  1. I will never understand why so many people must learn all their lessons the hard way. Sometimes, yeah I get it, you learn better by failing first, but this one is a pretty easy one to skip the hard lesson because the teachers have made the answer key public.
  2. There are lots of people who should bot wear sleeveless shirts. I spied proof of that just two posts up.
  3. Found out this week that another one of my employees had covid just before she started working for us. Took her a month to shake it. During that month she apparently gave it to a neighbor, who, 10 months later, still has no sense of taste or smell. I'd think that would be almost as bad as long term loss of lung capacity.
  4. I see Nazi Roomba made an appearance, would have loved to watch him get interviewed. They are behind, but I got an email from People's Pharmacy today saying that while it hasn't been officially approved, they are following the Pfizer protocol for people who have gotten the Moderna vaccine and offering a 3rd shot for those that want it.
  5. True story, my now husband was a 20something directly from Asia, and he lived here for 10 years before he gave up on wanting to buy a minivan. The thirst is real.
  6. If you promise to join in, I'll go first!
  7. I gave your dad a tonsillectomy last night*. *since no one was stepping up to make a mom joke
  8. The easier way is still to say, "Would you get on an airplane if you knew you only had a 99% chance of surviving the flight?"
  9. Ahh the good old days, when he was just a funny guy on cable access and you'd watch his stupid antics while you waited for Ask Livia to get started.
  10. That happens in January if he gets better and hasn't vaccinated by then. We haven't required the vaccine yet, but it's coming.
  11. You do you, but I'm going to care about the wellbeing of my countrymen. That's going to be true even when they are actively trying to kill themselves. I'm not a Christian, but I was raised to believe that caring was the Christian thing to do. I continue to wonder exactly what it is that today's Christians believe, because it doesn't appear to have anything to do with loving thy neighbor.
  12. So my unvaccinated employee still has COVID. It's been over a week now. 35, fit, bike racer in his off time. It's not getting worse, but it's also not getting better. This has been a real struggle, alternating between a FAAFO attitude and a "Oh shit, this guy that works for me and who I generally like is sick and not getting better" attitude. FAAFO seems to be winning more and more, and I guess I'm ok with that.
  13. So one of my employees called me from vacation today to let me know he's got COVID. Been waiting for this call since we had our "I'm not getting vaccinated" call a few months ago. He's been unable to sleep, has a fever that comes and goes, sounds a mess, etc. And he had to cut his vacation short to come home and convalesce. He'd finally decided he was going to get vaccinated, and was scheduled to get vaccinated on Wednesday this week, but now that's going to be on hold, we'll see for how long. I'm partially blaming his girlfriend, who is vaccinated, but has not given him even an ounce of shit for it. I gave him a ton of shit for it, which is why he finally decided to go get vaccinated I guess, but god damn, he could've walked in at any point over the last 6 months and just gotten one, but he schedules the damn thing for the day after he gets back from traveling around on vacation. Fucker gets sick while on vacation and I'm sitting there thinking about all the people out in the wild he ran into in hotels, restaurants, etc that now are going to get sick because this idiot wouldn't vaccinate. I frankly can't wait until my company institutes a vaccine requirement. I'll be sad about a couple people that will have to leave because they won't change their mind, but most of them I am ready to cut them loose and never talk to those selfish assholes again.
  14. Yeah ok. Negged. However, you bring up a point that I think bears repeating. If nothing else, China has provided the blueprint for how some malevolent actor could take out the US as a superpower. Simply unleash a virus. Everyone else will work their ass off to get vaccinated. Americans will not. You could kill off millions of us with a well designed virus that has a vaccine available for it. And don't think that other countries haven't noticed that. It's why what you are trying to use as a gotcha is really just more reason that people on your side of the fence ought to be out yelling from the rooftops to vaccinate, for patriotic national security reasons if for nothing else. But I don't expect to see a behavior change. Best we can hope for is that as many of the dumber members of your party as possible die off quickly to give the rest of us a better chance when the real attack eventually comes. Because of what we've seen in this country since the vaccine became widely available, good luck with your crusade to hold China responsible. Even if we agree that China is 100% responsible for this virus getting out into the world, we've had vaccines for 8 months now. The only reason this is still even a thing in the US is because we've decided that we want China to do even more damage by ignoring our doctors and our government in favor of giving China even more kills in this virus war. It's fucking moronic to be yelling about China at this point. They no longer have anything at all to do with why we are where we are.
  15. So let me make sure I'm understanding your argument. Your argument is that this was a virus unleashed on the world by China and that it is their fault it has killed ~677K people in the US so far. Am I reading that right? Or are you saying that China has actually had that many people die but they are underreporting their own deaths? There's a discussion to be had here, but I don't know which discussion before understanding what you are getting at. Can you clarify so that we can talk about whichever one it is?
  16. Tell me you never listened to Howard Stern without telling me you never listened to Howard Stern.
  17. I'm aware of the tuck rule in drag shows. This is super frowned upon, but not technically against the rules. You will get points taken off in the judging though.
  18. So wild assed idea, if I’m a hospital doctor, could I sue these people spreading covid misinformation for defamation? They are impugning my reputation as a care giver and making people less likely to use my services, therefore causing me financial harm. Does that work or do I have to be named directly before I can sue? If that worked, making these people pay would hopefully drastically reduce the misinformation going around at the very least.
  19. yeah I'm still not a fan of naming people after towns and cities. They call you Madison, I'm gonna call you kitten lips. Madison is already being used elsewhere, so you are going to get a synonym for the official animal of Madison, the badger as your new nickname. In fact, I move that we change the name of his thread to Kitten Lips.
  20. I'll take, "People I want to stay as far away as possible from" for $1,000, Alex.
  21. I really hate Michael Rappaport. He's a no talent ass clown. However, that was a masterpiece.
  22. Hey Trauma, and also you @Bama Chick, I’m still in for a celebration when this is done, but I bet we have a bunch of people ready to pool resources to make sure y’all continue to get surprised with food until then. Who would we talk to to sponsor the next food truck Friday, TB? BC, what are some options to help y’all out as well? We should be making this a regular thing.
  23. So what would it take for us to make it a Food Truck Friday?
  24. I suspect there's going to be a grace period for some. If there are high performers that are going to help make sure that fiscal year ends successfully, I expect some companies will push that date til a month or two after their fiscal year ends just to make sure they aren't having to mass replace people in the 4th quarter. They'll do it this way...Voluntary work from home, no in office requirement, til a month into fiscal year. Then day 1 of new fiscal year they'll announce the date is no longer moving, but everyone must be vaccinated. I'm actually looking forward to the shit show at my company.
