  1. Bounce back day for the conference. No one lost, except Baylol (UCF with a no contest due to weather). Cincy probably got lucky their game was canceled.
  2. Yeah, that seems like coverage for a guy who is struggling.
  3. Not hurt. Subpar velocity and shaky command. All three outs in the first were on balls put into play. Pierce pulled him before it got really bad.
  4. Yep, realized that as I posted. Made a quick edit.
  5. Same stuff as always. There’s literally no excuse to have holes in the roster these days, especially at Texas. SP, 2B, and C, for example. I really like Pierce, overall, but he has some real negative trends with roster management and some WTF in-game, situational decisions.
  6. He has to have no confidence at this point. Which sucks, because he was so good. He needs a move to the BP at this point; maybe that change would help him.
  7. We’re talking about the fact that there isn’t a RF on the lineup card.
  8. Interesting defensive strategy today. And I still don’t understand why O’Dowd is batting fourth.
  9. Witt looking decently good today would go a long way for my confidence of the overall pitching prowess. As said, the bats need to wake up. However, half the batting order is comprised of inexperienced hitters at the college level. So, there’s going to be an adjustment period.
  10. At Villanova those two items are a detriment. Not at Texas. It still won’t happen and I’d rather have someone younger. Do we go back to the well of West Texas and hire GM?
  11. Yep. He’s virtually unplayable at this point.
  12. I’m not sure I agree. The wind really caught ahold of that ball. I thought he adjusted well.
  13. He did, in CF. Had the first hit for Texas.
  14. OSU loses at SHSU. Sorry, @'stache. OUsucks goes down Kansas with a bad loss. I guess these teams don't like playing in Texas. And Cincy looks as bad as we predicted.
  15. I'm really looking forward to seeing if that changes this season. This year's Purdue team is very good. But maybe a spade is a spade.
  16. Yeah, I doubt O'Dowd is long for the spot, either. He'll end up somewhere 6-9, especially given Gaspirino's, Sanders', and Belyeu's potential.
  17. I doubt it. He’s pretty meh on both sides of the ball when it comes to Texas standards. If you’re going to be lackluster in one major phase of the game, you better be elite in the other. That’s not O’Dowd.
  18. First pitch of the season is a ball. Fire Pierce.
  19. I used the wrong term. I meant in the batting order.
  20. O’Dowd in the four hole is a bit surprising to me.
  21. But really, @immamac needs to create an exception in the site contents that these two can’t respond to each other. Regardless of who is starting shit over and over again.
  22. We’re watching baseball today!
  23. More from Howe: We just got done meeting with David Pierce and a few players before this weekend’s season-opening series against San Diego. Here are few things to note: — Lebarron Johnson Jr. is getting the ball and Charlie Hurley will start on Saturday. Pierce said when Johnson takes the mound, everybody in the program believes they’re going to win. He thinks LBJ is going to have a special season. — Tanner Witt is available to pitch this weekend, but the Sunday starter is officially TBA. Pierce said Witt is close to top form, but he’s still working through a few things. — Heading into the season, Pierce indicated the team’s top three bullpen guys are David Shaw, Gage Boehm and Grant Fontenot. — Pierce all but confirmed that Jared Thomas will lead off and start at first base. Thomas said he’ll play wherever Pierce wants him, but he’s expected to get some time in center field. Casey Borba, Nik Sanders and Cam Constantine have worked at first base whenever Thomas has gone to center field. — Expectations are high for Jalin Flores at shortstop. Pierce has said Flores and Max Belyeu (who Pierce said has earned the right to start in right field) are two of the most improved players in the program since the end of the 2023 season.
