  1. That's a good option to pick up this late:
  2. This is a start to answering that:
  3. Honestly, seems like an untapped 9.95 venture on their parts. Just imagine the uncut Surlyesque shit that continuously flows out of that group text.
  4. Yeah, honestly the biggest potential issue is an injury to Tinney. But that was the case before the draft, too.
  5. Yeah, Duplantier can play OF. However, his primary position is 2B. He seems like a great team guy and is obviously a threat once he gets on base. But, the main issue with Jayden is he doesn't really play "hitter." The guy gets on base though. A +.182 swing between his AVG and OB% suggests that if he could just bat .240, he'd be an offensive boost. If he'd be our worst guy in terms of AVG, but have an OB% of .400+, that'd be great. Nevertheless, I hope we don't have to find out because there's a more proven option. I really hope Texas can get Freeman or Moroknek to not sign. We have a lot of INF experience, but I figure the odd man out will naturally DH. One of Borba or Rodriquez could play a corner OF spot, if needed, but that doesn't help when the sixth guy is Duplantier.
  6. Also, looking back at the 2024 class, only three! (Flores, Volantis, and Rodriguez) of the 17 players we signed are still on campus. That's absolutely wild. Granted, Williams came in early, but he's actually class of 2025, and four signed in last year's draft. Even accounting for those moves, four of 14 seems low. I guess that's modern college baseball; especially with the 34-man limit going forward.
  7. Are you referencing the post you quoted, or other chatter? Because, assuming Freeman and Moroknek sign, Williams is the second-most productive (and most at Texas) OF on the roster... Robbins seems to be legit, Peterson is older, but hasn't contributed, and then there are three freshmen. Otherwise, with those 37 guys, we're an injury to Tinney, Robbins, or Williams away from being in a very difficult spot. Pack (32 overall, 5th OF), Monsour (229), and Monsour (242) are all highly-rated though.
  8. Hold up, Sydney actually played baseball at Baylor?
  9. I don't agree with this. Texas did not recruit Tinney over Galvan. They went and got Tinney because they needed a guy to replace a departing Galvan. They were two of three finalists for the Buster Posey Award, which Bodine (CCU) won. There was no "recruiting over." @Js1, @Hookem2147, and myself are well aware of the state of Texas' current roster. We're merely speculating if this unexpected uncertainty potentially allows for the unforeseen circumstance of Galvan returning to Texas to occur. Nevertheless, I'd imagine we're all on the same page as you that it is unlikely, for a number of reasons. However, Texas doesn't have a qualified backup catcher on the roster after Tinney, which makes a conversation about platooning C/DH for the two more likely given Galvan's fall in the draft.
  10. Yeah, I was referring to the top end of the class that remains after Fien and Cunningham.
  11. I guess there is precedent from football that he could just unenroll and reenroll at a different school. However, I agree that it is most likely that Flores and Galvan just move on.
  12. We are now through the first ten rounds. Spencer, Galvan, and Flores have not been drafted. Of the three, only Spencer is out of eligibility. Flores is not likely back. As said above, maybe Galvan returns? Either way, Texas should be safe as it pertains to their high school class and transfer portal class making it to campus at this point. Can't imagine anyone signs for 150k, or that a team throws huge money from the bonus pole to entice one of the top remaining guys, at this point. Who knows though.
