  1. Sweep Kansas and it probably won’t matter. But as @WBT pointed out, I bet they send Texas to Arky or Aggy regardless.
  2. Probably so.
  3. I butchered point 6 trying to edit before the window closed: 6. Predicted RPI for Texas is 40th (35-20, 20-10). This means it thinks we sweep KU. However, all the above applies. It's likely that Texas will be viewed as a team somewhere in the 17-24 range, which would help us miss a top-8 seed. Even if this is not the case, maybe we get a favorable matchup. Caveats: 1. A bad collapse against KU and then in the conference tourney. 2. The NCAA's potential insatiable desire (fuckery afoot) to send Texas to College Station or Fayetteville regardless of any metrics.
  4. Agreed. Here are some reasons: There a few teams ranked ahead of Texas in the RPI that may not even make the tourney; there are even more that won't secure a higher/more advantageous seed/draw based on the totality of their résumé. Texas' (current) 12 Q1 wins are tied for third-most in the country, behind Kentucky and Tennessee. While the Q4 losses will keep Texas from hosting, the Q1 wins should help with the draw. These Q1 wins will help Texas' KPI rating, while the Q4 losses will hurt it a lot in comparison to other P5 teams. This is the wildcard here. Mid-majors generally have lower KPIs than RPIs, so Texas' Q1 wins should help here still. Texas' conference and non-con SOS are currently top-30. Many similar RPI teams have much worse rankings here. Texas is likely to finish third or fourth in the third-best RPI conference. If third, OU and OSU are likely hosts. Texas has played much better to end the regualr season against good competition. While I know this isn't supposed to affect seeding, I still think it does to an extent. Predicted RPI for Texas is 40th (35-20, 20-10). This means it thinks we sweep KU. 5. Current standings and RPI.
  6. Was the left side of the truck sagging towards the ground from a bone-weary suspension system? If so, you got it.
  7. No chance. Three games behind OU with five remaining. Texas could win out and win the conference tournament and still wouldn’t host. Even with something like that, the Q4 losses prevent Texas from being a top-20 RPI team.
  8. Live RPI: Texas: 51 --> 46 UCF: 31 --> 37 https://www.warrennolan.com/baseball/2024/rpi-live
  9. Given Texas' ability to hit home runs, combined with how many FOs they have at the Disch, and the UCF starting staff's ERAs, I feel like Texas should score plenty of runs to win games. UCF being first in overall ERA must mean their bullpen/the composite staff must be pretty consistent. A road series win, especially a sweep, would do wonders for Texas' RPI. Granted, there's probably diminishing marginal returns since UCF is only 18 spots ahead. Nevertheless, win the series and it'll be massive for RPI.
  10. They fence it off for both softball and baseball. That's the softball side. I assume that doesn't happen because the softball fences are closer in. The baseball side looks more predictable based on this video:
  11. Regardless of performance, at least Texas now has the DT depth that players should take absolutely zero plays off.
  12. OT to 2024, but historical transfer "news" nonetheless. On this morning's "OTF Today," Gerry and Bobby were discussing QB recruiting and heights of 6 feet and under regarding KJ Lacey vs. Keelon Russell and that height lends to higher ceilings. Gerry then went on to say that Russell Wilson didn't want to go to Wisconsin and that he wanted to attend Texas, but Mack passed him over because of his height. This was something I wasn't aware of.
  13. Or Saban, the appeal and prestige of Alabama Football, and the bag game.
  14. Maybe this time they won't fuck up getting to host.
  15. I would mind it. We don't match up well with Pig's pitching.
  16. It'll be interesting to see what happens here. QBs are always overvalued in the draft due to the potential value they create when you hit correctly. Despite all the drama, I bet a team drafts him high.
  17. For the current football roster; not for the long-term financial health of the football team/AD (apparently). Granted, I'm pretty sure MM never gets offered if he were a c/o 25 recruit. Yep, this. We've lamented the fact that Davis hasn't generally brought in high four-star or five-star players. We've also been generally happy with his development at the position. Recruiting has always been his issue at Texas.
  18. 2023 – – Played in five games, but had no statistics. 2022 – – Redshirted… did not see any game action… missed significant practice time in preseason and 2023 spring practice due to injury.
  19. I'm just going off of what Bobby says here (timestamped for convenience):
  20. On this morning's "OTF Today" video, Bobby mentioned that Sark and staff want to use any remaining scholarships (not spent on immediate impact guys) on freshman or RS freshman who might be good development takes. As has been mentioned, Bowens gained a lot of weight and switched from DE to DT, so he needs to develop accordingly. I see it as a flyer on somebody at a premium position instead of forgoing the use of a scholarship/giving it to a walk-on. Texas sits at 82 right now, so they have three to spare. I know they are searching for immediate impact types at DT, LB, and P, and I would think they take risks on developmental guys if they don't hit on three at those positions. If they don't develop, they'll just portal out. I guess it remains to be seen if Auburn will benefit from an unaccounted scholarship.
  21. Woof. That roster is going to look really interesting by next year.
