  1. Wait, the haters want her to have a lot of money and a lot of likes on her tweets? Does she not know the difference between a hater and a fan?
  2. I spent some time thinking about things this weekend, and have been struggling with why I just don't want to talk to my family since January 6th. I'm just not wanting to engage with them at all. They are still supporting the same Republican policies they were supporting on January 5th when I could look past it and keep in contact. None of my family have said anything on social media or to me directly that makes me believe they were in favor of the insurrection, and I suspect all of them would be against the events of the 6th if I asked them. And until this weekend I couldn't figure out why that wasn't enough. But I think I've figured it out. Republicans have had some pretty terrible policy ideas for awhile now. What seems to be new is that when given the choice between candidate A and candidate B, both providing the same basic terrible policy ideas, Republicans as an electorate choose the candidate that is the objectively worse human being of the two choices. Do I want the guy under indictment to be my AG or the guy not under indictment to be my AG? Do I want the guy yelling for tort reform who only started yelling for it after he got his, or do I want the guy yelling for tort reform just out of general principle? Do I want the serial adulterer and liar who is so transparently lying that he has absolutely no credibility or do I want the guy who is better at obfuscating his lies and cheating, or maybe even the one who does his best not to lie and cheat? Do we want the supreme court nominee that had a credible witness claiming she was raped by him or do we want another SCOTUS nominee with the same bonafides minus the rape? All of these terrible humans they've put in power had an opponent in the primary. Most of those opponents agree on the main topics of the day. Why do Republicans always choose the worst human when given the choice? I'm discovering I don't want to have a relationship with my family not because I don't like their policy positions, but because I no longer trust them to be a good judge of character, and therefore I don't see how we can have anything at all in common, and I sure can't trust their advice on how to conduct my own life. It was a depressing thought process, but I feel much better now, because at least I understand where my problem is coming from. Now I at least know how to focus whatever conversations I'm going to have with them about this.
  3. Wait, if Texas has BIG problems and we've been run completely by Republicans for 20 years now, doesn't that mean we should be voting for your opponent, Big Dan? Wonder who brought the donuts to that meeting.
  4. This is weird. You think Ted did nothing wrong. Ok, that's fine, but why do you then bring up these two and ask why they are allowed to do something wrong and Ted gets raked through the coals for it? Either Ted did nothing wrong, and therefore neither did these two, or else they all 3 need to learn some lessons in taking personal responsibility as leaders to set a good example. I'm pretty sure you aren't arguing the latter, so why even bring these two up? Is this supposed to be some sort of whataboutism? You aren't doing this correctly.
  5. What West Virginia has going for it is that one of it's 4 was a state legislator. That has to count for extra.
  6. Pos rep for galoots. Hadn't heard that word in awhile.
  7. Nah you were able to shame her into telling you what you wanted to hear.
  8. I think you have to register all ammunition you bring into DC with the authorities. Guns are legal but ammunition requires a permit or some such.
  9. Thanks for that. I don't look for lyrics of country songs, especially written by Oklahomans, to help me fine tune my Texas sayings library. Can't believe I wouldn't have thought to look outside of Texas to find my old Texas sayings....
  10. Nah it's easy to tell the difference between the panderers and the true believers who got elected. The panderers went and did exactly what you expected them to do. The true believers are treating this like a purity test of stupid. And they intend to prove to everyone just how stupid they are. Hmm, I'm almost 50 years old. I've never lived anywhere except for Texas. I've lived in the sticks and I've lived in cities. I've never heard a phrase like this. Anyone know what old Texas phrase this old timer Texan Chip Roy is talking about?
  11. Gotta be honest, this is a thing I'm concerned about. I don't want to give up the United or Marriott bennies and I'm going to have to get after it by July to have any chance to keep them. I'm contemplating a status match with Delta to get a smaller hill to climb to keep top tier next year, it all just depends on when travel is going to open back up.
  12. We had an open office before this. One of the reasons I would never go up there except when I could fill my entire visit with meetings is because that was too god damned distracting. We were told last week that our office is being redesigned and will no longer be just desks stacked row after row with no separation at all. It wasn't as bad as the chicken coop setup that Walmart IT has/had over at their headquarters, but it wasn't great Bob.
  13. Maybe he was an old MMORPG gamer and didn't like player killers?
  14. In Texas it's easy. I took a couple classes and took a test and had a licence in about 6 weeks. I then sold my house and made the commission on it, and realized I hated people too much to do that as a real job and let it expire.
  15. Yup, my company is planning to downsize on office space due to the new flexibility, but I suspect they are underestimating the number of people who will want to go into the office every day. WFH is not for everyone.
  16. I manage a field team for my company, only 1 of the team worked in the office before the pandemic, the rest of us needed to hop a plane to get there so we were there sporadically at best. We are a team that is used to getting on airplanes, but it wasn't to hit the office, so all of us were good with this work from home thing. I think most of us are going stir crazy that we can't get onsite with customers anymore, and I am really missing getting face time with my team. I'm ready to get us together as soon as we're able, but it's more about the camaraderie than it is a need for us to be in person to get work done. Also, I'm ready to get the fuck out of my house for a few days. My company is going to be more flexible, some essential workers will still be at a desk 5 days a week, but most people, including most who had no flexibility at all before the pandemic, will work from home 2-3 days/week once we go back to the office. No one is going to be asked to go back to the office until at least July 5 no matter their role, though. I suspect my one team member that can commute to the office will go back to going in most days just because he can. I haven't had a regular desk in an office in 10 years now, even when I worked for an Austin based company, the biggest and hardest difference for me has been the lack of work travel. Sitting at home has gotten super old. I'm anxious for companies to start putting people back in their offices so that my team can start to go visit again. If everyone is working from home that's going to put a kink in those plans and I'm not ready to give up work travel just yet.
  17. I sat next to him at one of the Holiday Bowls years back. I hope he has learned to dress in clothes that should've been thrown away and that he has since found a shower. Because the guy I sat next to didn't meet those feeble qualifications. He did have a line of women lined up for his autograph for the half of the game he sat there. I think he went to the sidelines for the second half. Fucker didn't even know the rules of the game.
  18. I don't know who this is, but that's probably because I beat her out the door by 35 years. Also, I expect her leaving is a bigger deal than my leaving was. But that's not saying much.
  19. We all already knew you had a learning disability, no need to come right out and admit it.
  20. And Jerry's opinions have probably not moved more than an inch or 2 in that decade either. Having the exact same beliefs I have now (Minus the minority rights part) qualified me to be a pretty hard core conservative when I was 19. Today it makes me a liberal.
