  1. Nah, man. Miami was his first commitment. That NIL situation blew up/UF offered more and then he committed to UF. Then that NIL situation blew up which led to his enrollment at ASU.
  2. Yeah, I'm going with Golden and Bond. I guess Niblack could be one, but I definitely don't think it's a defensive player.
  3. The Insider: Recruiting Updates (Hank South) Summary: Fasusi deciding on August 21 between Texas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Oregon, and Texas A&M. Current confidence on Texas, "but as we've reported, this is a back-forth battle with Oklahoma. It's hard to gauge exactly how this will end." Brooks deciding between Texas, Georgia, and USC, and will announce either Aug. 23 or Aug. 30 — he hasn't decided yet. "Talking to sources near Texas and elsewhere, the Longhorns keep getting brought up as the trendy pick." "This isn't an either/or situation for Texas. If both Fasusi and Brooks want to come to Austin, both are more than welcome to and Texas would gladly accept their commitments" Lockett is the "sixth highest-ranked wideout to commit to Texas in the modern era, falling only behind B.J. Johnson (2000), Bru McCoy (2019), Mike Davis (2010), Roy Williams (2000) and Marquis Johnson (2002)." Boy, that's a list with wildly different outcomes. Lockett is 6-foot-2-inch, 175-pounds, with a 6-foot-7-inch wingspan
  4. The Insider: How Texas football moves on after CJ Baxter's injury and more Summary: Baxter loss is big, but there are plenty of options. Blue wants to be NFL bound after this year. There are a lot of high expectations for Wisner Gibson is ahead of Clark at this point. "I think Jerrick is going to be like a Roschon Johnson, maybe a little more explosive. I think Christian Clark has some of the similar traits to Bijan Robinson." - Choice Offense looks really good in camp thus far Sorrell's NFL stock is rising Trey Moore is going to be an issue for opposing offenses in obvious passing situations
  5. Damn, has Mike Roach lost a lot of weight? Dude looks completely different.
  6. I'll be surprised if it isn't Texas, but traditional hat theory would say the choice is aggy.
  7. NCAA: "He's a cheater in a multitude of ways and no one is allowed to hire him for the next four seasons without a year-long suspension." Also NCAA: "Here's your title trophy you earned. Congratulations!" Fuck this organization and all the ways they are corrupt and incompetent.
  8. How do you discern this from that update? If the goal is to get the best five DBs on the field, playing Barron at CB does that. However, as CTJ said, maybe the 9.95ers have no idea what they're talking about here.
  9. There are tons of YouTube videos on recruiting well.
  10. Which he probably should do. He has potential, but is super raw. Guys with extreme tools and potential without otherworldly production at the high school level are being deprioritized now in the MLB draft. 10 years ago, he's a first or second rounder. If he's an above-average LHP for the baseball team and a starter on the defensive side of the ball in football, he'll make a shit ton in NIL at Texas. Sure, he'll have to work his ass off, but he would anyways to make it to the big leagues if he turned pro at 18 in baseball.
  11. I don't want the guy to fail. I don't want CU to burn down. It just seems pretty obvious to me that his tactics (which apparently include a lack of program oversight) have inherent faults to building sustainable success. Otherwise, I have no qualms here. It would be great (to me) for Deion to prove everyone wrong. However, it just seems like we've seen this movie before; and the ending doesn't match the promise of the start.
  12. What a shit show. Don't worry. @Chewbacca will show up and tell us why it's all fine.
  13. Texas football practice report: Can't-miss observations from the Longhorns' first two days of fall camp I really wish Hutson or Neto could usurp Conner at LG. Either one would be an athletic upgrade. I'm tired of Conner getting beat to spots.
  14. Correct. But in RTG mode, you don't get to control when your player is on the field. So, the CPU engine fucked him over by playing him one play in five games.
  15. Also, the coaches will plan for this sort of situation. It's not complicated to premortem this type of scenario.
  16. I don't know. I was just responding to this portion of CTJ's post: "So there are a lot of red flags there. If he doesn't cost a program a ton of money (but he probably will), he's a quality lottery ticket. He will boost hype and rankings of the class, which helps the overall class"
  17. I'm all for taking a flier on the guy if he positively impacts recruiting overall on the defensive side of the ball. However, if he doesn't help bring in anyone else of significance and ties up needed NIL money, those aren't great ramifications of a commitment to Texas. He's gifted enough to provide true impact for football and/or baseball. I'm skeptical he'll be able to do both at a highly effective level (although, since he doesn't play QB as many pitchers do, maybe he can), but I'm even more skeptical he'll forgo the MLB draft - especially with his pitching potential as a LHP.
  18. Probably doing him a solid. 1. Speak some sense into the team about avoiding drugs and why. 2. Paid speaking gig. Money + résumé builder on that front.
  19. Nope. It's not a contingency for the MLB position. It's a contingency plan for the primacy communicator on the defensive side of the ball. None of the three players being trained on defense play the same position. If the primary communicator went down, it's not going to be their backup who calls the defense. It's going to be one of the other two players mentioned. How is this so hard for some of y'all to wrap your heads around? Regardless, we're not even at the point at which we know who it will be. I'd assume they want it to be Hill though.
  20. What gives me hope is that I don’t think he’ll secure a college job better than Texas or an NBA HCing position before Texas is open again. However, unless he experiences college coaching success elsewhere, he doesn’t fit what CDC normally hires. I hope he finds his way to Austin eventually though.
  21. Both teams probably boast better defenses than offenses (especially true for aggy). However, I think ND's defense will be better than aggy's offense, especially with a new offensive system and question marks at both QB and OL for the ags. While ND's offense is rather meh, I think Leonard and Love are decent enough to win that game. If it were in South Bend, it wouldn't even be a question in my mind. Here's to hoping Freeman doesn't fuck this one up like OSU last year. If aggy does pull it out, the roller coaster is going to be mighty high up the initial lift early in the season.
