  1. What happened to force that?
  2. Haha, I'd change my tune on Vitello and Schloss if either were hired. Both would be upgrades, for sure. Regardless, I trust CDC to improve the head coaching spot when he makes a change. It's just his modus operandi.
  3. If CDC pulls any of the coaches in the CWS (although, really there are two names circulating as rumors from that pool of eight), it's an improvement. I can also make a strong argument for Bakich > Pierce in terms of future dividends. If I'm betting, it's likely Bakich, with Vitello as an outside shot.
  4. Exactly. It won't be possible to win the conference championship at a 50% clip in the SEC - not even close. It doesn't even matter. There are four SEC teams in the CWS, and five played in Super Regionals. The program should always be in a healthy enough state to make the postseason and compete for a trip to Omaha. Texas should never have glaring roster deficiencies like it does right now. The organic recruiting and development pitching trajectory on this roster over the past couple of years (and leading into next) has been atrocious compared to historical standards. Additionally, the head coach at Texas should not have questions surrounding the year-over-year health of his program in year 8. Again, Pierce is not a bad coach. However, those stanning for him and acting like he's being unfairly thrown under the bus are deluding themselves. If Texas is okay being a top-10% program, keep him. If not, a change is necessary. He's shown more than enough at this point to justify being shown the door; let alone all of the other off-the-field shit he hasn't been adept at.
  5. If it is Vitello, CDC truly is a wizard. I’d have to imagine the hire would come with significant commitments to baseball resources overall.
  6. Fuck, this romance is turning into the baseball version of Derka and Motownhorn.
  7. New to gardening. Have a community plot for my young kids to learn to enjoy the work and the excitement of growth/the harvest like I did when I was young. The plot is year-round. I know we’re basically too late for summer, but what resources do y’all have for newbies in Central Texas? I’d love to do some late Summer/Fall planting. Otherwise, thank you for the existence of this thread!
  8. I don’t give a shit if we get Charlie Chaplin’s toothbrush style, as long as we win.
  9. Not at all. They’ve shot up the rankings in a myriad of undergraduate and graduate programs, let alone their overall undergraduate ranking.
  10. BYU is probably the best academic institution in the Big 12 now.
  11. Yeah, I meant what was announced by the university as a straight-up firing. That’s why I put the Augie caveat. He is the last, as of now. Both he and Gus were fired in reality, but technically weren’t announced as such.
  12. Depending on who you ask about the situation, Augie. In terms of a straight up firing, probably the first decade of the 1900s…
  13. Don’t worry, I’m told Pierce is an excellent coach and we should put all of our faith in his ability to restore Texas to its rightful glory days.
  14. That was horribly written, but I certainly appreciate the information. I’d love BOC in Austin. Yeah, FiveTool.
  15. Texas has almost no quality pitching right now. So, yeah, color me fucking skeptical. The pitching landscape is on track to be even worse than this past season. Of course, that could change; but with Pierce's job in flux (right now and next season), I'm highly doubtful he's going to be able to pull what this team needs out of the portal. It's not being a pussy - it's the writing on the wall. We'll see.
  16. What other programs are probably looking for new coaches that would be considered big enough for Kendall to hint at?
  17. No fucking way with Pierce’s roster construction . He has gaping holes every year. Florida is one of the most talented teams in the nation. Texas, is not.
  18. As of right now, it damn sure will be.
  19. Nickel, apparently. But I bet he ends up at TE. Jackson will end up at SDE.
  20. Thats not how it works. Every school only gets points from the same number of sports (a max of 19). However, the more sports a school sponsors, the higher probability that total will be comprised of a greater number of better finishes. That’s why Stanford has had such an advantage. They don’t get to count every sport - rather, they do really well in a ton of niche sports, which bolsters the latter half of their points list. Edit: I see that was covered. Should have read the thread before commenting.
