  1. Also, buying backups for a $50 shelf bottle? And people wonder how bourbon became so allocated.
  2. The oxidization argument is horse shit. There is no reasonable timeline where it goes bad.
  3. That bottle is delicious. Full stop.
  4. So we should buy BTAC bottles at MSRP? Super hot takes here, gents. [emoji849]
  5. I concur. The Total by my house went ten deep on that bottle. I picked up the one so as not to be a hypocrite. But it’s really excellent.
  6. That’s what nobody likes. I love it on the front of the palate but the finish just feels out of place. I’m probably going to try to flip our open bottle for…..something. Anything.
  7. What’s the feeling on Irish whiskey around here? Our group picked up a Redbreast 27 and can’t stand it, but I’ve had a couple of the Spots that are great and the Redbreast Kentucky Oak was a great pour too.
  8. I don’t hate secondary groups. They serve a purpose and I’ve been involved on both sides of several transactions, though I’ve only used it once in the last year. I’m increasingly confounded by people that hoard whiskey to the point of owning more than they are likely to drink in their lifetime. It only contributes to the problem. I don’t own a backup of a single bottle in my collection. And I’m downright over the culture of posting pictures as some sort of dick measuring contest. Yes, I’ve posted some pics on this thread. No, I don’t plan to do it any more. We all know what these bottles look like at this point. I’m here for the dialogue on what’s good and what’s not, but I couldn’t be less interested in looking at pictures of other people’s bottles.
  9. Sigh.
  10. This guy fucking gets it.
  11. I don’t know that you’re going to find a pure play bourbon that you like just based on what you shared about your preferred profile. If you could find a High West campfire…..maybe? Honestly, just avoid bourbon. It’s become something of a pain in the ass over the last several years. The awesome thing about loving Scotch is that it’s highly available.
  12. I have learned I primarily like HH wheaters. Larceny Barrel Proof and Old Fitz have always agreed with my pallet. I haven’t dabbled with any of the EW, and would probably start with a pour before chasing down a bottle.
  13. That’s sweet that you’re sending us positive thoughts. You know it won’t help one bit though. And however you and Bill feel about Booker’s is exactly the way I feel about any EC product. I’ve had several and I’ve never found one I wanted another pour of.
  14. Havertz had three gilt edged chances and converted one. Happy with any W these days, but that shouldn’t have anywhere near as nervy at the end as it ended up being.
  15. I mean I feel like if you think it’s $130 good then charging $160 isn’t wildly out of line. I’d prefer that prices tick up to curb secondary shenanigans, but that’s just me.
  16. Not I. A buddy of mine went in to hunt and found a Shenks, but I don’t know the guy that got the Willet or the RR13.
  17. https://www.breakingbourbon.com/review/bardstown-bourbon-company-west-virginia-great-barrel-co I knew I wasn’t crazy…
  18. What's the over/under on games played here? 4.5? I'll be rooting like hell for the over, as he would be step function improvement to our play in the back end of our defense.
  19. Their Origin products should hit TX in the coming weeks, and those are all priced in the $50 range. I’m looking forward to trying expressions that are 100% Bardstown distillate.
  20. Not particularly. Weller Full Proof is sorta in the ballpark, and runs $250-$350 secondary.
  21. Yep. And I have zero qualms recommending it at that price point.
  22. Anyone here tried the Bardstown x West Virginia Barrel company collab? It’s a blend of MGP and Canadian ryes finished in infrared toasted barrels. It’s probably one of the best Bardstown collabs I have had in the last 3 years, if not ever. It’s flying under the radar, but it’s a head turner.
  23. Maybe one day people will stop assuming that a program’s historical prestige is the sole factor in the attractiveness of any given HC job. Program prestige isn’t unimportant, but Maslow’s hierarchy of needs tells us that prestige alone isn’t the end all be all for a lot of coaches.
  24. I could not disagree more. As I've tasted more and more things, Booker's only gets elevated in my mind. I've got no problem paying $90-$100 for the good batches. I had the 2022-03 on NYE and was a big fan.
