  1. If Texas makes a change, whoever they hire will be one of the highest paid coaches, if not the top. Just what the market will command for any coach worth a damn.
  2. Which is wild, because Ace was the best starter on this staff for a large portion of the season. "Best" is relative, obviously.
  3. Yeah, I can agree on all of that. There's probably a scenario where Pierce sets up a system to allow Williams to do what he does best (coach pitching) and mitigates his poor recruiting ability (inability to even do it?). However, it's Pierce's way or the highway, and I don't think he's even aware enough to pick up on the fact that he probably needed to establish something like that in the first place.
  4. It's a pipe dream, but a dream nonetheless. He has a legit chance to win it all this year. Even if he doesn't, no chance aggy lets him leave without throwing every asset in the AD at him.
  5. But... hopefully without that last part.
  6. I was with you until this. From everything I've seen, Williams was way in over his head at Texas when it came to fulfilling the holistic duties of his job.
  7. This roster is going to look a hell of a lot different next year - especially (presumably) with a new coach coming in.
  8. I'm not saying he would. I'm just saying I'd love him as the hire.
  9. You're going to get a lot of shit for this take, but I agree. I'd love Schloss or Vitello. I don't want Saarloos though. I know plenty of people don't like the first two, but I'd change my tune if either of those "assholes" were our asshole.
  10. Counterpoint is CDC didn’t make that hire and we didn’t even have a real AD at the time. Which you know. I just don’t think you needed the caveat because it was a special circumstance.
  11. I came here to say the same thing. If they get bounced by a 4-seed, I can't imagine what it's like to be a Pig fan. They have had some dominant players and were literally a routine out away from a title in 2018. However, they haven't gotten it done yet. You can't fire DVH, but the hope-to-disappointment emotional journey each year for that fan base must be excruciating. Not that I care - it's Arkansas after all. But, I can commiserate being a Texas fan. 2006 onward hasn't been easy given what Texas has historically been.
  12. There are many more concerns than solely the errors that occurred last night.
  13. Hasn't CDC already said the move to grass is happening within the next few years?
  14. And what if Texas hired him? (which I doubt happens, because A&M will spend any amount of money to not lose him to Texas).
  15. Look no farther than Schloss in College Station to compare program health. He's in his third year with an obvious upward trajectory and a real sense of how to command the transfer portal to upgrade the roster. Sure, DP's aggregate results haven't been bad in the grand scheme of college baseball, but how can anyone have confidence in him when there's no consistent performance across the program? He's completely bungled on-field assistant coaching hires, shown his arrogance and a lack of leadership when it comes to pitching development/the pitching coach position, and hasn't proven to be able to manage the roster composition well. He's not a bad coach if Texas wants to be a top-10 or 15% program. But that's not the standard, nor representative of the advantages a coach has at a program like Texas.
  16. Witt commanded an outsized portion of baseball's NIL budget. Re-injury (remaining injured?) really hurt this team in terms of overall performance, pitching depth, and ROI on NIL. Pierce obviously had some bad luck with his transfer pool, but he's still the person accountable for roster decisions.
  17. "We played terribly." Uh, not really, overall. The terrible plays were the reason Texas lost and A&M didn't. Texas pitched extremely well - well enough it win. It's entirely pragmatic to understand why so many here believe winning last night was basically the only shot Texas had to capture this regional. Texas is short on pitching and now must win two games to throw our best arms again. Besides, don't underestimate the emotion of the loss last night for this team, or the fact that this is still college baseball, which carries significant potential for chaos. ULL may indeed beat Texas. On the other hand, Texas could win both today. Nevertheless, the likelihood of now winning this regional is now minuscule, at best.
  18. Texas has Whitehead, Hurley, and a bunch of nobodies left in the BP. It doesn't matter if Texas wins today vs. ULL. Not a chance in hell this pitching staff wins three straight. Winning last night was the only shot. Texas had it and blew it, multiple times.
  19. The fuckin defense. My god.
  20. On the brightside, maybe his draft stock falls and he comes back. He’s an eligible sophomore. Yeah, just grasping at straws here
