) and Turturro was perfect as usual. I like Marcia Gay Harden, but she was miscast here. Otherwise, wonderful. Sabotage - I am starting a project to watch all of the Hitchcock films (over 7.0 on IMDB) and this was the first. It was pretty slow and boring for the most part as it had that old school pacing. Not much really happened, but it was early in his career. That said, you could see a lot of places where he was being innovative and working out his style. Not a great movie, but a good example of a filmmaker figuring it out. I did chuckle when I saw the scene when the boy tries to bring film onto a streetcar as it is the scene Tarantino cut into Inglorious Bastards to explain how film is very flammable. I had no idea what it was from previously. Maxxxine - I really enjoyed the first 2/3's, but the end fell flat for me. The identity of the killer wasn't the issue, I just felt the presentation and resolution was cheesy. Still worth seeing, but disappointed in the end. PAW Patrol Movie - Kids choice for Family Movie Night. I don't want to talk about it. The Third Man - Went to the Paramount on Saturday for this screening. I hadn't seen it in awhile straight through and never in a theater. Stone cold classic. I had forgotten (and the crowd helped here) how funny it is at times. And of course it has one of the best character reveals in film history. The one complaint is that the sewer scene does drag too long. A+ though and great to see at the Paramount. Inside Out 2 - Finally got to take the family to this over the weekend. Not up to the original, but it was still really good. My 7 year old daughter probably didn't totally get it yet, but it was definitely a good message about all of the parts of us that make us who we are. Rebecca - #2 on the Hitchcock rewatch. This one was really good and Hitchcock was getting better for sure. It still has some old school pacing and sexual politics, but getting past those, it is clear why it won Best Picture. Laurence Olivier was terrific and the twists and turns all made sense and kept it really engaging. I feel like this gets lost in the Hitchcock canon as his best comes later, but it's really worth a look. The Lady Vanishes - #3 rewatch. This was one I knew nothing about, but really enjoyed. It was actually really funny throughout (Michael Redgrave was really great) and the twists and turns were fun. They did a great job building all of the characters early to make you like and root for them when things get crazy. Again, you could see him adding some innovations in the filmmaking. Not essential Hitchcock, but a fun 100 minute mystery from a master.
  13. Rep for the Shoresy crossover reference.
  14. Still done but that was a cool putt.
  15. Our old nanny called us on Wednesday to tell us that she was in the hospital with AML leukemia, which is the exact thing I have been fighting for 2 years. It’s really crazy. She was our nanny 2 years ago when I was first diagnosed and treated. She is 31/32, so she’s young and in good shape. No other morbidities that I am aware of and she got down to MDA today. So, hopefully she’s in a good spot but super sad. Her brother committed suicide about 3 months ago, so her parents are still shell shocked from that. She is still in total shock and denial. My wife and I have told her the same thing about being in the hospital and not being able to leave for a month like 4 times and she just does not hear us. She keeps asking us when she can go home and tried to check into a hotel tonight before being turned away. They honestly may need to sedate her over the next month to get through it.
  16. What’s he going to do? Attack the bad guys with his beard lice?
  17. I'm not a dance pop person, but this one gets me going:

    Euro 2024

    What was Stones doing there?
  19. It’s not that I don’t want to watch it. Finding time is tough these days with work (me and wife) and two kids (4 and 7). I happened to have the flu, so I was able to sit in a bedroom and knock out 3 shorts seasons. 12 short seasons when things are normal is a bit more of a task.
  20. I watched this over the last week and really enjoyed it. Funny throughout and got emotional at times. The characters were all distinct and interesting. I want to watch Letterkenny but that episode count is daunting. Scattershot thoughts: - The constant tear downs and insults had an incredibly high hit rate. Top notch writing. - I loved the little ridiculous concepts they threw in there like Sudbury having just straight 10's all over town. So funny - Any scene in Nat's office was a must watch. Same 5 characters and always entertaining. Someone asked earlier and the answer is Miig - The Jims were fucking beauties. I sat up in my chair each time it was coming around to Jim 3 - The only repetitive joke and set up that didn't work for me was JJ Frankie JJ. It was fine, but a ton of time was spent on all of his exes and it was diminishing returns - Jory Jordan is a king. - Shorsey saying "Huh?" a second after asking a question got me every time. I hope that was unscripted and he would just throw it in to throw people off randomly. I did it to my wife like twice and she shut it down real quick. Highly recommended if anyone is considering it.
  21. This always seemed real stupid. You need to give people time to watch at home before releasing part 2. This is not even a paradigm shift with less people going to the theater, this just seems like common sense in any era. I assume part 3 and 4 aren’t filming any time soon.
