  1. 100%. I'd love to improve the IOL. I'm not sure I agree. DE: We have great talent at DE, but most of the returning talent will be young/inexperienced. Another SDE would provide for great depth with Sorrell moving on and uncertainty with Moore. You can never have enough experienced, physically matured depth along the lines. - I expect more numbers at both DT and DE, especially if Moore decides to leave. IOL: IOL is a needed improvement. This speaks for itself. WR: Our WR room is young but has a lot of potential. Get Golden or Bond back and they could possibly roll with the room we have. It doesn't sound like the staff is desperate here for just a body or to overpay for limited production. S: This is up in the air with Taaffe's decision still looming. Same logic applies as WR. They aren't going to overpay. They certainly were after the Purdue safety, though. There is still the spring window. I'm entirely confident this staff will fill roster needs when they are fully known come season's end and NFL draft intentions have been decided and communicated to all parties. Shit, they can't even focus on full-time recruiting yet. They're still game planning and practicing. Otherwise, Texas is 4/4 with filling needs/upgrading the roster, thus far.
  2. Next year’s squad could be really, really good. Just need the connection now. It never seemed like we got that with this year’s team.
  3. Typical ags. Thinking they have the cache and cash to get anyone they want.
  4. Yeah, you've accentuated their ridiculousness even more. They're insane, but they've somehow convinced themselves it was a good hire. Maybe it will pay off in some ways for one year (since they did retain a lot of talent), but I'd bet a lot of money it's going to implode thereafter. As far as the comparison to RT over Adams - I wasn't talking tenure, just rationale (continuity, roster management, etc., at the expense of an unqualified candidate). But Earley is an even more extreme example.
  5. Now consider the fact that Mark Adams was probably more professionally qualified than Earley. I doubt Earley has the same personal issues as Adams, though. Regardless, you’re right. This was: 1. A desperate attempt to keep the roster together because the players like him; even though the real reason the players stayed was because A&M paid the fuck up. 2. A PR move to have the stance of: “See, the entire staff doesn’t want to leave for TU.” I’d probably liken this situation more to RT and Texas after Beard than Adams and Tech. I.e., they hired an unqualified guy to hold the roster together. I, personally, think the results will show that was a mistake, even with their roster talent. Perfect Game must think aggy has the best roster in America by a mile if they’re actually accounting for the coaching staff drop off in those preseason rankings.
  6. Right. I was going to say - here we go again with Surly saying they wouldn't... Yeah, right.
  7. 100% true, unfortunately. I conveniently slotted that one into "other factors."
  8. Agreed - particularly with offensive schemes. There were a ton of coaching trees that came out of the conference in the 2000s and early/mid 2010s. Shit, in the 2000s, it was often considered the best top to bottom football conference. OU's inability to win big postseason games after 2000, Alabama's ascension, the ESPN love affair with the SEC afterwards, combined with conference realignment, as well as the bag game and other factors, shifted that narrative.
  9. Hiding his chubby with that blanket. Classic middle school tactic, right there.
  10. Nope, we Keaontay Ingramed ourselves. Edit: I see this was covered by @Davis Lane
  11. Yep. Current forecast doesn't show any temps below 32 degrees. I think the roads are going to be fine. Only concern *might* be overpasses, but it doesn't really seem like it'll be an issue.
  12. Yeah, Texas isn’t making the tournament. Hopefully, it leads to positive change.
  13. Once again, Vegas knows what they're doing. Luckily, a terrible first half by Texas saved your anus and @Helobious. RT still needs to go, though.
  14. I mean, glory holes are really just penis portals, so it checks out.
  15. Also, much of the student and alumni-related backlash he has dealt with is much less likely to happen at SMU (Not trying to CR, but y'all know what I mean). I'm sure there are plenty of advantages for a university president when the school they are at is a private, as well. More authority and less free information, too. Yep, Eltife seems like the more important piece to CDC than Hartzell.
  16. Exactly. I understand the thinking that the probability of blocking the punt with 11 is likely greater than scoring on one final play from 80 yards out. However, the combined probability of blocking a punt with 10 and then having another play gives you a greater chance to pull off the miracle.
  17. Another WTF decision by MSU's coaching staff. I get you want to go for the block, but at least have one guy to catch the ball so you get a final play. Just a fucking dumb decision.
  18. They're certainly not done. Bobby and Gerry know the staff's agenda. That's why they keep saying two more DTs. Even if quality DTs don't enter on their own accord, I trust our staff's roster management to go and get another competent piece, or two. @closetojumping keeps referring to dry powder being available. I'm sure they'll use it to get the additions Texas needs at DT.
  19. This is an aside to the conversation at hand, but Fleck has been pretty good at Minnesota given it's a very unsexy place to attract top CFB talent (irrespective of the school itself, facilties, etc., which are all really nice). I would think a better program would take a shot on him - not sure what he may want though. He has the best winning percentage at Minny of any coach since WWII, and he's been there eight seasons. 6-0 in bowls is nice, too. He hasn't had outsized success, but that's seems nearly impossible at Minnesota.
  20. These two both had a lot of production this season at the P4 level. I really like these additions. Shaw has big time upside, too, if he continues his development - which should happen under a coach like Baker.
  21. Yeah, preventing injuries is sooo horrible. Sheesh, it's not like they're doing this to home plate or something.
