  1. Nice dig, but that doesn't mean the outlier driving your statistical analysis make your point. While you're right that Wisner was effective in the later stages of the game, the run game was nonexistent and extremely poor in the first half. Overall, the average outside of one play was shit. Average can be, and was in this particular game, a false expectation of what would happen we Texas tried to run the ball. That is all true. So, while the average figure you presented was correct, it did not at all reflect what the run game looked like on the majority of carries and it's not why Texas won the game, overall. Also, I might be wrong in this assumption, but one offensive TDs and three FGs will get us beat by UGA. If it ends up being wrong, I'll eat crow hard and admit it.
  2. That's all far. Texas has been much too inconsistent of a team (especially on offense at all positions) to simply use stats to predict outcome here. However, the big predictor in my mind is I trust Kirby over Sark to scheme well and adjust over the course of the game. Throw in it's a road game for Texas and I think we lose. However, we certainly have the talent and potential to win.
  3. Monday - Bobby Notes on: injury progession (seems good) OL construction (and why we should cut the coaching staff slack - meh) UGA (they don't have any holes as a team and are more efficient than super effective this season) Strategic factors for Texas that will decide the game (limit the run on early downs, force negative plays and TOs. Things UGA has been good at exploiting and not allowing in wins)
  4. Average is a shitty stat. Wisner ran for 57 yards on 21 carries (2.71 per) if you take away the one long carry of 37 yards. Our rushing attack from the RBs was terrible and ineffective most of the game. Wisner caught fire in the fourth quarter, especially catching the ball. OU is not comparable to UGA, especially on offense and running the ball, where UGA has been extremely effective. OU's offense sucked and Texas scored only one offensive TD, a ST TD, and went 3/5 on FGs. If we play like we did against OU against UGA, especially on offense, we'll lose.
  5. He's also a 2027 recruit from CA and USC is going hog wild with NIL offers and early money. Gerry talks about NIL pressure from USC, OSU, Florida, and LSU below. Shit, even schools like UNC can throw disproportionate offers (compared to Texas) at guys like Thomas and beat us. Recruiting: Who is Texas battling down the stretch? - Gerry
  6. No, it's not weird. This is not the first time BYU has done this in the past two years. Also, when has Texas ever prioritized basketball to the extent of those teams you listed? Never... Correct. BYU has gone all in on basketball. Their NIL is currently top-five, maybe top-three. They have unique (to say the least) fundraising mechanisms, as well. Trying to build and maintain top-tier NIL collectives across all major sports is going to dilute some purchasing power somewhere. It just will. Texas is massively competitive in football, baseball, and just about every non-revenue sport. However, in Men's Basketball, we're not even top 10. Shit, we've been in the middle to upper tier of the second third just in the SEC. We're not "The Joneses," and especially not in basketball. If we were, we'd have more than one modern-day FF banner. NIL has allowed more competition and parity among "The Joneses." BYU has targeted basketball. Tech has targeted football and softball. Texas is trying to sustainability set up every single sport NIL wise. It's happening, but it takes time.
  7. Vanderbilt won. They’re still very much in the CFP race. The CFP format is much better. I like the parity. Just mad Texas may have stepped on their own dick one too many times by season’s end to make it, even though they might have four very good wins.
  8. I admittedly don’t know anything about him since leaving CU. I was merely talking about his potential, athleticism, and production at CU. Now that I’m informed, I redact my excitement.
  9. No, we could use a WR on our roster to have that production. Which hasn’t happened yet due to horrible QB play, OL play, and injuries at the WR position, for much of this season. If BT was on our roster, he wouldn’t have his same stat line. He has a limited route tree, doesn’t give great effort as a blocker, and many of the same issues that led to him transferring in the first place would likely still apply.
  10. It's fucking wild Texas may end the season with four top-10 wins but not make the playoffs because we lost to fucking shitass Florida.
  11. Saturday - Two new offers - Bobby

  13. Arch Manning must keep thriving against pressure when Texas faces Georgia - Howe (OTF)
  14. Arch Manning must keep thriving against pressure when Texas faces Georgia - Howe (OTF) Ho-Lee-Fuk: "According to Pro Football Focus, Manning has been pressured 122 times through nine games, tying him with South Carolina’s LaNorris Sellers for the second-most pressures faced among FBS quarterbacks" At least Arch is adapting to it all. A "W" @ UGA would be massive for our CFP chances.

  16. Rest & Recovery Take Priority Over Texas Bye Week (Thursday 11:45 a.m.) - Vogel (OTF) Primary injuries notes from the article below: DB Michael Taaffe, barring any setbacks, is still on schedule to return to the field for the trip to Athens. DB Jelani McDonald is in protocol still. There is hope he will be cleared early next week, but it is no guarantee with brain bruises. WR Ryan Wingo is not expected to miss time according to Steve Sarkisian, but how impactful will he be? That remains to be seen. Thumbs are important for wide receivers. WR Daylan McCutcheon was in a sling after the game on Sunday, but is expected to be available for next week. McCutcheon ended up seeing time on the field in the 2nd half vs. Vanderbilt. DB Xavier Filsaime was dinged up at the conclusion of the game last Saturday. I do not have any new updates on Filsaime and his status. I believe it was a stinger to the shoulder, but will double check.
  17. There's also probably pressure on paying anything that has been paid back (at least verbally), unless it's explicitly stated in the contract (which I'm not sure is allowed, anyways).
  18. Texas is making strides in areas that matter down the stretch - Howe (OTF)
  19. Recruiting: Coaches on the road; 5-star visit update (Thurs. 5:30am CT) By Gerry Hamilton Recruiting: Coaches on the road; 5-star visit update Members of the Texas staff will be on the road starting today. Stops include LSU 4-star+ OT commit Brysten Martinez, 4-star defensive line commit Corey Wells, 4-star+ defensive line commit Vodney Cleveland various stops in the Lone Star State and likely a coach in the Sunshine State. OTF dives into the latest on the recruiting trail as the coaches begin their stops for the week. November 22-23 visitor list ... 5-star Richard Anderson, DL, New Orleans, La./Edna Karr - *LSU commit (maybe/likely) There were reports of Anderson possibly visiting for the Texas A&M game. That is not what OTF was told Wednesday night. It's the Arkansas game weekend that Texas is targeting, and had discussions about with Anderson and his circle yesterday. There is some pressure from those around LSU NIL to not make any visits. Texas coaches are expected by the school Friday. 4-star+ Brysten Martinez, OT, Gonzales, La./East Ascension - *LSU commit Texas had a very successful unofficial visit last weekend, and now are expected to receive and OV. Who and when LSU makes their hire looms large here. 4-star+ Dre Quinn, EDGE, Buford, Ga./High - Ohio State or Texas decision expected by the 6-4, 230-pounder. The Buckeyes may have the slight momentum edge currently. 3-star++ Toray Davis, DB, Boulder, Colo./Fairview - Washington very much in it after a recent OV. November 22-23 will be a first visit to Texas. Defensive line recruiting ... Four junior college prospects are being evaluated. Two at defensive tackle, and two at edge. More on that in the coming days. Texas continues to recruit 4-star+ DL and Florida pledge Kendall Guervil (Fort Myers, Fla./High). This is the first week that Guervil has been a little more shaky about coming in for a visit. Florida collective applying a lot of pressure right now to stick. Texas would accept a flip commitment from 4-star EDGE and Baylor pledge Jamarion Carlton (Temple, Texas/High). Texas is also staying in contact with 5-star LSU EDGE commit Trenton Henderson (Pensacola, Fla./Pine Forest).
  20. Relevant to this discussion: Thursday By Bobby Burton While the focus for many fans rightly remains on the rest of the Longhorns’ regular season, behind the scenes is a different story for much of the Texas staff. Steve Sarkisian and his personnel team are prepping diligently for next spring and the 2026 season from a roster construction standpoint. Gerry Hamilton wrote this morning about a number of potential high school prospects (and possibly a junior college player or two, as well). While adding new talent to the mix is always important, it is far from the only moving roster piece currently receiving major attention of the Longhorns’ coaches. There is the 1) retention and 2) attrition of current players on the roster to be concerned with. And then there are 3) potential additions via the transfer portal. Texas is working on all three aspects, plus 4) high school recruiting. We hear a lot about high school recruiting, but not much about the current roster. That is by design during the football season. No one wants to take away the focus on the season itself. So Brandon Harris and the personnel staff are like ducks swimming in a pond right now. Things may appear calm, cool and collected above water, but beneath the surface, they’re paddling as fast and efficiently as they can. To this point, outside of a couple of players, like Jerrick Gibson and Will Stone, no other current Longhorn has announced a decision to enter the transfer portal. Surely there will be more attrition. But who and how much? That’s what no one, including Texas or even the current players, knows for sure. Perhaps the biggest factor lording over the situation is the new revenue sharing limits. For many teams across the NCAA, that will mean more money to distribute to rosters. For some, like Texas, it might mean less than previous years. And that will be the most interesting aspect of the off-season. How do the new revenue sharing rules and limits effect roster construction? Will it hurt a team’s depth? After all, a second teamer at Georgia could be a starter at Maryland. Will it change the personnel focus from high school recruiting to player retention? How do you best combine all of those four aspects to create not only the best team for 2026 but the best program for the long haul? We don’t have the all the answers quite yet. No one does IMO. So I get the distinct feeling that this may be the most interesting off-season in college football ever. Prepare yourself for it now, just like the Texas personnel staff is already behind the scenes. I think it’s going to be wild.

  23. UPDATE 10:40 pm: Berymon tells OTF he is still “100% committed to Texas” and remains in the class. Though now more willing to listen to schools elsewhere it appears.
