2025 Texas Coaching/Support Staff Thread
Let's reiterate to everyone what you do in this type of situation: Hopefully, Brooks' situations made way for similar expectation setting and education among Texas athletes. Brooks still would have gotten arrested without talking given what the police report showed, but it would have looked way better for plenty of people/orgs involved.

Texas Recruiting Notes 2026: Boulevard of Broken Bagmen
From Bobby's write up this AM: One recruiting note: Linebacker Braylon Hodge from Cherry Creek HS in Colorado (same HS as Gunnar Helm) officially decommitted from Michigan State last week. He then took an official visit to Oregon this past weekend. He is slated to also see Michigan and Texas. The Texas visit is currently set for Nov. 22 for the Arkansas game. While it would be natural to expect Hodge to make a decision after he takes all of his visits, he actually has already seen Texas once this semester. So don’t be surprised if he makes a decision in the next couple of weeks. Cherry Creek won the 5A state title last year and they’re undefeated again this season. Hodge has 90 tackles on the season and recorded a career-high 21 tackles in a single game against Pine Creek. https://247sports.com/player/braylon-hodge-46156503/

Week 7 2025: Texas at Kentucky
He didn’t. OTF said it was during practice. Doesn’t sound like he’ll be back quickly. “Texas will be without starting center Cole Hutson when on the road this weekend in Lexington. Hutson sustained an injury in practice and very quickly was given the inactive designation. The expectation is Connor Robertson will start at center for the Horns this weekend. Connor Stroh also appears on the injury report on the offensive line. As does Xavier Filsaime in the back end of the defense.”

2026 OT John Turntine
He’s going to have to play guard if he needs to gain a ton of weight. His wingspan is going to shrink so much! -some idiot on Surly, once With as strong as he is, I think he could play OT at 285. We’ve had successful OTs play at that weight in the past 10 years.

They'll be battle-tested, at least. Hopefully they won't be worn down by the end of the regular season.

Just For Feet was there too. Got my AJ 17s there back when TJ Ford wore them at Texas. I loved that they had a half basketball court in there.

This is who Steve Sarkisian is.
OU is legitimately pretty meh (horrible on offense). Let's see continued progress from the entire offense against Kentucky and Miss State. Do what we need to in those games and I'll be more of a believer. Miss State, at least, has a competent offense and it's a road game. However, the final four games will tell all - three competent opponents and a jihad game from Arky with nothing else to lose this season.

OU Football 2025 - Cheated Its Way To a Backdoor CFP Appearance
They legitimately could go 0-6 to 2-4 over their next six: @USCe Ole Miss @Tennessee @Bama Missouri LSU I don't see them winning any road games. South Carolina is the most likely; but is Mateer playing that game? Otherwise, Ole Miss and Missouri should beat them. I guess that defense + Mateer back might play LSU well enough at home, but there's no way I see more than two remaining Ws on that schedule. Does 7-5 do enough to retain Venables? Do they even have enough money to buy him out? Buyout breakdown (AI summary, so who knows): December 1, 2025: $36,294,182 2026: $34.9 million 2027: $26.2 million 2028: $17.4 million 2029: $8.5 million January 31, 2030: The contract expires, and the buyout becomes $0

Texas WBB 2025-26: Return to the Final Four
I never want anyone to get hurt, especially an injury that can alter their ability and career, but I'll take any advantage Texas may get to push farther than we've been recently. Texas has its own mini reset in the front court with Jones departing, but hopefully Oldacre stays healthy, Sidberry and Cunningham contribute meaningfully, Carlton keeps improving, and Hose provides good depth. As we discussed ad nauseam last season, improved consistency and increased three-point shooting numbers (percentage and attempts) would really help open up the interior, as well.

Every single dynasty I have played, regardless of Texas' record, Sark leaves for OU or Michigan after year 1. This has happened like six out of six times.
